I hope you’ll also show us how…the heck…one can actually fix that rusted rear frame rail situation. That will certainly bring you far past the 100K mark! Take care and aloha!
Good stuff Jeff!!! I’m glad it wasn’t too harsh under there for you. I’m sorry I missed the zoom meeting on Sunday and I hope all of you had a good time! 🏁
I got a truck back from the dealer after having the transmission replaced under warranty that had both front wheels with the lug nuts installed like that. You have a teachable moment with Logan. What I had was a lawsuit waiting for a place. Fortunately it was due for another service and inspection and I had it on the lift going over it. 🤦♂️ not a lot of confidence in the proper installation of said transmission.
Man you did get lucky with those bolts. I was not that lucky when I replaced the springs on my 67 Mustang. Those things were beyond frozen. When taking off rear shocks I use a chain wrench or pipe wrench and have it so it will press against the axle as I turn the nuts on the shocks. That keeps the shock from spinning.
I read somewhere that maverick rear top shock mounts will swap into rancheros and wagons so you can remove the shocks without taking the bed panel out.😀
@@AutoRestoMod Yes. Might have been with Vinny, need to continue searching. The perches are different so I need to cut/grind off the 88 perches/saddles and weld a set for my 67.
All my bolts came out like butter too. But could be because I soaked them in penetrating oil for like 2 weeks before I finally got the courage to climb under there and start wrenching. Also, my project is an F100. So maybe the trucks are easier?
The funny thing is that some of the bolts on the ranch hero and falcons are hard to get to with penetrating oil. You can put penetrating oil on the spring shackles at the front, but it really doesn't make that much difference because your bigger problem is the sleeve that the bolt shank rides in. I've never had a problem with the spring shackle bolts at the back of the car coming loose. And you can't get any penetrating oil on the spring mount bolts on the Ranchero or station wagon.
I did use penetrating oil on the bolts but I did not show that because the footage wasn't quite focused. Nothing more annoying than seeing out of focus footage.

It is coming. We're showing how to check and crib the chassis for that fix in the next episode.
Man you got so blessed with those bolts. We broke 3 out of 4 u bolts just taking the leaf springs off an axle last time I was home!
I'm still in shock, honestly. I even texted Cam, and he was floored.

All good, you were missed. And you didn't get to see the cool ornament I made for the Christmas survivors. Lol

Wow...just...wow. I can see that from an 18 year old with not much experience, but NOT from a service tech.
@@AutoRestoMod that’s exactly what I said.
That went surprisingly well - guess you earned it after dealing with the floor pan 😂 Another great video!
Hahahahaha
Once again a good video 📹 👌
Thanks again!

Good idea on the chain wrench! I am, with what the rest of that bomber looks like, STILL scratching my head over why that job eas so easy.
Prolly go a lot easier if the fasteners were wire brushed and some penetrating oil shot on them. 😊

Thanks for the info.
Oh by the way, those are the same shackles and bushings on my 54 Ford. I changed mine back in September.
Good to know!
Video on saddle exchange? Bought 88 stang axel for 67 .... Something like 17/32 longer. I know you've done video on this and can't find it
Saddle exchange?

Anyone know where I can get leaf springs for my 74 ford maverick?,appreciate it.
Eaton Detroit Spring. Best I've ever used.
@@AutoRestoMod $800..... thats alot
Need to get that 18 year old “man” under that car and spin those crusty bolts..
I can literally just taste the dust and grime as it falls out from the frame lol...
I filled a hole in the yard with it...
I didn’t see one drop of penetrant or heat used. You have favor with the rust Gods

Ok.
Always a good time when you have to break out the B.A.M.
Yes. I call that one Purse... the other one is Mjölnir.
