What a beautiful show, Karen! You made me laugh out loud when, talking about doing Laura Standish reversibly you said, "I want to get this done in my lifetime." Definitely something I've been thinking about. Thank you for sharing all your beautiful and inspiring work - and your stitching area!
Thanks, Marcia! So glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for your nice note. I do love the Loara Standish sampler and really thought about doing the whole thing reversibly but as I mentioned, decided to just stitch some of the bands “normally” . . . so I can get it done. 😂😂 ( I do admire those who have done the entire sampler as charted. I’ve seen a few in-person and they are amazing. ) Thanks again for your note! 🙂
Karen my coffee Quaker is done and hanging on my kitchen wall near my coffee pot. Every morning when I make coffee, I catch a glimpse of it and it reminds me how much I love my cross stitch. The little pop of green and pop of red are just so pretty. I know you will enjoy it when you get it done
I, too, quilted for 35 years (still have a quilt in progress) and jumped into cross stitch again just this year. I did have a cross stitch project that took me 30 years to finish! So now I’m knee deep in several larger stitches including Shores of Hawk Run Hollow. Why not? Love your pattern choices!
I have always loved the Plum Street "Flag Flock" pattern, and the frame IS beautiful. "Live on Littel" is also a favorite of mine! Beautiful work on all your projects! Happy New Year!🥳
Thank you so much, Kathy! So glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for your nice note. The colors of The Winter Is Past are really lovely! You will enjoy stitching it. 🙂 Thanks again!
Thanks for the effort you put into doing these videos! You do a wonderful job and for those of us that don’t have any stitching friends it is so enjoyable! Merry Christmas and happy new year!
Everything you showed this video is absolutely gorgeous. I definitely would love to get the battle of Franklin sampler you showed. My husband and I retired on a little farm about an hour and a half from Franklin in middle Tennessee and have been to Franklin many times. Keep making these videos you keep me motivated.
Thanks, Lori! So glad you enjoyed the video and I appreciate your nice note. Last time I was at the gift shop at the Carter house the chart, as well as a kit was available for the sampler. They may still have it in stock. We have lived in middle Tennessee for almost 35 years, we enjoy living here. 🙂 Thanks again for your nice note!
It was a Beautiful Parade ! This year, I eased back into cross stitch by completing several smalls. Recently purchased a couple of MFE patterns to take my stitching up a notch in 2025. Emeline Hotchkiss is still my plan to stitch one day. All the best for the coming new year !
Thanks so much Terry, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I know you will enjoy stitching Emeline Hotchkiss as well as MFE. Jacob has such wonderful designs! Happy New Year!
Karen, thank you so much for this WIP parade and all the finishes you showed! Everything is stunning! What a fun treat to watch right after Christmas. Can’t wait for more in the New Year!
The colors in Coffee Quaker are the same in a sister pattern Say Coffee by Heartstring Samplery. I just finished Say Coffee Sampler. Love the color combination. A fun stitch. I love your choice of patterns. I’ve started a couple of them. Very enjoyable FlossTube. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Thanks, Colleen! So glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for your note. I believe I have the Say Coffee sampler chart, I will have to take a look for it. Nice to hear that it could be a good companion piece to Coffee Quaker. 🙂 Thanks again!
Thanks, Louise, so glad you enjoyed the video! Usually, my decision on which silk to purchase is based on ease of access. ( I love using both.) Most of my 100.3 came as kits, or I ordered the silk pack from a shop. I often buy the Vikki Clayton silks because she has almost 500 silk packs ready to order. Ordering is so easy and I love using her silks. Thanks again for your note!
Karen - what a wonderful overview of your beautiful work. ❤️ Thank you - I really enjoyed learning about all the adaptations you made. I need to develop my confidence in adjusting things to reflect my taste/preferences. Please may I ask, do you stitch in hand/use a hoop/a frame when stitching your larger pieces? If a hoop/frame do you have a preferred ‘make’? I am aiming to stitch some larger pieces in 2025 and am thinking about how best to tackle them…
Hi Karen, so glad you enjoyed the video and sure enjoy your nice note! I seldom stitch in hand. I've tried it and, for me, I don't like the way my stitches look. I started using scroll frame and an Elan frame when I first came back to stitching. However, in the past 18 months, I have switched to a Potoky stand an a 7" hoop. Since I sit at my sewing table, a table stand really works for me. I like the 7" frame, since I can stitch more area and my stand is holding the hoop rather than my other hand holding it. This allows me to stitch two handed, which, for me, I find faster. If I stitched on a couch or recliner, I would probably use a floor stand. That is another option to consider. I have found it took awhile to find the set-up that worked for me. I did try several options that were okay, but really enjoy the combination of the Potoky stand with a 7" hoop. (I really like the vintage hoops and do stay on the look out for them whenever I am at a vintage or antique shop. I have several friends who use Q-Snaps and love them. I've tried them, but find I enjoy the 7" vintage hoop the best. Hope that helps, don't be afraid to try different set-ups and see what works best for you. There are so many wonderful options, sometimes it is hard to narrow it down. Thanks again for your note!
Thanks so much and thanks so much for your note! There is quite a bit of stitching on the house, but it seemed to go fairly quickly for me. It really is a pretty chart. Thanks again!
That green you chose for that sampler is gorgeous 😍 Do you have any good tips or secrets to working on the smaller count linen? I have such a hard time with anything after an eighteen count.
I find higher power reading glasses in good light helps me immensely. I also use a hoop (rather than stitching in hand) and make sure it is tight. This helps open up the linen so you can see the threads and the spaces. I also find some hand-dyed linen shrinks the linen a bit, so I’m carefully about that. If you want to try linen, I would suggest starting with a Laguna perhaps 25 count (and perhaps a smaller project to start) and see what you think. I have several friends that wanted to switch from stitching on Ada to linen. They started with a Laguna finding it much easier than they thought it would be. Hope that is helpful and thanks so much for your note! 🙂

Hi Karen,
I did the "Winter is Past" by Blackbird this last summer, I fell in love with it when I first saw it. It went quickly.
It really is a lovely design. There is just something about it that draws you in. 🙂
