i did this this in the mid 90s with a Coleman 12 pack cooler, and a air pump that uses 4 D batteries and dual air stones from an aquarium shop. Velcro tape works great to attach the pumo to the cooler. it works great, in the summer if you add ice to the water your minnows will live for days on end👍
An hour round trip for minnows might be a pain but at least you can get bait! If you're getting bait at Veness Bait in Two Harbors it might be fun to record the visit if they don't mind. I don't think a guy can beat the bait at Veness. Thanks for the video Zach!
If you would have drilled for your hose right where the blue met the white you wouldn’t of hit the part of the lid that goes into the cooler..double check that it doesn’t pinch your tubing when the lids closed tight,,,👍🏻
Summer issue, not a winter one at all. It is a great build. Love it. Just relating my experience with the commercial models. It’s why trout can’t be raised in ponds in Louisiana, effectively. Warm water holds less O2 than cold. It’s also why big fish go deeper in the summer months. Oxygen.
You can use an electrical conduit bracket . They come in many sizes ,metal or plastic . They are U shaped with two holes for mounting . Much cleaner looking and are cheap
If you had used more of the belt between the pump and cooler it would have prevented it from sliding and would have not required the philips screw. Overall though that'll do!
Found your open niche of opportunity... your town's new bait shop owner. Could be a Convenience store, bait and tackle, fuel station, small garage service, the sky is the limit. Fill a need, provide services and employment to your community.
@@JoeandZachSurvival ...umm, beats workin'. I wish I could send you pics. I had to Frankenstein my friction wheel and shaft, couldn't find parts or machinist to fix my 70's Bradford beast. Putting it back together right now. Wish you here.
My Brother would have loved this. Wish he'd lived to seen it. You are very smart & clever Zachary! Thank you!

Hey buddy! Was the lid pinching the hose when you closed it or were you down below the interior lip of the lid enough?
Hey Zach that’s a awesome business idea 💡 , work smarter not harder. Blessings! 👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩💯💯💯
Great idea Zack. Good job.
Looks good! I made one that runs on a battery operated pump and stuck it on with velcro. Enjoy!
Nice job Zach. Great video.
Great video Zach, I wish you made this before I spent $70 on my Engel live well. 🙂

Aloha zac!! Love it,smart kid
Great video Zach. Now all you need is a tank to keep stocks of minos in. ;)
What a neat idea.
That was a great idea that you get with the cooler have you thought of making them and then selling them?

It works great. Have had minnows in it for 4 weeks without any issues.

Oxygen.
Do you have any creeks or streams by you that you can set a minnow trap? I always caught my own bait. Nice bait cooler!
Could you do this with a larger cooler for a live well? seems like a good way to do it.

Where do you get your water from

brilliant
Another life hack for holding shiners, just use a fish tank 10 to15 gallon holds a few hundred shiny ones...
It is nice to make something you need instead of paying an arm and a leg for it.
Need to paint inside to that cooler black
Ever thought about opening a bait shop of your own?
Have you tried Alien Tape yet?
I guarantee you...probably. LOL!

Sounds like a lot of work with low profits

Sounds interesting, I love Frankenstein
You could use a fish tank but put in your bait. Hmmmmmm
and the top compartment would be great for meal worms 🪱, maggots, or whatever insects you use for bait. hopefully, it stays shut when you open it, lol
Use chicken livers for bait works wonders
