This man was such a very special talent.....I remember my folks listening to all his hits when I was young child ... So I grew up loving his voice. All these decades later, his voice still reaches out and grabs my heart. I will never, ever stop listening to Gene's music. Rest in peace, you incredible songbird. ❤️

I totally agree I was baby sitting in the 60's and the lady I babysat for had his albums and wow I thought he was great then and still think he is great now.

Can't believe this dude has not had the recognition he truly deserves, the fact that others have done his songs sometimes better is just another pat on the back for a great song writer!
He spent most of his time touring and performing in Europe, especially the UK, until the night he died in Cardiff, Wales. After the 'British Invasion' in the states, he couldn't get much airplay in the US. Gone but never forgotten!
From the early 60-ties Gene struck my heart with his fantastic songs and voice. RIP Gene. Your music will never die!

Damn I never knew of this guy, wow blew me away. I heard some of these songs but never knew who I was listening to. Sad to hear he's passed away. New fan, RIP Gene great talent and yes underrated.

Bobby Hatfield's is still the definitive version, though.

He does this very well, but in my opinion, Bobby Hatfield owns this song.
MYDOG - I agree. Gene does a great job, and a lot of other artists have given decent renditions, but none even close to Bobby's. Two great guys gone too soon. RIP
Never heard this version before, and it's good, but I think Elvis has the best version.
