I agree with you about enjoying what we already have in our wardrobe (which is a lot for most women), rewearing and restyling the clothes/accessories/footwear we have and love. I've seen the trends forecast for 2025, I'm not impressed with them and am almost relieved that I won't be spending money on them. I am happy I bought quite a few pieces in the past 18 months because they really suited my needs, style and colour palette, but now it's time to wear them every day. The main issue I have is taking time to practice styling my clothes, I'm often in a rush and it's tempting to keep wearing the same combinations or to grab accessories (scarf, woolly hat, gloves, bag, belt, footwear) almost as an afterthought. Before I even try things on, I take some time to think what I would like to wear while I'm still in bed or having breakfast. I choose a look depending on the weather and how I'm feeling that day - I could not plan what to wear days ahead, I always go by how I'm feeling in the morning. I take great care of my clothes and footwear, so even inexpensive pieces look good.
Powder pink is definitely a no for me, but dusty pink is a beautiful and often underrated neutral, it is soft and classy and goes with grey, black, navy, denim. I have a dusty pink pussybow blouse that I love and only cost me £10 from Primark (many years ago). I also happen to have a dusty pink velvet sofa in my dressing room, it's just a chic, expensive-looking colour. I don't wear pastels but I buy inexpensive bandanas (99p) and neckties/scarves in lighter colours to brighten up my outfits.
You can spray suede with stain & rain repellent, definitely don't get it wet. If you choose darker colours (chocolate brown, black) everyday dust and dirt will obviously show less. I bought 3 suede jackets this year (Massimo Dutti and Zara, all sold out) and I admit they're delicate and I'm reluctant to wear them on public transport or to go to the supermarket. A sales assistant touched my light brown suede jacket with grubby hands and I wanted to scream at her. But you also have to be a little relaxed about these things or your suede pieces will just hang new in your wardrobe. One of the suede jackets I bought is very special to me as it reminds me of a similar one my Italian grandma wore in the 70s, I think it was always on my soul's wishlist and when I saw it on the Zara website I bought it immediately (it also sold out immediately).
Thoughtful insights, Jamie Lee! As you were going through the trends I kept thinking how so many of them are PERFECTLY aligned with thrift/pre-loved shopping! Athletic jackets, nautical, grunge plaid, pastels, etc. seem to pop up in thrift stores all the time, so there's always a chance of finding a really special piece that way and adapting the trend in a way that feels natural to your own personal style.
Believe it or not years ago I got a washable suede jacket at Nordstrom and it has been one of my all time favorite pieces. I can literally put in the washing machine on gentle and then let it air dry.
Hello, I watch all kinds of capsule wardrobe videos. I curated my classic capsule wardrobe a few years ago I’m 69 and retired so it’s nice casual. Everyone who made videos at the time told me to get black Chelsea boots that ,that was what you needed. I only wore them once. I don’t think they’re necessary. Everything else was great advice, but that didn’t work out too much for me, but I still have them. Maybe I’ll wear them. I don’t know.
Brilliant content, thank you mademoiselle, you've got yourself a new subscriber. My words are modern classic, Parisian and chic. I love denim and monochrome. I'm finally blossoming in my 50s after losing weight 5 years ago. I have a renewed interest in style and fashion, I know what I like and what suits my petite frame and I think I am more confident and look better than I did when I was young, overweight, insecure and I also had acne until my 40s, which was awful. If anyone's interested, I lost weight while still eating generous portions and cleared my skin on a whole food plant-based way of eating. Trusted channels (non-profit): Physicians Committee, Chef AJ, Ryan Adams' Slim & Sustain - you don't have to become vegan but eating more plant food really helps.

Exactly what I have done and do!

Suede is a no for me. I love the look, but don’t want the extra overhead to maintain it. And I live in Melbourne…which is often raining 🌧️
Same, i couldn't be bothered with all the fuss in order to wear suede
This has been some of your best content...keep up the hard work.
Ah thank you thank you!!~ Hoping to have more videos like this (with tangible styling advice you can *really* put to use) in 2024!
Thanks!

Wonderful deep dive and I enjoyed this very much. ❤
