Listening to the first 15 minutes of his story proves that God is always working even when you think He's not. That little boy going through a traumatic event, and Dennis' willingness to be an ear for a lonely boy changed the trajectory of both their lives in huge ways. My goodness, how crazy is it to look back and see how God is playing chess and moving pieces into place without our knowledge. This should be a reminder to all of us that we are instruments in His hands and that through us, miracles are accomplished each and every day.

Don’t see how his emergence from discord and poverty has anything to do with God lending a hand. What about the multitudes not born with the physical attributes of Rodman? Why didn’t the sky wizard help them? Oh, guess you’d say “It’s God’s will.”

We all have a moral compass and some people listen to that more than others. Dennis is so much stronger than people gave him credit for and it’s extremely admirable. (Sadly) it’s human nature to judge something or someone that looks or acts different as odd or there’s possibly something wrong with them. Unfortunately, we’ve probably all been guilty of this but these examples are good reminders to never judge a book by its cover. What a cool guy with a huge heart!

I’ve never heard an interview with another nba player, coach , friend etc. who has a bad word to say about Dennis. His story of not playing basketball until relatively late in life. Then to accomplish what he did is inspiring. When I was young and watched him play, especially his off court antics. I always assumed he was a jerk. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Never judge a book by its cover is so true.

1 of the most honest & open sports figures ever who stood tall thru every attack on his character theMedia tried to destroy him with on & off the court & even his Life in retirement to this day they still tryin' to break that Man down instead of building him up, but that's their nature...they fear what they don't understand & hate what they can't conquer, OnlyTheStrongSurvive & Dennis is the living definition of that...plus...
      he's pound4pound 1 of

He's very similar to Mike Tyson in that both are brutally forthright about their lives. The public loves them for both their greatness in sport in spite of their personal struggles. Interesting dynamic...

@@robertchflynnAgree 100%. I just don't like the violence streak in Tyson. Other than that I find them, as you do, very similar.

I've always admire Dennis even more after I found out he didn't start playing basketball til he was 21 yrs old.. for someone like me who dreams was to play in the NBA since I was 6yrs old and it never happened i remember days watching the NBA draft with tears in my eyes like that's going to be me I thought I was on my way because I was a 5th grader playing on a 8th grade team and won mvp as a 5th grader for Dennis to catch on to that sport that fast is "AMAZING" what Dennis accomplished is out of this world..and i have nothing but love for him because his life story is very soul touching and i pray God continues to bless all his hopes and dreams🙏

I am a lifelong Sixers fan but I always loved and respected and appreciated Dennis as a player and a person. The guy at the beginning of the show said "one of the best rebounders", yes, but I would say "one of the best defensive players of all time". Anybody can say what they want about him, but this man gave his ALL in every practice and every game, and he has a huge heart and is a very loving person.

I never knew that Dennis had had a hard childhood such as this. I can't imagine having a mother who never told me that she loved me,l think it would have been so difficult. I wasn't a fan of his because he was a Laker whereas l was a 6ers fan. My heart cries out for him as to never judge a book ever again.I give much respect to him for his inner strength to be the best at his craft.
