Cant believe how well that thing runs. Other than the fact that the body is beat up it is super solid as far as rust goes. I'm guessing it is the 250 cu in engine, they are pretty reliable. I've got a 65 C10 with the 230 and did significant machine work to the heads, bored it out and hung a set of headers and a 4 bbl Offy intake on it. Cool old truck.
That is an awesome truck. The boom crane made by the Greatest Generation is a piece of art and history. That truck and crane dolled up with Christmas decorations would be great!!! Thanks for the video man!!
sounds like that farmer wants it more for the boom then the truck. buy him a newer runner , and put the boom in it . farmer gets his boom YOU get the truck !!
My brother's 65 GMC short bed looked like that, but it now has a new 350 and a 350 Turbo trans with street gears (highway) 30 years ago. It's a beauty with a white paint job, chrome grille and bumper, and 6-lug rally wheels. Valued at $20k! At that time the truck had a blown engine so he offered the guy a little trailer for it. What a deal!
That’s awesome! Those Shortbed’s are tough to find anymore. My buddy and I picked another one up recently with a big back window that will hopefully be on the channel soon as well.
@@Rustwrangler Try finding a GMC those are rare. Love that aggressive GMC grille! I see one parked in a driveway for a few years now just sitting there showing that GMC grille... long bed though.
@@Rustwrangler My brother bought a perfect chrome grille with GMC emblems and chrome bumper sitting in an auto dismantler yard. He has a small window GMC short bed.
Haha, thanks! We go back there every year, and are good friends with the farmer. I’ll keep working at it, and hopefully some year he’ll be willing to let it go.
Looks a lot like my 1960 GMC. Mine was parked in the desert for 37 years, has the 305 V6. Very surprised the doglegs on the fenders are rust free. Good truck.
It is mounted on a turntable, it’s pretty neat, it’s actually a big gear and there’s a wheel on the side that you turn by hand to get it to swivel. The farmer said he used it back in the day to stack hay. Now they just use a jcb forklift.
Hey rust wrangle! I saw you video with the old d 100. My dad has a old 72 that he is restoring right now and cannot find a tailgate that match his truck. This might be an annoyance but if there’s a chance you would listen to an offer the one on the orange truck it would truly make for a awesome Christmas present. Please rely to me if you would be willing to listen to an offer. Thanks
You can tell that engine is out of a newer truck. Wrong breather, rubber oil fill cap on the valve cover, the chain hook bracket mounted to the head, and the hose coming from the breather to the side of the valve cover. Not judging the truck. Just pointing out that engine is probably not the original most likely. Good find. Very workable. Could be a 250 straight six?
Go buy a new Accelerator pump in the carb and she will run like new it deserves it.sitting all that time, Cut the sling off leave it to the farmers, what use is it.
I thought you Bought, it, Now you will never get the truck, He will sell it for a lot of money, all that for a video, If he was a friend then I would have fixed for nothing, to help, Hope he has a heart, in the future.
Not to be rude, but if I owned that truck I wouldn't sell it to you either because I know what you would do to it. You would probably swap in an LS then slam the truck to the ground. I denied selling a 1960 Chevy pickup to a guy once who wanted to do the same thing. I told him NO WAY would I sell a great old truck to someone who's just going to tear it up and ruin it's originality.
@@Rustwrangler -- I know you have a bagged/LS swapped truck, I've watched your videos and that was the premise of my original comment. These trucks are getting harder to find, especially in stock form and one of many reasons is because you guys are buying them up and destroying them. I'll never sell my '60 Chevy, which is restored and stock. When I'm gone it's going to my son or grandkids, and they've already promised to keep it stock.
The only 65/66 worth having is the GMC. Most of these trucks 60-66 are ugly. Especially the farm trucks. Ask any hot woman. Take a poll. I dare you. Lol.
I would like to know ,Who started, this, Patina crap, A 66 Chevy Is a Nice truck a deserves a True Paint job, to me Leaving a old truck looking old is , is so stupid, And take that hay sling off the back and junk it, or sell it. There's no rust, every dent on the Truck can be fixed,That truck is loved by a lot of people, Great body stlye, Put a nice LS motor, it will run like a new truck, and be dependable.
WOW wo ur a bless man of the LORD with wisdom to fix them old truck ..im going to pray to GOD to give u grace and favour in all of ur endeavors..hit mark 11; 24 and if u canst believe u will recieve wat u pray for amen and no monkey business hee hee hee amen
Those inline 6 are flawless
Yea, I couldn’t believe how well it ran!

Truck seemed so happy to quit sittin around and get running again, good stuff man
great going admire your enthusiam

Nice work getting it running again..
Cool truck and those I6 motors keep going. Looking forward to seeing the hay boom in action.
Thanks, hopefully I can do a follow up on the hay boom next time I go back there.
Can’t kill those 6 bangers!!

Awesome Video Thanks For Sharing, ONLY one Small Criticism, You need a Mic.
Thank you! And yes, I’m planning on getting a mic soon.
Keep coming with the will it runs! You will start getting more subs and more views. People like this kind of content
Thanks, yea that’s kind of what I’m working towards, I’ve got a few more lined up that I’m getting ready to work on.

1000plus chevy truck rebuilds on the net im over it
US Forest service or parks badge on the door, and correct color too
Last year of the unique-looking GM trucks.
did you figure out what packed the rotar and radiator cap with vegetation?
I asked the farmer, and he said it’s from some kind of wasp that’s around those parts.
That looks like some kinda movie filming truck 🤔
Never ever seen a distributor with mouse nest in it! Very unusual
Was definitely a surprise when I took the cap off!
The logo outlines on the doors looks like Union Pacific Railroad's.
Bonita máquina.
What state is it in ? Still looks warm for November. Thats a cool old truck for sure. Thanks man.
This was in eastern washington, and was around the beginning of October.
It almost looks like the boom is mounted on some sort of turn table, but I can’t really tell for sure. Any thoughts on the setup.

It’s my brothers truck, I’ll ask him if he’s interested in selling the tailgate.
I would offer to transfer the hay boom to some i-beams so you can take the truck
Haha, believe it or not, I actually offered to switch it over to another truck.

You don’t need to worry about jumping the starter right below a gas can
Sparks and gas, what could go wrong!? 😂
Will he sell it to you? What state are you in?
In Washington, I’m going to keep trying every year, so we’ll see!
You might want to shut the head lights off
I got a 63 and I've got a V8 in it
So is the farmer going to sale it to you?
Possibly in the future, for now it’s not going anywhere.
Crazy he never drives it and doesn’t sell. Just park it back in the weeds lol really
It’s got sentimental value to him.
Patina, is French means real crappie paint!!!!
Sounds great but of course it is a Chevy
Haha, agreed!
