Great review. While I think Superman '78 is very much a product of its time at this point, it still has several scenes of real, lasting impact and a stereophonic masterpiece of a soundtrack. I think the first 40 or so minutes are the best. It tells the origin as well as anyone probably will.

Indeed! We dig a bit deeper into the film's legacy and merits in the upcoming VHS Podcast - dropping on the channel Wednesday July 10th! Thanks for the comment!

Fantastic review!!! Superman is still my favourite superhero film of all time and really one of my fave films in general. Reeve absolutely captured the humility of Clark, the humanity of Superman, and the empathy of both. No other Superman actor since has conveyed these qualities (however Tyler Hoechlin got the closest)

The DVD set, in the lower left, is among the best ever released.

Indeed! Got it the day it came out and love everything about it. I have a similar one for the original Planet of the Apes film series (14 discs) - very comprehensive. Thanks for the comment!
