we all know that look @09:43 lol poor sod :D Also lads massive respect for dedicating this one to John Wilson. Seen a lot of youtubers do videos in the past foo weeks and not a word about John.
Brilliant Guys. John Wilson is King when it comes to fishing for the camera. he spent a great deal of time here in dorset on my local Dorset Stour and Hampshire Avon R.I.P. John
nice little session, perfect for a cold winters day. I'm not the only one struggling to distinguish roach from dace until they're in my hand! they were lovely deep bodied dace. lovely.
Nice video and a post to John Wilson. I was lucky enough to be able to fish the Wensum in the 60s and 70s. To some extent I don't think we appreciiated what we had a lot of the time. I was a member of the old Wensum Fisheries at Taverham. An Autumn Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning would always be a net of 12 or 15lbs which would include Dace to 8oz, Roach to a 1lb and maybe a dozen Grayling. That was the time, if I remember , when the chub started to show and Cormorants lived offshore. Lovely days.
well done guys. brilliant tribute the finest all round angler this country has ever seen. john spent a great deal of time here is the south on the Hampshire Avon.
First of all a merry christmas and fantastic new year too you and yours both of you, And thanks for your patience, time, knowledge and entertainment. And a wonderful clip to tribute a fellow angler.
As a novice river angler myself (Gav) it is something I want to do more of this season. I fished on the Severn last year for the first time trying and bagged an 8lb9oz barbel for my first ever barbel, jammy or what 😁
Great video as always guys, great tribute to John Wilson, my only surprise to his answer to your question is that is was Roach rather than Chub on the Wensum..Keep it up guys..
paraffinalien we have otters on ribble roach n dace seem ok but chub n barbel have sufferd from ethnic groups on lower stretches and cormrants on upper reaches done some damage to the big dace n roach ,seems only salmon stretches with heavy keepers are on the ball people forget you have to have an apex to eat an apex n we dont so to meny otters is not good esp for birds like merganser n greabs
Cheers Gary. :-) No, no float gear - we've fished the stretch many times of the float, so thought we'd try something a little different - although we might get out with the trotting gear over xmas. :-)
Hi Leighton, we were using an Advanta RVS Twin Tip Lite rod. If you click the tackle box link in the video description it'll take you to a tackle list of everything we were using. :-) Hope thats ok, cheers.
What are your thoughts on the environment agency in Norwich Norfolk area? This is abbit of an old video I know but it’s not just otters we’re worried about now on the lower wensum we have seals and the environment agency won’t do anything about it 😂
Hi Callum, I'm not too sure to be honest... It's a tough one... I did hear there was a seal in the Wensum though. Haha! (As if the fish need any more predators.)
Steve great video merry Xmas and Happy new year mate.Sorry i had a few confrontations with MR WILSON he was hated in the bridge pub his attitude was terrible with people thought he owned the village everybody was glad to see him go to abroad see my reply on the vide you did with horrible wilson.
I can relate to your comments about the deceased J Wilson. I was sea fishing once on a boat. Not a pleasant man who thought everyone was there for his benefit. Very arrogant and not such a good angler as he thought he was. Sad loss for family tho.
Hi Larsen, we were using an Advanta RVS Twin Tip Lite rod. It comes supplied with three tips 0.5oz, 1oz and 2oz, we were using the 1oz tip. Weight of the feeder was 30g (small or mini) I think! If you click the tackle box link in the video description it'll take you to a tackle list of everything we were using. :-) Hope thats ok, cheers.
So do we Alvin, fish of that size are what we'd use for big Pike! They're just a smaller species here in the UK. I'm sure in the states you have Crappie and Bluegill don't you? As a smaller species? Hope you're fishing is going well! :-)

I didn't know John Wilson was gone. Shock to the system. The man who got me hooked on fishing over 30 years ago. Real loss.
I know mate, a real loss to the sport.
Merry Christmas guys.🎄👍
Happy Christmas to you too Peter, hope you have a good one. :-)
Nice efforts lads and respect for the JW homage. 👍

Wilson loved to Trott, no float gear with you? Great vlog though regardless.
Cheers Gary. :-) No, no float gear - we've fished the stretch many times of the float, so thought we'd try something a little different - although we might get out with the trotting gear over xmas. :-)
Great video and tribute, what rod are you using?

Happy Xmas guys :)
Happy Christmas to you too mate!
Do you tend to keep the protective wrap on the cork?
I'd say no Jamie, although it's quite possible Steve keeps his on!
How is that stretch fishing for Chub at the moment?
I'm not too sure Matthew, we havent really been down proper chub fishing yet.
No worries, guess i'll have to get off my bum and find out!
How did you get on with the feeder holding bottom in that current
Yeah it held ok. The water was a little slacker under the trees.
First from Sweden 👍🏻😂
Nice to hear from you all the way over in Sweden, hope you've been catching a few fish!
Nice video. It's subscribe and like👍.I count to some☺🎣🐠🐋🐳🐟🐡
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it. :-)
☺
👍
Cheers Seba.
Nice video. Can you let us know test curve of quiver tip and weight of feeder? Didn't hear it, sorry if you did mention it
Hi Larsen, we were using an Advanta RVS Twin Tip Lite rod. It comes supplied with three tips 0.5oz, 1oz and 2oz, we were using the 1oz tip. Weight of the feeder was 30g (small or mini) I think! That’s why you should always have a landing net 😡
Haha, indeed mate!
2nd
:-)
I use bait the size of the fish you are catching here in the states catch fish 12- 20 lbs.
So do we Alvin, fish of that size are what we'd use for big Pike! They're just a smaller species here in the UK. I'm sure in the states you have Crappie and Bluegill don't you? As a smaller species? Hope you're fishing is going well! :-)
