I can't speak for everyone, but I'm more interested in reviews like this than Marvel Legends. Been collecting Legends for years now, pretty much know what to expect from a figure by seeing it's picture when it goes up for pre-order, so don't need to watch reviews on it before I decide if I want to buy.
Flashback of the paint chipping from the original figures from when I was a youth. They look good but for that price point , I don’t know. Glad you did this review to give us a heads up.
I had Steelwill and Steelheart. I don't remember the paint chipping off much if it did. But, I do really remember the plastic being very brittle. The ball sockets in the shoulders and hips crumbled over time. So, no more plugging the arms back in. The limbs would easily pop off when moving them but, I could pop them back on easy. Until randomly, a chunk of plastic would just break off. Sometimes fall off, like it already broke off but, was being held on by fairy kisses. Sorry to say but, after getting tired of keeping them for the sake of it, they went in the trash.
I only had Quicksilver. And yeah, that paint chipping was real. Just got this version of Steelheart yesterday. We'll see how the paint holds up over the next decade.
Flat paint over a shiny surface, how'd they think that would stick? Should be sanded on the face and arms before they painted over the metallic smooth paint
yeah.. I don't know how they would've sanded it down without scratching the vac metal parts. Really the skin tone parts should've been made separately and attached after paint.
I got my vac-metal Quicksilver today! A suggestion for display that works; a Playmates Star Trek (Morn) stand pegs into the figure very nicely! Thanks for the great review Shartimus!
I'm not going to lie, they are beautiful. If we had had the choice between the two versions directly everyone would have taken these. But having sold the others first, and finally saying oh yes, we know how to make chrome, it sucks. So the chrome is without me.
Glad I'm done with Super 7. I'm bummed that my Thundercats will be incomplete with no Wily Kat and Kit but I just can't get their stuff anymore. They could have done what NECA does and do a face swap. The figure can be chromed but have the flesh parts be different sculpts that can be swapped and NOT painted chrome.
They pop so nice and while I am nostalgic for the vac metal, I am happy with my cartoon versions which is what I watched as a kid. If these went on sale for cheap I’d consider dipping but the paint chipping is definitely a bummer at that price point.
Great review Shartimus, it's good to see these figs with all their pluses and minuses. Could you maybe paint the flesh areas with some kind of matt sealer to help lock down the paint a little more? I haven't tried it myself (not with flesh colour over chrome paint at least) so I can't say how effective it would be. Just a thought.
It's really hard to believe that putting chrome on a figure is this difficult... i mean there are TMNT figures from the 90s out there covered in chrome that still look great...
The steel heart I got had gashes in the vac metal paint near her crotch area and other gashes in the paint around her hips. Quick silver has scratches on his chest area. I get it's a pain to do but for the prices we're paying per figure super7 should have worked out those kinks long before release
The lack of paint on the torso of the new Tally Hawk is someone disappointing. Don't get me wrong, I'll still pick up Quicksilver. That vac metal looks awesome... If the Superior Iron Man figure had the same paint as the Silver Surfer, I would have picked it up...
The vintage Silverhawk figures had similar vac metal paint issues. Silverhawk figures were always a niche property. I have no problem with you buying them, but for me it’s an easy pass.
I think I would be more interested in the cartoon versions.🤔 I saw them going cheaper on Amazon right now. The vac metal just doesn't hold up well over time. 😞 All I can do is just pose them once and never touch them.
Is it common to paint on top of the vac metal? I always thought it would’ve been reversed and paint back metal on top of the normal colored plastic or skin colored plastic.
If Super7 didn't want to do it then don't do it! Could've made the flesh tone separate parts! I'd like to get Steelheart since i still have my childhood figure
Should've made the skin tone parts separate from the vac metal and attached them after painting. But we all know Subpar7 doesn't give 2 shits about the quality of their own product. Its just them being cheap and lazy, yet still charging premium prices for their figures. People continue to give them their money so I can't really blame them.
7:30 The paint on her eyes are misaligned on her default head, and on her second angry head, she's missing paint in the tear duct corners of both her eyes. What are we talking about "it looks pretty good" ? Terrible paint job. This is unacceptable for a figure of almost $70.

Thanks for pointing out how Super7's first run, and probably only run, should have resembled the Silver Surfer paint apps.

Glad you got these so I didn't have to, but they do look pretty

My dad loves the silver hawks. This would be a great gift for him.
Definitely a nostalgic buzz & im keeping em’ bboxed
Oh man! I bought this when they first came out. Thanks for the video
Awesome video! Thank you so much!
I have the Quicksilver and the chipping is the reason these are staying sealed in the package. They sure do look stunning.
@chrisalan457 Ditto for me! Keep em mint and sealed no chipping LOL!🦅🤗🙏👍

They could have done something like figuarts Cooler, doing plates for the faces and separate parts on the arms
Awesome review 😎⚡🔥
Los halcones galácticos!!!
Like the armour design
Now I dream of a Cobra line. Imagine Lady Armaroid, Crystal Bowie,..
Thank you for the comparison with Walgreens Marvel Legends Silver Surfer. THAT is how the Silverhawks Ultimates should have been done the first time.
That chromed Quicksilver looks AMAZING. The rest of the Silverhawks look great as they are IMO only the Animation Quicksilver looks flat to me.
To be fair I’d rather have flesh tone paint chip rather than the vac metal because flesh is way easier to touch up with some paint
There are no episodes where Steelheart is purple.
They went for max shine and succeeded

Instead of vac metal why nit just use the silver paint like ultimates krang had? They could of pulled silver off a ton of ways
I prefer the cartoon ! Looks better and don't have to worry about the flaking on a $65 figure.
The lack of paint on the torso of the new Tally Hawk is someone disappointing. Don't get me wrong, I'll still pick up Quicksilver. That vac metal looks awesome...

So sorry to see immediate blemishes on your purchase man. tamiya paint is your best bet for cosmetic repairs.
Damn !😂 y'all wanted Chrome and this is the result !
Yes, we do remember how you hijacked Pixel Dan's interview with Brian at SDCC 2023 🤒
I'd recommend gloves while handling these.

It’s tallyhawk, and not:”tallyho”, and isn’t steelheart supposed to be gray and blue, and not purple🤔💁🏻♂.!
I love chrome I just wish it wasn't so chippable
If Super7 didn't want to do it then don't do it! Could've made the flesh tone separate parts! I'd like to get Steelheart since i still have my childhood figure
Shart, did you finish cleaning your house? lol
Love the chrome look but couldn’t they have just use flesh tone plastic for all the human parts instead of painting it over the chrome
They couldn't even get Quicksilver's color right...
They did this so people will never ask for any type of chrome figure again.

están muy lindo. y era sabido lo de la pintura. lo que más me preocupa es las articulaciones.
Yeah man reminds me of the Kenner ones. But nice
My quicksilver has a lazy left eye the paint was wonky
65 bucks for these. RUclipsrs need to stop acting like shills and call out Super7 ‘s bad QC.
Great looking but I'll stick with the cartoon versions. Too much flaking for me but that was expected
The exposed arm bothers me so much. Someone fill me in? Never seen this show and fail to understand why its like that.
I would never buy these!
The toy version is good for keeping in the box. If you want to display out of the box, then the cartoon version is better.

Horrible, this why i didn't want them
Super7 uses cheap paint sh figuarts cooler figure is vac an no flaking smh pass for me but good vid
Smh
Yikes. Hard pass
Why? 😮
@@philstewart345 Look awful. Cheap.
