We act like diamond engagement rings have been a "forever tradition"....nope, started being a thing in the early 1950s with the most hated male slogan; "A diamond is forever" . SMH.

Hahha I am in the same ballpark as Anthony! My wife and I managed to keep our wedding to just under 5k. Prioritized investments and putting 20% down on our first mortgage. That’s just us. You need to have a game plan as the man. Then she will follow lead. This is what I did. If she wants to splurge on a certain item such as the dress or the food or the music. You agree that y’all only have one item to splurge on. Choose wisely. My wife chose the dress and we had family make the food and a dj. You can do it wisely. It was probably the most expensive and nicest one in any of the shops in Cebu. About a 10ft train, extremely detailed. Most of the dresses there are about 100-200 dollars equivalently and equal about a 1-3,000 dollar dress in the US. Hers I can only guess is about a 10-15,000+ dollar dress. That was a huge savings.
