I didn’t have a root canal; I had an extraction done to a rotten tooth that remained from a silver tooth that fell out. A week later and my mouth feels freedom again. Breath is already back to normal, no more pain. Best of all, no more white tongue. It would take me like 10/15 mins to clean my tongue of all the white fuzz on it every morning. Now: I’m done in 5 mins.
Sometimes a root canal is great. Sometimes just get rid of the whole damn tooth!

me too!! They told me I had 7 cavities and one decaying tooth they would attempt a root canal on but doubted it would be successful,, which made no sense to me. Why go through the procedure and pay for it just to likely have to pay for and undergo a second procedure! They insisted we at least tried to save the tooth no matter how many times I said to just pull it. I went to a different office and they said I had one cavity, plus the decaying tooth, and just a few to keep an eye on. Also said there was absolutely no reason to even try to perform a root canal and they would extract it the following morning. Have now been with this dentist for years, really amazing people

@@bounsupremacy5401does not hurt at all I had one done two days ago. You’ll experience soreness after the numbing wears off but that goes away.
They sell numbing orajel that you can put on your gums and I’ve been using as after care.

I go in for one in 3 days. Been watching root canal vids to ease my mind. I think for me the biggest hurdle is the syringe at the start.

Got mine today. 2 hours post op and my face is still numb, hoping it wears off soon. Definitely a little sore but not terrible
Just had my first one done today on #30 (a molar) 😬 all I can say is you will feel sleepy afterwards or atleast I did it’s a lengthy procedure.ITS important to keep ur head elevated when u sleep ❤. Best of luck !

when i got my root canal the root canal itself wasn't painful but when on my 2nd visit to get a filling they started poking my teeth with a file without anesthesia that was painful as hell

Huge relief tbh. Still need to go back for the crown. With my age, it makes me feel proud that I still have my complete set of teeth (minus wisdom tooth). I reco this to everyone, if there is a chance to save a teeth, go for it.
How many visits did it take you? And did yo feel completely relieved or did you have a lil bit of discomfort mixed with pain or anything of that sort?
@@suchitranair683 3 visits in total. The first session is the hardest because that is when they remove the nerves inside your teeth. Now that it's done, it's good because I didn't need to wear false teeth to avoid damage to other molars. It's expensive, I didn't realise until I needed to cough out the amount asap, but it's worth it for me.
@@suchitranair683 there is no discomfort, just an adjustment because the crown feels different than my other teeth. Also, it just feels numb for that particular teeth all the time since the nerves had been removed.
I had this done by an excellent dentist - did not feel a thing - i was pretty petrified in the waiting room as well... if i had to say worst bit of the hour long procedure was that metal contraption they put on - it just feels very very tight - but just lasted seconds..

I had a root canal done on tooth number 30 and all i have to say is that it doesn't hurt they numb your gums first then they drill your tooth and numb the inside of the tooth. Then after that you won't feel a thing and they keep on numbing tge inside of your tooth. Don't be scared its all painless. And you also will feel sleepy afterwards.

Since this is a showcase video, i do think so, i believe people with no knowledge who get this treatment should know a few things.
The working length measurement at 1:35 is likely to be very inaccurate since there is fluid inside the pulp and root canals. Since the measurement is done by sending a weak electric signal through the inserted needle to measure the actual working length at the tip of said needle, the display will show that the end of the root canal is reached despite that not being the case, because there is fluid present.
The root canal filling at 3:00 looks way too short, usually the root canal of an adult tooth is on average 20mm long. Unless all three root canals are mostly obliterated, such a tooth will very likely cause problems again.
Also, doublechecking with an x-ray to make sure all three root canals are completey filled is a good idea.
Not a negative criticism, just an obsevation from someone who is working in this profession for 12 years now.
I've had three root canals done( 2 on the top set of teeth, 1 in the bottom set of teeth). The first one I had done was about 20 plus years ago, and recently,that particular crown, as well as part of the tooth,came off. So I'll likely have an extraction done for that one. Then, on another one from not too long ago(a dentist I had gone to at the time) didn't fill it properly)I'm going to have that one re-treated, hopefully very soon. Honestly though? Root canals are not that bad. Sure, you might feel a little discomfort for a few days afterwards, but after about a week or so,things are good. I'm going in tomorrow for my 6- month teeth cleaning. Guys, I hadn't been to the dentist in almost 8 years,and it took who over an hour for that one because of how long I'd waited. This one should take less time, though,I feel like. This dentist I've been going to this year seems like they'll do better work on my teeth for me,and they actually play good tunes, too, from the 80's and 90's. Best of luck to anyone who's going to have a root canal done for the first time. You'll do great. And here's to good teeth health for all of us, right? 😊
After a few days of tooth pain, booked an emergency appointment to see what was wrong. Got me numb for a root canal right then. Tooth was still a bit sensitive during the procedure, but it was 100% worthwhile :)

Don't be scared just do it if ur doctor told u to do because if you delay you have remove ur precious teeth and put there a artificial teeth

Can some expert help me out? I was told by one dentist that the hole in my molar is really bad and I need a root canal. I had a lot on my plate back then and since there was no pain I delayed it. I visited another dentist after some time and he told me since it's not bothersome, a filling would do just fine. Fast forward to one week later which is now, I have sensitivity coupled with a shooting and throbbing pain in my bottom teeth particularly my incisors. Could the cavity have spread through the nerves? I feel extremely anxious, please help me out.

Had the same thing. Had a filling, then it got super sensitive and painful. Got a root canal and crown placed. Feels great now.@@fareeha.in27

I did an internship at a dentist (im 14) because its my dream job and i had to do a root canal on a model and i messed up the first time letting a dent form at the bottom where the needle should turn and i couldn't get past the turn anymore and the second time i did it and it was oretty good. I got to take both home and because they were clear i could see the difference and i think it's pretty cool

I’m 30 with 6 root canals and i have to get two more Thursday.my first option has always been to extract some of them but every dentist I’ve ever been to tells me “no so i end up paying for another root canal/crown . I’ve had all wisdom teeth pulled at 18 so I’m guessing they see it as 4 are already gone . Or they may can sense I’m going to pay for a root canal😂 I’m so used to it now smh. They are all molars/ back teeth. i over ate sweets and never flossed until adulthood. After these i hope i never need to pay for another one 😭 out of all of them i only had one complication. The dentist was cheap and let’s just say i paid for what i got 😢. He left a nerve inside and i was in pain for a few days but i think i paid like 200 for the entire thing and crown without insurance. He fixed it and im assuming that’s why it was so cheap. All the other ones were about 1500 for all 😅 the experience was painless and they are all still holding up strong. If it’s your first time and you’re nervous, don’t be it’ll be a smooth process❤

Say what you please but that sh** hurts. Talk about making a grown man cry. I have had several and they ALL hurt. Lost the teeth anyway because they grind out so much material. Lost a LOT of money too cause it costs about 2000 for a root canal and crown.

The other teeth are fake models, even the gums (pink part) are fake. These models are used for training purposes for dental students and dentists for the real deal and also for video esthetic reasons. The real tooth which is badly infected is due to people deciding to not brush their teeth, don't ask me why people like this exist though.🤷♂ Hope this helps!
@@carlcool20Not true, it’s not from people not brushing their teeth. I brush my teeth thoroughly with a soft brush, not too hard, not too light. I brush twice a day, everyday, and mouthwash thoroughly twice a day. I don’t eat a lot of sugary foods and nothing after I brush my teeth at night. I still got major cavities and possibly a root canal needing to happen. The “only” thing I didn’t do was floss. I do now of course but it’s too late. However, oddly enough, the cavity is in the back of the tooth and not in between. And yes, I brush thoroughly back there as well lol just wanted to clarify, sometimes it’s genetics and not bad hygiene habits. I know a ton of people who don’t take care of their teeth but have never had a cavity in their life, then there’s others who do it all and get every cavity in the book.
@@jonathanchester4296 What I said is still true, it's the general reason as to why people have cavities and besides I doubt your tooth looked as bad as the one in the video. I'm sorry to hear that though, it must've been quite a painful experience. It is true that some people tend to have better teeth than others but what you're doing is probably excessive enough to destroy your own enamel. Not only do you brush 2 times a day but you also use mouthwash twice a day? Mouthwash is acidic and causes tooth erosion so basically you're pretty much damaging and removing the protective layer of your tooth that you very well tried to reinforce by brushing your teeth. This can also be confirmed if you have kind of some yellow teeth which again means you almost fully degraded your enamel and that yellowness of your teeth is your dentin (and not germs and food which pushes people into thinking that they should bruh their teeth even more). Another possibility (or even both) is that you may have thoroughly brushed the backlayer of your teeth but did you brush them the right and efficient way? RUclips is a good place to make sure you actually brush your teeth in a correct way or go see your dentist about this just in case. Sure, flossing is important, but brushing well your teeth and even squeezing your toothbrush in between your adjacent teeth is almost enough for you to not need to even floss regularly. Now I'm only a dental student so don't take my word as if I were a fully trained dentist, but from what I've learned in these few years these are probably the reasons why you got that deep cavity

I wish you listed more details about each procedure, like primary and secondary reasons for dental decay, age of patient, why there are some decay spots still left on the tooth, and why the other teeth look so perfect but this one is extremely diseased.
I'm pretty sure this is just a practice molar not attached to a patient, likely a real tooth removed by someone because of how damaged it was

Extraction is cheaper, and far less prone to complications. No way in hell I'd go through all this with a tooth that decayed. That bad boy would be getting pulled straight away.

One thing videos like this are misleading about-- Very often you get bounced between the Dentist, Orthodontist, and even a periodontist over the course of days/weeks to get different parts of this done. Very frustrating that most dentists don't do it all in one like this, everybody wants their cut of what you're paying out. 😒
The worst part of the entire process is the needle and anesthesia. Other than that, no pain at all.
