    Float Fishing The Traditional Waggler - Fun Session!
    After a series of big matches, Fish'O Mania and Maver Match This qualifiers, where the pressure has really been on we decided to get out on the banks for a general pleasure fishing session. To go back to basics and to go back to where our fishing began - a simple session using float fishing tactics, with the traditional waggler.
    Fishing a lake which we knew was crammed with fish, of all different species, we set out simply to catch whatever was in our peg, with the main aim being a few simple enjoyable hours pleasure fishing.
    To find out exactly how we got on and perhaps find out a few tips along the way, watch this latest installment, from the waters edge.
    As usual we hope you enjoy it and any feedback is always much appreciated.
    Tight Lines

    I have followed 'From the Waters Edge TV' for a few years. This latest video takes me back almost 60 years. The great thing about these videos and their presenter is that everything is 'down to earth' ! No airs and graces just plain honest everyday fishing and techniques. Keep up the good work you have an awful lot of admirers.
    We all need to be reminded at times what fishing is all about, enjoyment and a release at times from the pressures of everyday life. Best Regards Ian

      Hi Ian Ashcroft first of all thanks for taking the time to comment, it's nice to hear from you, especially as you say you've followed us from the start, it means a lot. Glad you enjoy the videos - hearing positive feedback like yours is one of the reasons why we do what we do. Thanks once again, we hope your fishing is going well too!! Tight lines, cheers Chris. :-)

    Love this vid, I'm an allrounder so your channel is very helpful. Float fishing is always a pleasure of mine tho when I realy want to relax and switch off by concentrating on just one thing, the float. Shame it's not like the old days when just the odd person here and there used a feeder on the lake or river while most float fished. Also a shame that most kids now go straight into carp fishing and even kids have said to me it's all about catching big carp when I've asked them if they've ever tried float fishing and even said to me float fishing ain't proper fishing lol.

Altho I say proper it was a fish of 6lb, but I was so chuffed! Hope your fishing is going well, cheers Chris.

    Hello from Texas, USA!! Love your shows. My question is why do you put your fish in the netted bag even though you're going to release them?

    • @Liofa73
      @Liofa73 8 лет назад

      Probably so there's no chance of a re-catch.

    • @MrTim207
      @MrTim207 8 лет назад

      The keepnet is normally used in matches so the total amount of fish caught can be weighed at the end. Not many places allow keepnets to be used for recreational fishing nowadays though. It's quite satisfying to see your whole catch together at the end of the day when you can use one though.

      @FromTheWatersEdgeTV  9 лет назад

      Hi Levon de Carlo nice to hear from you from so far away!!! :-) Thanks for the kind comments too. We normally only use the netted bag (keepnet) for match fishing situations, however we sometimes use it to keep the fish in for a little while so they don't swim off and tell there mates! Haha. Sometimes when fishing for shoal fish, if you catch one and then release it straight away it can often swim back out to where it was caught from and spook the others.

    match fishing is great..the added pressure of competition is challenging.... i got to a high-ish standard myself...id always place top 3 in club matches...and could win section in an open..came 2nd in an open(had a great peg)... but my enthusiasm waned after a long run of crap matches on crap venues... 300 peg match on the thames, scratched 1lb 12oz of silvers...match won with 30+lb from end peg near boating marina... same names getting top pegs EVERY bloody week..... ya soon get disillusioned..... everyone there was at a high level...and it just becomes a draw lottery, no different to going bingo..... but i never lost the love for a day like this pleasure fishing on waggler..lot less tackle to carry...and plenty of tea and cake .... great little lake but it flatters you being so easy.... i had daiwa matchlight 12 an 13ft rods like yours an daiwa 120m closed face reel..... great memories

      i used to match fish but its become so expensive and holding a pole is not good ,,im strong but holding a pole is unnatural and there is no pleasure in it ,,,,its a method thats all,, you have to have not choose,then you now need an wheel barrow to push your over the top gear on ,i had forgotten why i fished for the pleasure so now its stick and pin on rivers or wag on still waters ,and now i enjoy my fishing and not fish catching two very different things,and its not bone idol match fishing ,

      We only use it in some situations Richard. It's not allowed on quite a few waters in our country too.

    great video......find it funny when lads turn up on local commie with a 13 ' rod and then you hear some numpty shout across the pond shouting you will never land a fish with long rods

    REAL fishing is enjoyable and why we fished,,,, in the past match anglers were just good normal anglers,,now match fishing is artificial the methods baits it become plastic and drab ,with every angler fishing the same ,and the pegs pick the winners,i would like to see some so called top anglers fishing canals rivers and natural lakes ,very few would master all three ,not like the lads back in the day, when we were equal ,not expensive tackle and 5 days a week to practice ,,,,then they turned up with some home work and did the business ,now its the same boring crowd year in year out , fishing up to 6 matches a week ,and if they win 4 out of 60 their classed as top class,or worse venue experts or a man who fishes 1 commercial 7 days a week all year round, i became bored to death with match angling or fish catching ,,i stopped altogether ,then one day found an old centerpin got out my rods got on the river and never looked back love fishing again ,your video reminded me of why cheers ,

    Hello from Texas, USA!! Love your shows. My question is why do you put your fish in the netted bag even though you're going to release them? Thanks mate...

      Hi azza asw I'd probably go with a 14 or 16, that should be ok. Depends on what you are targeting really though!

      Too big...size 18 or 16 will do...unless you're after river carp or barbel.

      i often use 10s on rivers specially when targeting perch, chub would be fine onm a 12.
      yeah you might get a few less bites with bigger hooks but you land more fish IMO

      With a size 12 fishing maggots and corn you could still do it i'd say. Use three maggots or two corn on the hook, possibly even four maggots and three corn. I havent done it before but if you only have size 12 hooks and want to try saving money on not buying smaller hooks then give that a try.
