This is a family hauler and should be reviewed as such, using kids, with car seats, rear facing car seats hooked it, two dogs, gear, and a boat hooked up. That’s our weekends in the summer and it’s a great vehicle. It’s not a weekend off road vehicle, or speedy luxury executive commuter, or a fuel sipping compact. It is what it is, a huge family hauler than can handle many situations. The leg room is great in the third row like you said. It’s my wife’s daily with the kids, we just put gas in it and go. We have a 2016 platinum 4x4 we bought new and now with 95k trouble free miles. We’re going to keep it as long as we can.
I bought one in December, and I don't plan on ever buying another vehicle. It took me 15 years to put 173,000 miles on the Nissan Murano and this one will go 300k easy. They can pass all the laws they want, I'm grandfathered in.
About a year ago I bought and 05 with 260k. I've put 2k miles and spent a substantial amount and I love this car. It has the older 4.7 2UZ-FE and truly feel this engine has now a quarter of its life.
I really enjoy your reviews. TFL, Raities Rides, Redline Reviews, Straight Pipes, and Alex on Autos are some of the car you tubers that I watch all the videos, but you are detailed and organized as well. I really want this truck. I’m his or the Nissan Armada SL. I LOVE TOYOTA because my family on my moms side have all had Camry’s that last! 91, 01, 07. I like older styled vehicles. I’m ok with the older tech. Thanks for the reviews.
I have a Lexus LX570 (same engine as being used for this Sequoia) that I was advised the engine has a timing chain instead. I am not sure I am correct.
Great Video! I really like that you spent more time talking in detail about the interior and The ride. Do you have a lot of floating happening at higher speeds on straight highway roads with the Fox Shocks? I ask, because I'm wondering what the difference between the Adaptive Air Ride suspension Vs. Fox shocks for highway speeds and cornering curvy roads and mountains? Also Does the TRD Pro Sequoia stay pretty flat on curvy roads, Body Roll with the Fox Shocks? I'm looking for the ride to be comfortable as much as possible. I love the look of your TRD Pro. I just don't need the off-road capabilities. I am looking to buy this Full Size SUV because the Sequoia has been around for a long time and the 5.7, V-8 I've heard is super reliable. Thank you!
Yes, it's a 5.7 L and has a timing chain. I'm interested in purchasing one of these, and if it had a Timing Belt I would reconsider. I have a 4.7 L and I have changed the timing belt, but I would rather not have the belt type.
I get 20-22mpg highway on my sequoia platinum with ease. Just watch your instant economy needle it’s possible. This engine doesn’t have a timing belt either.
The problem with the center locking diff... If you cant lock the front or rear diff, you can still get hung up if one front, and one rear tire are off the ground. The ability to also lock EITHER the front or rear diff would solve this problem.
Parked a 25 year relationship with my old Suburban for one of these, and have 10,000k behind me now. Awesome vehicle, with some exceptions: c/w poor tires & battery...installed Ko2s at dealership 👍. While the gasketing is exceptionally well done, the sound proofing is a lick & a promise, generally poor. The 2 rear rows of seating are of exceptional quality for passengers, but all folded down leaves a poor cargo configuration in comparison to current and older Chev & Ford comparisons.
In the 90s, it was a trend for brands to describe themselves with three words to set their strategy and define their target market. For example...BMW...sporty, sexy, sophisticated Toyota was essentially....reliable, reliable, reliable Honda almost the same. Hence I only buy Toyota and Honda. Have worked in the automotive supply industry...have owned something of most brands. Sure, Toyota has an issue now and then...but not like other brands.
before you buy (20-21) the best dinosaur that survived…so must consider and wait for 2022 model year to come out first! They are modifying this dinosaur to modern and more technology added in but you lose this Dino heart “V8 5.7 382hp”
@@cyberpunkalphamale you don't buy it because its has flashy interior, its a solid tank more American than Apple pie lol. Before you buy re test drive but sit in the passenger seat if you can live with that seat height pull the trigger. Good luck man

Got this last weekends. This thing is a monster. I think I will keep this thing running till I am old and dead lol.

These rigs come with timing chain .

This n army green really fits this suv. The trd package really looks nice n tough n rugged here

You mentioned timing belt. Doesn't it have a timing chain?
I have a Lexus LX570 (same engine as being used for this Sequoia) that I was advised the engine has a timing chain instead. I am not sure I am correct.
Toyota 5.7L engine comes with a timing chain. Same engine in Land Cruiser and Tundra. Also the LX.
Timing Chain !
I'm not buying a toyota for the amount of usb outputs. I buying it for the longevity.
Amen!!!
If I buy it I'll just convert to CNG or LPG to significantly reduce the fuel expenses
An oldie but goodie.

Timing belt ?????
Excellent reviews and observations. Thank you!

I May get some hate. However it is on my radar to get. Wife’s sister had one I drove it a couple times and loved it
If you can deal with the mileage and the “dated” interior, you’ll have a nice, large SUV that will last forever with minimal maintenance.
@@manybogeys3450 the longevity is what I am after. I grew up in the 70s and 80s. Don't need too much fancy. 👍😎👍
@@dantheman9395 It’s why people buy Toyotas.
You’ll love it !
for that price Toyota should have added crawl mode and other off-road capabilities that the LC has.
Nice review
Thank Hamsom. Great video! Suscribed.
I drive a first fen tundra and a 4ty gen 4runner. Both great and meet my needs.
This car has the best AWD system in the class! MultiMod. TORSEN in the center differential. Ford, GM, Dodge doesn't have that all-wheel drive system.
You mean 4wd

Battery & tires are maintenance. All seats folded & memory foam mattress 2 adults can sleep comfortably
Do not changed the timing belt, it'll last the life timing of the engine

It's big
There’s no timing belt
Car go space ? No it stays on the ground.
I know this is an old video , but I'll take the trusted 5.7 old V8 and transmission any day then the new underpowered failing turbo charged engines.
I have a 2021 Nightshade full suspension 2.5 inch dobinsons IMS. 35x12.5r18s it offroad like a beast and use it for overlanding. Beat toyota out there
5’8” is short???!!! I guess I’m short.
I'd still rather have this and throw down some extra to add USBs, than buy that piece of shit they recently released
5'8 IS NOT SHORT
5.8 is very short for a man bro 😭😭

Wow, Almost everything about this truck is so outdated.
Lol I have one and love it

Outdated = high resale
Reliability never gets old to me....
Perfect interior for family with young kids. If not broken don't fix it. My family loves it
First
Looks like too much cheap plastic in the interior.
Does it???....
Actually I had mine for 11 years and plastic never had any issues in this rig.
Tough stuff and very reliable!
Ugly ass interior for a 2020 Truck
