Your channel is excellent. The video's are top notch, the narration is clear and concise and it is obvious you are a subject matter expert. Wow. It is so nice to find such high quality videos. I run a small engine repair shop in Arkansas and I am going to check your website out. Even if I end up paying a little more you deserve the business.
I've been subscribed to your channel for awhile now and my buddy gave me a Ford 100 Garden tractor today. I saw the 120 you've been working on and when my buddy got this one I told him I wanted to buy it. He called today and said come get it because he didn't have time to mess with it. He gave 50 dollars for it. It's all there including the mower deck. I'm going tomorrow to pick it up.
John Wallace awesome! congrats. I am working on the next episode for this which is reassembly of the engine. then I will be doing the transmission. I haven't been able to film lately because I just moved into our new office and are preparing to expand our inventory. thanks for watching!
Rebuilding a kohler magnum 10 rite now .. Just took all the measurments. And pretty much was in perfect factory specs pn all the measurments just waitong on a puller for the fly wheel and my parts hopefully it will be back in and working hard again after next weekend ...
Hi Norman! Excellent video series! I rebuilt my k241 10hp for my Gravely about 15 years ago, or so. I did not replace the valves or valve guides. (I did not have proper tools at the time.) Now they are very loose. I was kind of hoping this video would address valve guide replacement, boring and/or sleeving. I'm pretty sure I have 2 new guides in my stash from when i did the rebuild. Any advice?
Thank you Norman! I am restoring a Cub Cadet 100 and these videos are going to be a great guide to taking my K241 apart! Will definitely order your rebuild kit soon. Quick question, what brand of micrometers and gauges do you use? Since I’m on a budget, I will probably have to resort to a set from Harbor Freight.
I like the anytime tool brand on Amazon. Just make sure it goes to the third decimal and you measure the standard the tool comes with and adjust your zero
@@Isavetractors Thank you Norman! I was actually looking at the Anytime brand while pricing some sets out, I think I will go ahead and go for it. I appreciate the help and your channel!
Hey Norman! I am rebuilding my Kohler K181. I have done all the measurements, and everything is within spec except for the crankshaft. My out of round for the crankshaft is .0007. The max is .0005, the same as your engine. What should I do about this? I know nothing about machining. Your help is appreciated.
Hi Norman I have a problem with a k321 on a case 224 garden tractor after running it for about ten minutes oil will almost pour out of the head and run like a river down the side of the block any ideas thanks
I bet you have gas in your crankcase from a flooding carburetor. Your oil is way too thin from the gas going into it and the level is probably way too high. Pull your dipstick and smell it. Does it smell like gas?
i know im a little BUT if that is the case the oil MUST be changed ASAP. gasoline is a solvent not a lubricant. oil that has a high content of gasoline can quickly destroy the rod bearing (small engines dont really have a rod bearing you get the idea though), it can also cause other rapid excessive wear. keeping oil in an engine that has a high content in gasoline is a sure fire way to seriously shorten the engines life and require a rebuild much sooner then normal.
Way to late to help Matthew but may help others. My K181 had spark and compression and timing had been checked over and over yet still wouldnt fire. I ended up finding the exhaust valve wasn’t closing all the way and I was never getting full compression. Once I got my valves cleaned up and lash correct It fired right up.
Hello Norman I called your company in hopes that I could ask a question about this Kohler k series engine that I'm working on and they told me that you won't help me unless I buy parts from you. I had already bought parts elsewhere before I knew your channel existed. So you won't help a guy out?

This is the best site ever for parts and information on all of your small gas engines

isavetractors Can't wait! And thanks for taking time to make all these videos! I'm going to try and make some of the restoration of mine.

As always very good video! Makes you understand why it cost money to have a engine overhauled!

explanation of steps very clear. Thanks.

Hi Where can I get all these figures like max wear, mas taper, max oor for K181S engine?
Isavetractors.com
In our resources and then Service manuals tabs
@Isavetractors Hi Thank you I found it

You should contact a local machine shop to turn it to .010 undersized. We have listings of machine shops on our website.
@@Isavetractors After I have a machine shop .010 undersize it, should I select the .010" connecting rod on your website?
Where did you get the bore gauge and mics? Just curious love the videos, and the support for these machines keep it up 👍🏻
I needed to see the oil filler/level tube removal as mine is missing
You can press it out from inside the crankcase
I have a john deere that I picked up I would like to restore it has a K 301aqs engine in it.
Great videos! Curious why you didn't show the removal of the piston, crank , etc.? maybe you did and I just missed it.
It's in a different episode in this video series. Check the playlist on this channel. Thanks for watching
Dude I see it is cold in your shop. Any possibility of different measurements between a cold shop and a hot one? BTW, superb video!
Are these measurements and tolerances the same for the k241s
They are not. See our website and the resources tab for the full measurement and secs
@@Isavetractors bless u kind sir
Would i be correct that the process and order of reassembly would be the same?
Yes just in reverse.

@@ad356 unless it's a honda CRV with the 1.5L turbo motor...it LOVES gas fouled oil. honda says its perfectly normal too.
Any help with a 68 cub that has compression and spark but won't start?
Look into: Clean Air Filter, Point Gap, and Carburetor Condition.

this same method when we overhaul automobile engine??
Yes, the measuring procedure would be the same.
