Good story but it's certainly embellished. Rodman was a freak but he wasn't picking up someone weighing 250 at a bar with one hand.

I've seen a lot of people on multiple videos talk about how amazed they were with Dennis Rodman because he would work out after games and said he was an energizer bunny. I use to love watching Dennis Rodman’s highlights. This was when I use to play a lot of basketball. It’s crazy how he went into the hall of fame by literally just rebounding and playing good defense.
I met Rodman at the Gumball rally when they stopped in Dallas. Dude was super nice, someone tried to start a fight with him over nothing in the elevator we were in. He defused it in like 10 seconds. I don't know him of course, but my hour or 2 of hanging with him was pleasant.
I heard the story of Rodman going to Vegas in between finals games and a teammate had to go and fetch him. I did not, however, know it was none other than BILLY CORGAN he was hanging with. Just insane. Two guys I would never peg to be bros. The story of him ditching him and going to North Korea next day is also golden. There is only one Dennis Rodman.
Same experience I had when first hearing Corgan in interviews in the past. Extremely balanced, nice, genuine person, and very intelligent as well. Add well spoken to that list too. Talented beyond words, his unplugged he just did this week on some show live, I forget which, blew me away.
People love to hate him because he has opinions and is not shy about sharing them. Even he admits he's not always right...but he talks and likes to shoot the shit. Young retards disslike him because he rages against the mass corporate whore media and music industry and these retrards copy and paste what popmusic and idiots tell them.
Rodman is a surprisingly emotional guy and it makes sense that Billy would mention him being in tears. I've seen him get all misty eyed several times on television and his documentary: "Dennis Rodmans Big Bang in Pyongyang"
This is one of those cultural things that people have really different opinions on. Expecting that people greet you when you are in the same place and say goodbye to you when you leave is a form of social control. It comes from childhood when parents, rightfully, control the comings and goings of kids for security reasons. I never understood why people try to do that to each other once they grow up. Must be a pecking order thing. Obviously, Dennis Rodman doesn't have to submit sh!t to Billy Corgan.
Super Rich people roll this way a lot .. I kinda... yeah I love these stories from Bill Corgan. And envy him for being in that bubble in the latter part of what was one of the greatest sports dynasties... the Bulls of 96-98
He definitely deserves it more than fucking Obama did. And Rodman's comments about how nobody in the Obama administration gave a fuck about making peace with NK is very telling.
All I know is he played the basketball and had crazy hair. Vaguely remember seeing a video of him shaking hands with the leader of North Korea as well.
I dmed billy corgan one day telling him how his song today gave me the motivation to get a very important job to me. And he liked my dm that was and always will be a great moment in my life. Billy is a great man
As someone who has lived in Michigan my entire life, I always knew Dennis Rodman as one of the Detroit Pistons "Bad Boys" along with Bill Laimbeer and Isiah Thomas. In the late 80's and early 90's they were known for being the dirtiest players in the NBA, they played super rough defense and would even intentionally hurt/injure other players when the referee wasn't looking. They were sort of seen as the villains of the NBA that everyone feared at the time because they were basically playing football on the basketball court and winning championships. I remember both Michael Jordan as well as Larry Byrd doing interviews where they talked about how much they hated the Detroit Bad Boys and how badly they'd get hurt on the court. I remember seeing Rodman get super famous in the mid to late 90's and being like "that guy used to play for my team" lol.
Billy Corgan might be the most underrated rockstar of all time. It definitely didn’t help that he came up around the same time as Kurt Cobain who would become the biggest rockstar of that era. Billy is a musical genius.
He definitely is. He said he's still got hundreds of songs unreleased as well. It's hard to believe that the foo fighters are in the hall of fame instead of the smashing pumpkins 🤦♂️
Corgan is fantastic. Howard Stern's interview was epic as well. Went to a concert a few years ago and he played all the most popular stuff in the beginning then let everyone know the end of the concert would be for mega fans who wanted to hear music from the new album. Class.
I remember seeing Dennis play in Cleveland. The Cavs are playing 2 7' guys at the same time. Rebounds would bounce up in the air and Rodman would out muscle them for the ball. They would sandwich Rodman, and Dennis would knock them away. One of the damnedest things I've ever seen.
Billy kind of reminds me of myself. I was in a band while in my 20's and nobody in the group could understand why I was such a sports fanatic. They could have cared less but like Billy, I lived and died with Orioles, Colts, Wizards, etc...could tell you all the players stats and followed all of them religiously. All in the same time of recording music that was very much Goth/Metal, dressed in all black, etc.... The paradox was beyond hilarious.
I got to party with Dennis Rodman back in 2017 in Newport Beach. Let me tell you we were buying each other Drinks and i was buying him drinks. Super genuine dude. No bullshit. Saw him about 4 weeks later once again in Newport beach and we automatically connected. He invited me in his Range Rover for some cigars. He had literally over 50 cigars in his ride. We smoked one up in his ride. Let me tell you i love that guy. So surreal. I have a photo of it if you haters don't believe me but the guy still works out twice a day told to me by his girlfriend at the time. Legend
Gotta hand it to Joe. He made Billy feel pretty comfortable (at least he seemed comfortable) during this interview. I’ve never seen Billy so happy and energetic and funny like this in any other interview. Seems like Joe brought the best out of him. Pretty impressive!
I lived in Chicago same time as all this was going on! I hung out in the VIP at a few different clubs in Chicago and Dennis and Billy were always together partying. That is was the height of the Bulls with Rodman,Jordan, Pippen and we won 3 peat! I am so glad he said that it was such an Awesome time back then....bc IT WAS Fucking awesome!

Indeed. He showed that dominating a game doesn’t necessarily require scoring a ton of points.
Greatest rebounder of all time he was a nasty sob on the pistons.
Jonny Augz The Detroit bad boys n stuffs
The greatest rebounder of all time was Moses Malone.
Aitor Tilla nope
Rodman isn't even in the top 20 all-time most rebounds.
Aitor Tilla Mugse Boags the goat
I met Rodman at the Gumball rally when they stopped in Dallas. Dude was super nice, someone tried to start a fight with him over nothing in the elevator we were in. He defused it in like 10 seconds. I don't know him of course, but my hour or 2 of hanging with him was pleasant.
And he is freakishly strong. He would’ve given the dude an ol’ fashioned ass whoopin’
The 2003 Gumball rally ?
@@weworks7811 I want to say it was later than that. We were at Ghost Bar.
@@Ryansrangereport 2009 ?
@@weworks7811 yeah that sounds right. I met Tony Hawk as well.
It was steve kerr and judd beuchler
I believe Rodman is a Rock and Country fan.
So, he was probably a big fan of Corgan in the 90's.
"You want a quick story?" Always if it's Rodman related.
Billy is a good man
Very cool in this interview. Seems down to earth at this point in his career.
Very down to earth. I totally did NOT expect that from Billy Corgan...
JonnyUnderrated l
Rodman is a surprisingly emotional guy and it makes sense that Billy would mention him being in tears. I've seen him get all misty eyed several times on television and his documentary: "Dennis Rodmans Big Bang in Pyongyang"
Rodman pulled an Irish Farewell on Corgan. Hell, I do it all the time. Or I just shout, "Bye y'all!" as I'm already out the door.
You haven’t reached your 30s if you’re against a good ol fashion Irish farewell. Classic move that just has to be made sometimes.
Super Rich people roll this way a lot .. In Restaurants especially.. they just walk out , even with a group of people , , because the Owner knows them, and they know the Accountant just gets a BILL and pays it ..or they have an account paid monthly.... Rich people dont hang out and say Goodbye, or wait for the Bill ... its something only us Schmucks who no one recognizes have to do or else the Cops will come ..
I never say bye, slip out and I'm gone !
Ghost face
Billy "Wanna hear a quick story" Corgan
I kinda... yeah I love these stories from Bill Corgan. And envy him for being in that bubble in the latter part of what was one of the greatest sports dynasties... the Bulls of 96-98
Who's here after Kevin Heart's interview with Dennis Rodman? Just curious since autoplay got me here
Yeah same shit happened to me. Next thing you know you're binge watching rodman videos
Same
I am lol
same
I'm here after plane crash videos.
Dennis Rodman deserves a Nobel Peace Prize... pass it on!
frickinay, right? what does billy say now!
He definitely deserves it more than fucking Obama did. And Rodman's comments about how nobody in the Obama administration gave a fuck about making peace with NK is very telling.
All I know is he played the basketball and had crazy hair. Vaguely remember seeing a video of him shaking hands with the leader of North Korea as well.
how has Dennis NOT been on joes podcast wtf
He was on big brother in the uk.
I dmed billy corgan one day telling him how his song today gave me the motivation to get a very important job to me. And he liked my dm that was and always will be a great moment in my life. Billy is a great man
This story never gets old. Thank you.
It's crazy how people forget how good Dennis was.
Nobody forgets how great Dennis was, even this new generation know how great he wasm
You should’ve brought on bill burr it would’ve been the brightest podcast of all time
Whitest or Brightest?
The Don fuck bill and fuck u. Fuckkkk uuuuuuuuu ya hear me? Fuck uuuuu
Joey Blue cheese Diaz If you don’t calm down your head is going THROUGH THAT FUCKING WALL!!!
The Don don’t make me get up u fuck. I’m eatin a pizza. Don’t make me get up am tellin ya
Joey Blue cheese Diaz ...fat fuck comment...
I just watched Dennis's 30 for 30 doc wow what a unique human. Love him!!
Man you can tell by the way Billy is talking that he really liked Dennis.
Work makes you strong. Real work. For a lifetime.
Billy on point with sports, I love that.
Billy Corgan might be the most underrated rockstar of all time. It definitely didn’t help that he came up around the same time as Kurt Cobain who would become the biggest rockstar of that era. Billy is a musical genius.
His band was great. I liked them for a while.
Love his music but can’t stand the man.
He definitely is. He said he's still got hundreds of songs unreleased as well. It's hard to believe that the foo fighters are in the hall of fame instead of the smashing pumpkins 🤦♂️
Billy is a way better musician and songwritter than Kurt ever was. Mellon Collie shits on anything Nirvana has ever put out.
Fast forward today, Dennis turned out to be the icebreaker, and he DID make the difference!
He just gets up and leaves, that's the way he is 😂
So fortunate to have lived in Chicago in the early 90s. These stories bring back some great memories.
Corgan is fantastic. Howard Stern's interview was epic as well. Went to a concert a few years ago and he played all the most popular stuff in the beginning then let everyone know the end of the concert would be for mega fans who wanted to hear music from the new album. Class.
I could hang with billy forever. "Want to hear a story?" Yes yes i do
:52 we call that that "natural nigga strength" 💯
"The City by the Lake" Billy is right, Chicago was the place to be for basketball fans in the '90's. Happy memories!
By far the best rebounder ever!
Joe is a smart guy , he's learned a lot ....unless it's team sports then he a fish on land
The way he wears that coat he looks like a fairy godfather.
Legend
I had no idea Billy Corgan was an NBA fan. That's so cool.
LegendofBamBam he’s a huge fan. He played high school basketball
Nah, he's just a fan of the BBC
@@aspartamekillsyaknow9019 yeah bro British TV is great.....I like when sherlock is on BBC and love it when big stars are riding on the BBC bandwagons
He’s from Chicago and witnessed Jordan with the bulls in the 90s, that help
Billy Corgan must have been on some heavy shit if he saw Rodman pick up a 250 pounds man by his head with 1 hand.
Hahaha
this is unbelievable that this got recommended right now
C B I believe you. But idk man it seams like you have put a lot of effort into that. Moderation is all I’m saying.
1979 a classic. Always hits the feels
Dennis Rodman wins again.
Billy Corgan is a rock God. A musical genius.
I come back to watch this video every few months. I love this story.
Dennis was a machine
I swear to God Dennis could still be viable in the NBA today. I really believe it. My favorite workhorse player of ALL TIME. Fucking insane... pure champion.
He would foul out every game in this soft league. He was an animal on the boards
Dennis NEVER had to show up for practice. He was a natural athlete. Never needing practice unlike his teammates having to practice. He is such a fascinating person
Teams that win like that don't practice much
Smashing pumpkins is easily one of the greatest bands of all time.
Meh 😒
saw them at summerfest in milwaukee years ago and they sounded terrible by far worst show and I like the pumpkins but everyone has shit days
They are definitely in my top thousand.
That's without question
Dennis kept us entertained, what antics!
I did enjoy watching him play!
Billy is the biggest human walking on earth!! Love this guy
Rogan be like "Basketball...basketball...is that the one where you kick it?"
