    What a gift to Pippen fans and all Bulls fans of that era! I was at their home opener against the Sixers in '87. Two buddies and I walked up without tickets and got 3 of the last available seats. We got to our seats as they were introducing the starters. The old Chicago Stadium had lower-level seats, the back rows were up and under and had obstructed views. One of the seats was a little bit behind a beam. I could see that he was going to be a star after he drove the lane and slammed the ball with an and 1, and his gaze after the slam was then what it always was. He just belongs. It's the confident calm expressionless gaze he had after great plays. It's the intangible energy he had. We all marveled at how well he did as the top dog. Such a gentle giant superstar too. Great job highlighting the good cop/bad cop interplay with MJ and Pip with the other players. I would add that for a superstar with so many talents and accolades, he also seemed humble about his success. Scottie is beloved by Chicago Bulls fans. Thank you so much. One last thing, he is the first basketball player I followed, who I felt got better every year for about 8 years. He was one of the hardest-working players I've seen in any sport.

    Scottie "Icarus" Pippen. The only man alive that can say without a shadow of a doubt that he was in the Jordan Standard. I still have in my mind the moments he played with his back busted and you can see its the kind of injury thats so deep it takes the strength from your legs and he kept going for rebounds against 240 pounds men, thats heroic, those sacrifices should never be forgotten.

    This was really great Scotty. Scotty on Scotty 😆 😉. Thanks for putting it all together. I honestly think the one attribute where Scottie is and was underrated is his cardio or endurance. Anyone that’s ever played REAL LOCKDOWN BASKETBALL DEFENSE knows that it is 3x more exhausting than anything you’re doing on offense and Scottie just DID NOT GET TIRED. Those highlights of him picking up Magic full court in 91 Finals IN THE FIRST QUARTER are great examples.
    A lot of the athletes today may be a little bigger, faster, stronger but I think those gray beards had another level of endurance in their primes.

    Greg anthony says it right, when Scottie picked you up on that full court defense it was devastating. And he had the energy to do so for days. I think thats what made the bulls so hard to play against, i remember he and Jordan would just hound backcourts, it was hard for me to watch as a Laker fan, they were lethal. Even Magic couldnt bring the ball upcourt. They could just start doing that at any time and had the energy to do so, even late in the game. Never seen anything like that since.

    On the court, I absolutely loved Pippen. He was the most complete player in the game at the time. Hardcore on D. Solid distribution. Scored at will. Just an absolute gem.
    Off the court, his tender Ego has tarnished his reputation. MJ might have won some chip’s without him. But with him they were Batman and Robin on two 3-peat teams that go down in history. He could have saddled up next to MJ and said “we” did it. I wish he had. Let their run, their era stand as it was.

    ..my fave Pippen observation was how crafty he was as rebounder on the block when a teammate was at the FT line. On the right side of the key - as one is facing the basket - with his right forearm, Pippen would chop down n hold the opponents post rebounder's left leg (as the post rebounder always moves his left leg into the key to block out the opponent) and prevented the post player from getting his base and position set to get the rebound advantage. Then, this allowed Pippen to get inside the key position for a potential rebound. Is that a foul? Maybe. But the ref can't see that. Pippen had a counter move too. He used those moves judiciously to mask predictability. Just brilliant! I practiced and used that technique - it works!

    I'm so sad about the last few years of BS, but NEVER, NEVER forget that Scottie was a lynchpin, that he was the person who in all 6 years was Michael's peer. He was not Robin to Batman, he was Batman to Superman and consider for a moment who Batman is in that universe. Jordan was a great defender, but he was a profoundly opportunistic defender. Pippen SHUT PEOPLE DOWN.

    • @OlJackBurton
      @OlJackBurton Месяц назад +1

      the 60s Celtics dynasty is overrated. only 8 teams and 2 rounds of 7 game playoffs for the top seeds. a lot easier to get to the Finals every year (or almost every year like the 60s Lakers) especially when you have 4 other HOFers next to you, going against white "plumbers" on the other teams and getting the best record in the western conference (and homecourt advantage for the entire "playoffs" too), until you finally meet Jerry West and Elgin in the 2nd round (the Finals). the Bulls dynasty is the real greatest dynasty in basketball...

Well I was never at any of the Bulls practices. I was never in the locker room with the team. I never even sat with the Bulls during games. I don’t know Scotty Pipen. I never even met him. So that personal stuff, I’m not qualified to make any judgments. I do know one thing. Without Scotty Pipen, Micheal Jordon and the Bulls team would have never made the achievements that they did. They always mention Scottie was even more skilled than MJ. MJ might be the goat, but he is not humble, and no, he could not have won those championships without Scottie.

    Always remembered the year after #23 FIRST retired, that year Hakeem was on a mission in the West and everyone was dying to see how the East was going to shake out.
    Personally I had been I been convinced the last few years THE Top 3 players in the league in order were:
    Micheal Jordan
    Hakeem Olajuwan
    Scottie Pippen
    That year without Black Cat Scottie set out to prove me right. He flat out BALLED that year, winning the All-Star game MVP and bringing the Bulls nearly all the way without Jordan.
    Dream proved to be the best player left in the NBA that year but Scottie was RIGHT there too.

    Signature moment MJ in foul trouble vs Lakers, Pippen leads Bulls to a lead. Signature moment MJ in foul trouble vs Blazers, Pippen leads Bulls back to a lead. Jordan retires, Pippen has a great all time season is best player on his team and Phil Jax wants to give ball someone else, if it's MJ doing samething Pippen did and MJ used to tell coaches no, give me the ball and get it. People say Pippen is selfish, really - if my great player doesn't want the ball something is wrong. Bulls Vs Wizards , Pippen dunks ball hurts his back and saves the dynasty. Pip locking up Mark Jax, primary defender on Magic, Penny, Grant Hill, Drexler, .Jordan used to tell Kukoc I need you take a charge, how many charges MJ took? Pip is the one with bad back from taking charges on people like Malone throughout his career, how many charges in finals Pip had on Malone. I learned basketball from Pip, Rodman and Russell- MJ on Wizards was same MJ winning 3peat on Bulls but he never made playoffs without Pippen. If the Blazers didn't start shooting bad shots in game 7 vs Lakers history is different because Pip did his job in that series on Kobe, he posted him up and made him work every game. In my opinion that was passing of torch Kobe exploding in that game and beating Pippen and Blazers took up a notch, you see Kobe grabbing a rebound off Derek Fisher miss and putting it back in vs Spurs. Pippen was detailed, Dobermans- transition points is championship basketball, easy buckets off defense, Pippen pushing ball driving for dunk, pushing to 3pt line or lobbing to MJ on break is the highlights of modern game but these kids don't have substance from being battle tested through Pistons, Celtics, 90$ Knicks, Utah Jazz. I don't believe in GOAT, in my eyes Pip- Jordan, Phil and Tex, team game. Russel Cousy Red Auerbach, Bird-Mchale. Dream and Rud T. Pip was ultimate maintenance man, MJ was the performer - Pip allowed Jordan to rest on defense and be great closer. If you saying MJ is the Goat in what series did MJ have a battle ever play like a Shaq vs Dream, Wilt vs Russell, Wilt vs Kareem - even when Jordan was match Drexler , Pippen was main guy dealing with him, Drexler got tag teamed in finals. People need to watch games, Pacers vs Bulls went long because Larry Bird had Jslen Rose posting MJ up and not hiding and resting on defense. You see MJ tired grabbing his shorts, because he has play both ends, you can't shoot jumpers if you playing both ends, that's why modern game is trash, these guys don't play on both ends, Kawhi Leonard defense is more of impressive than Curry shooting from half court because rules favor offense and when this guy was healthy, his defense was impactful on winning like Pippen.

The problem was the director, I not again jordan , i like jordan, but jordan make mistakes to n the director don't put that. Went to play baseball n he might won 8 championship this my point. But scottie have problem with the family , went one of the family members was sick pippen did went to play baseball, Pippen was the most versatile player n I like pippen like kobe say Pippen was a genius n he deserves the credit, they have to make a statue of pippen like karl Malone n john Stockton jordan is there but pippen have to be there to next to jordan n make some respect because he won 6 championship to . Pippen in Barcelona stop 5 players n in the 90 he stop magic n he stop tony kukoc to , pippen n Rodman n jordan was the dream team. The director is the problem to put negative things, try to put pippen like he was a weeping player. Pippen have all the skills of each player of the nba larry bird 3point shot pippen do that n play like Rodman rebound play like jordan dunk, stealing the ball like john Stockton pippen was the force in the nba.

    The only person who under appreciates Scottie Pippen is Scottie Pippen. Jordan has always gave kudos to Pippen. Anyone who REALLY knows basketball knows what an icon and legend Scottie Pippen is to that bulls team and without him Jordan doesn't have 6. Pippen needed Jordan as much as Jordan needed Pippen. Mike gets the spotlight Scottie. Sorry that's how it is. MJ was the superstar. You're Robin and he's Batman. Doesn't mean you were less important.

    People always talking about the fact that MJ would have never won rings without Scottie, but they forget to mention that MJ made Scottie a better player. Scottie wanted to prove to MJ every game that he was an Elite player. MJ kept him focused that way. They both benefited from each other. For me, Scottie more, because he would never have reached the levels he did without MJ. MJ on the other hand would have won a ring or two without him.

    The real question that should be asked/answered would be to Phil Jackson……why in hell did not give Pippin the ball in that game ? Regardless of the fact that Kukoc made the shot it should’ve been given to Pippin he was their leader and best player!! After all that Pippin went through with his contract and how that situation was handled Phil goes and does that to Pippin! Just imagine of Pippin got the ball and made the shot Pippin would have a moment in his hall of fame career where he could hang his hat on to say he made game winning shot without the help of Mj !! Phil fucked that up for Pippin!

      Bulls fan here, native Chicagoan who knows who Dave Corzine is.
      Pippen could shoot threes but I wouldn’t call him a three point shooter. That was Kukoc’s game.
      A lot of that was contract beef. That Krause had chased Kukoc instead of throwing money at Pippen.
      For the game situation, Phil made the right call. The fact that Pippen had to apologize to all of his teammates, instead of them making Phil apologize to Scottie, that kinda backs up the “Phil did the right thing”.

    • @Matt-zp1jn
      @Matt-zp1jn Месяц назад

      The fact that Phil, Scottie, and Kucoc had that bad situation, and they ALL were NOT on the same galaxy much less the SAME PAGE at that time, even after the game, shows WHO was primarily at fault in the hierarchy and leadership!
      The Coach should have had an ongoing plan for his new star #1 player 1 on 1 in private confidence and communicate, verify setup plans, and debrief with Scottie before that start to the season, games, timeouts, playoffs, etc. Pippen had EARNED and deserved that respect and honesty upfront.
      Phil still treated Scottie like his #2 guy (maybe out of habit idk), and that playcall was a disrespectful moment by the Coach (an Krause ownership low contract pay to Pip vs kukoc etc).
      Coach is mostly responsible and Pippen deserved an apology.
      Pip did wrong with bad sportsmanship publicly by sitting out the play tho tbf.

    Pippen was a great player, and Jordan didn't show him in true light he should have. There must be multiple behind the scenes things that happened for him to have come out the way he has against Jordan. We'll never know what has really caused either of them to disconnect, and maybe it's better we don't know, it must have been very personal. I think from off court exploits it's easy to see who caused the rift. Leave competition to sports and out everyday life.

    They always like MJ never won chips with out pippen ... 100 no doubt about it...he was needed but MJ before pippen was the best player in the league...scotty without MJ is probably just an okay player and would not have developed as fast as he did nor to the level he did but MJ would still be the best player in the league without him maybe no chips or just 1 or 2 but that is what we all have to remeber and the one thing i alwasy say is MJ gives pippen the credit and MJ produced the last dance for one and 2nd he was the ctalyst for those chps so he should have been talked about more...Piippen lost a ton of fans respect because he doesnt handle certain critiques and criticisms as he should! I never understand why being in the top 20 ever or top 30 ever or even 50 is not enough! There can only be one MJ one Goat one best of all time and only so many that can be considred the greeats of the league all time and to be considred one of those should be neough! MJ is a player beyond comparison !

    The GM and marketing of the 1st. Dream Team develop a marketing for denounce and diminish Scottie Pippen careers. Beside win 1994 ALL STAR AND BE IN FINAL ON EAST AND WEST latter on his career without Jordan. Now we have seen the same players talking a little positive. Those days the media was basically the TV and sport channel. Today's date media it's different and Scottie doing the same thing on todays date will provide a different perspective of Scottie. Thank God Michael Jordan got Scottie Pippen.
    Why Happened all this??? Really I don't know. Probably to be introvert!
