I agree wholeheartedly, especially since another page/video channel I have been following - and have learned a tremendous amount from - has become increasingly hostile to people of faith in recent weeks.
Love how you give us scripture❣️ To share how God has given us all we need Wish I had this information when I was a young mom!!! Well I’ll be researching, studying and learning a new as a grandma 🙏🏼
I just recently started using wild lettuce. I forage and extract it myself. At 500mg, my asthma completely clears up, flemm and all. I don’t cough like I normally do and the lung freedom is way better then Albuterol or Symbicort. It takes about an hour, but it also clears my sinus cavities and is better then a typical nasal spray to me.
I've made wild lettuce salve. It works incredibly for pain. Typically I would not share with as it is homemade. My two friends used small amounts. One for knee pain, the other on back pain. They were both flabbergasted at the relief.
Oh my goodness!! I totally agree with you on big farma and herbs. I take 7 different meds a day. And I also have hypothyroidism. I have been really thinking about going all natural for my health. Yes, God has created all these natural things for us to use. Thank you for posting, you have really encouraged me.
You have a great outlook on the plant .can relate so much ,I got a far way to go I am looking for friends I need seeds and plant . Wonderful I am believing too . Beautiful women beautiful person .
That's wonderful that you have both gotten off of your thyroid medication! And as an Agnostic person, who has two science (Biology) degree, I TOTALLY agree with you that nature is meant to sustain us, not all these synthetic drugs. I'm 52 and don't take any medications whatsoever. And I don't have pain or any maladies. I just eat organic and try to avoid sugar and stay as close to nature as I can in all parts of my life. I think one of the huge things ALL people, regardless of how we define our spirituality, could agree on is that our physical vessels are of this earth and the earth is what nourishes and sustains us. I've studied ecology and animal behavior and one of my heroes is a scientist name Edward (E. O.) Wilson. He wrote many wonderful books but one of his greats is called "Creation: An Appeal to Save Life on Earth" was a plea to religious people about protecting our mother earth, their God-given home. I recommend it. He's a wonderful man and many young biologists and ecologists have spent their lives trying to live up to his legacy. Thanks again for all your awesome and important educational videos! HUGS!
Wow you are such wonderful communicator to give us such recipes for so many things! I am sure it takes so much of your time to do this! Thank you and God bless!

*The Complete Medicinal Herbal* has been my favorite reference book for years. It's fully illustrated and has a huge ailments guide in the back that lists all kinds of information for every herb you could think of. It also has great info on how to use different parts of plants and how to make poultices, pills, teas, essences, etc. Always my go-to
Thank you for another great vdeo. I moved house last year. Going to plant a specialised herb garden of medicinal and culinary herbs. i don't have a car and have not seen any good garden centres for herbs so was pleased when I found a good website in Ireland last night specialising in Medicinal herbs. Have watched your video today was brilliant information. Have ordered one herb book so far and a wild foraging book. Ruth

There are many different herbs that can do the same things as the ones I grow do that may grow better in your area so it is good to have a list and then find what grows best. Mullein for example prefers much dryer climates than ours but is excellent for lung health and more. For us, we can get old man's beard which is a lichen that grows all around here and it has similar attributes as mullein. That is just an example but I have quite a few lists put together such as one for pain, one for antivirals, one for antibiotics, and many more. You will find them in this playlist and I still have more to add to it: ruclips.net/p/PLzVtTPDzFPKEs8fB5HCfYibacHLnA645a

Comfrey and Echinacea are new to my garden this year. Comfrey is also a finished compost as soon as you cut it. This is a perfect first video for herbs. Thank you!
So with your recommendations, I'm on the hunt. I have a black walnut tree, which is the neighbors, but it's invaded our yard over the 50 to 70 years that the houses have been here. I'm learning that a lot of the herbs I may be interested in will grow under it. The previous owners of the 2 houses had a huge flower garden that we dug under as new 20-year-old homeowners. Now that I'm interested in herbs, I'm realizing that there were a LOT of these herbs in that garden. There were even fiddle head ferns growing by the house that we dug up. I kick myself now, but I will get a small section of that back. You may not be a licensed expert, but you share enough knowledge to help get us started. For that, I'm thankful. Now I'm off to hunt for a book specific to the upper midwest. Have a great day!
@@adolfpanzerbjorn8308 When we moved in to our house we were in our early 20's & did not want them. I certainly wasn't going to care for it. I hate working outside in the heat. I hate weeds & bugs. So we dug it up and planted grass. 20 years later, I've changed a little and want about a fourth of what was originally here. So I'll make a new herb & flower bed under the old walnut tree & see what happens. Maybe by the time I'm 60 I'll know what I'm doing.

Rosa canina, or dog rose, is right up there with rosa rugosa, and many consider it THE best. It is usually used for commercial herbal rose products in health products
Good morning Heidi. So glad you brought back this herb video. You have chosen my favorites to talk about! Rosa Rugosa is amazing. My brother-in-law forbids me to grow it because it gets in the hay fields. We already have an invasive rose that we are burning out. The Rugosa has more vitamin C than orange juice. I will buy the rose hips. Another one of my favorites is Rose Geranium. I use it for cake batters. Place a leaf or two on the bottom of your cake pan, cover with parchment paper and pour your white cake batter. The geranium will scent your cake like rose water. Comfrey makes me bervous. I use it for fertilizer tea or a salve. Love- LOVE Borage! It attracts our bees to the garden and is loaded with Omega 3. Super Bees :-) I like to sugar the blue blossoms and use it in the oil form. Thank you for sharing these herbs Heidi. Yes, do refer to a reliable herb reference book.
I’ve used both nasturtium and oregano tinctures for UTI problems. They both fix it. Oregano seems to work faster but I prefer the taste of the nasturtium.
Hi ya Heidi!!! Not only do I appreciate ur knowledge on what u know, it is ur passion on/of it. A 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 I say to u on this video!!! Along time ago, coming to know that weeds were wild edibles, and their medicinal values, and knowing the creator of them, far outweighs medicines of man which can cause more problems. With the way this world is heading, it would be nice to grow them all, having ones own pharmacy will be a good item to barter with. Though with the time it takes to learn and know them all, I think I’ll start with the basics, the ones for colds and flu, antibiotics, and pain. Ur awesome Heidi! Thank u
Came across you a week or so ago and absolutely Iove the videos I have watched so far. So very helpful as I have only just really started on my natural/herbal life. Thank you for all you do and share. I have already got 6 or so books. Loving the research side of it all before I dive in to purchasing anything. Once we have a place with a garden, hopefully next year I will definitely start growing our own 😀 ❤️
Excellent! Thank you. I'm also in the Pacific northwest. Very informative video. You've given me inspiration to not let these beautiful things go to waste because I already have a lot of these growing in the backyard.
Love h Heidi, What a great video. I always learn so much from you!! I have that Rodale book too...and found it at a garage sale too...how funny!! We are kindred spirits!! Thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge and sharing your recommendations with us. Love Rosemary’s and Amy’s books - both are great. And I love how you described Rosemary’s book as “new age-ie”...Yes!! LOL!! You definitely have to look over some of that!! LOL!! Love, Mary (So glad you like the Pacific NW book!! 😀) Love, Mary❤️😘❤️
That book is really great that you sent, I had more time after the initial video I did awhile back when you sent it to look it over more and am quite pleased with it, much better than the one I had purchased locally!
Yes to plantain 👍👍👍. I did the same with a hornet; felt something on the back of my arm, brushed it off without looking, but instead got stung between my fingers. Used plantain which helped a lot.
I have been stung, chewed up a plantain leaf, and applied it. I had a bandana on hand and wrapped it around. It worked great! Also to anyone nervous about buying a used book without seeing it first I can say that I have several from Amazon that are in perfectly fine condition.
I bought marshmallow seeds from you and they all grew very good, I live in zone 9,I put one in a pot and is doing good, the other one is in the ground and doing great.
I have so many herbs growing in my yard now, my rosemary is four yrs. Old and is two feet high and as wide as me 😁 my thyme is about a foot high and a foot in a half wide. I have nasturtium s but I don't live in the right climate for yr round but that ok. I use them all for cooking and gifts to friends. I got Artichokes to grow here. Funny everyone said they wouldn't. I think you can grow it if you want just need the right spot👍Be ever so Blessed ❤ just so ya know I started out with brown thumbs .
I love used book websites like thriftbooks for this type of thing as well as garage sales. (People in my town love this kind of thing, so sometimes you can find some great stuff)
I cannot figure out why you don't have a million subscribers. I feel sorry for anyone who isn't subscribed to your channel. They are missing so much! I am going to send this link to some facebook groups now.
I try comfrey as cough reliever and vomited. But it worked good for kids. It grow well here. I transplanted 5 pierces this year and its going wild . And work good give tomatoes a boost when slow growing.
I agree with you and believe God put here on earth everything we need. I am trying to get started this year on growing herbs and learning how to use them. Also trying to learn about the weeds around us as well. Thank you for the information you share.
Love your videos. Thanks for wonderful information. This weekend in my area we are having the Master Gardeners plant sale. I’m going to look for some information on these herbs. Thanks again.
I agree, we've added herbs every year, some have been failures for our zone but many more have been very successful. We also love horseradish and horehound. We also grow cilantro, I can not stand the smell or taste but when it goes to seed it' coriander and we like using this in our sausage and meat rubs. Speaking of vitamin C , we also use mountain ash berries( after a good frost) for making jam( tastes like orange marmalade) and dry the berries for use in teas because of the high vitamin C content. Buffalo berries are similar, but picking is a challenge with the thorns. Among our medicinal and culinary herbs are also dyeing herbs, that we grow to make our own dyes for wool, soaps, and other craft projects.
I love cilantro for both the herb and the seed. I try to grow it every year but it always wants to bolt and I rarely get much from it. Best it ever did was in a pot in the greenhouse but my space there is precious and I save that for tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and melons
Due to some new found information, I will NOT be promoting Mountain Rose Herbs any longer. For what I cannot grow, I will be sticking to Starwest and Frontier.
I was informed via email from a subscriber about it so did a little research and did not take long to find out about the abortion doula. Here is what Katie from Wellness Mama said in response to the marketing director when they were expressing their sadness as seeing her no longer promote them: "Thanks Raychel for the thoughtful comment. I do appreciate the sourcing practices you follow and your commitment to quality. Unfortunately, a large reason that I’ve decided not to recommend MRH any longer is more important to me so I’m now using and recommending other high quality sources. Specifically, I disagree with the ethical decision MRH made recently in awarding a grant to a self professed “abortion doula” and refusing to reconsider when customers and readers brought up their concerns. We are all, of course, entitled to our own opinions on these issues and my point is not to change yours, but only to stand for my own. I also feel like in today’s tumultuous political climate, you would have responded differently if the person in question was a racist, accused sex offender, or a supporter of a controversial politician. Your company made a decision that you have to be comfortable with the outcome of, and in kind, I also have to choose to recommend companies that I can ethically support."
If lucky buying used books I found thst previous owner has highlight a few in her book some times makes finding a proven recipe which I only make when I know it’s been used lol my grand mothers book I gone though has been awesome finds most i remembered from my days staying with her
My goats ate all my rosemary ..... I believe it's probably good for worms because they seemed to like a daily dose every day.. they did the same when they could with my lemon balm.
Since I live in SE Alaska, (a few hundred miles north of you :) ) I also have a lot of red elder growing (Sambucus Racemosa). The berries are edible both raw and cooked but if they're eaten raw they can cause diarrhea. I make a syrup of the berries and strain the seeds out (the seeds are supposed to cause severe digestive issues as they contain an alkaloid) and add it to my blue and black elderberry syrup. It is excellent for viral and bacterial illnesses as well as kidney issues. It also contains more vitamin C than the other elder species.
That would be borage leaves, all parts of the borage tastes like cucumber but not the comfrey, it has a totally different flavor and one has to be careful how much they ingest
Thank you for this. I took a lot of notes and will be ordering more seeds and plants. I did order borage, marshmallow and echinacea seeds from you already and they are sprouting.
What a great video :) Thank you for sharing your information. I appreciate the effort it takes :) I think our gardens would have a great cup of tea together, they are so similar! I can testify to Comfrey healing my 'abdominal separation' [basically like a tummy hernia, from caring a bambino 24 years ago who put her foot through the muscle wall [that was weird] - and then too much building / heavy lifting] - BUT - a very simple balm made with home grown and dried Comfrey in raw Coconut oil is healing the muscle wall very nicely - and will be keeping me off an operating table!! Hari Bol! Praise Be! And my other big ones are Calendula, Thyme, Sage, and Tulsi too - especially made into strong tea and used as a mouth wash - it will heal gum and membrane issues, and has kept me away from the Periodontist ... or just drink as a hot tea for colds and flu type bugs... And it has healed my friends eczema - he hates 'hippy stuff' but was willing to try anything to stop the eczema from driving him crazy - now he tells everyone about it!! :) ... Just dried, and steeped in Coconut oil, then strained and ready for use - nothing fancy here :) Or putting the dried flowers into a 'bath bag' and bathing in Calendula cleans the skin right up from such ailments - great for babies / infants who have eczema and / or dry skin - simply put Calendula flowers in the bath too ! Easy peesy with such amazing results :) Gosh I love plants! So if using herbs can keep me away from such things like surgeons knives and dentist bills - the happier I can be :) All these wonderful plants where created for a reason - we are blessed to have the ability to have our own pharmacies in our yards - or even a pot of basil on the window - I think we are blessed to have such amazing plants around us - and the handed down knowledge of how to use them - I could rant forever :) To return the info favor and thank you :) - one of my fave herb books is called 'The Yoga of Herbs' ... is is written by a Western Herbalist and an Auravedic Doctor - the combination of the two perspectives is awesome, but not really for beginners - so much info - and very handy quick reference tables too. Thanks again for your work! Hari Bol, God Bless and Praise Be :) ~ e

Cool! A borage popped up unexpectedly near my greenhouse! Thanks for the info, I learn something new everytime I watch you!
I’ve used both nasturtium and oregano tinctures for UTI problems. They both fix it. Oregano seems to work faster but I prefer the taste of the nasturtium.
Good information
Another great video! Going to enlarge my herbs. This is so fun! Many blessings.
Thank u
i think you're awesome. I am making a new medicinal tea garden and I am growing all of the herbs you suggested this year and I'm so excited. Thanks.
Nice! :D
Rain Country - I am so thrilled to hear that! When I saw it I knew it had your name on it! LOL! Love, Mary❤️😘❤️
Thank you verrryyy much dear Heidi...very true to know and recognize the herbs...not easy but feasible.....
Great info.
Thank you!
Yes to plantain 👍👍👍. I did the same with a hornet; felt something on the back of my arm, brushed it off without looking, but instead got stung between my fingers. Used plantain which helped a lot.
Thanks for the info indeed God gave us plants herbs to heal us
love your videos and yes natural is best and nature takes care of its own i;m just learning how to use herbs but cant wait to be able to heal myself
I am growing mint in the Sonoran Desert, in Tucson, AZ.
We planted elderberry so hopeful.
Awesome. Best wishes to you and yours from The UK.
Thanks for the valuable information Heidi.
Good video..Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
Great video and topic. Thank you so much. Your channel is one of my "go to" trusted information. thank you and God Bless.
Excellent Excellent video Heidi. !!!
Thank you!
I have been stung, chewed up a plantain leaf, and applied it. I had a bandana on hand and wrapped it around. It worked great! Also to anyone nervous about buying a used book without seeing it first I can say that I have several from Amazon that are in perfectly fine condition.
All the used books I have bought from Amazon have been near perfect condition.
Thank you.
Go, Heidi ! Keep 'em comin' !
Thanks Margie!
I've had Lavender and raspberry ice cream, yum. Blessings folks.
I love your channel....thank your for sharing your knowledge and opinions 🥰
Thank you very good information
This is so informative! Thank you so much! I’ll be watching more of your videos for sure!
Michael Moore's books are the BEST books I have ever read. LOTS of research and much proven out in labs.
That is so sweet, thank you!!!
Great video, enjoyed it thanks!
Thank you!! My peppermint is just barely started to germinate. 💜
Love your videos. Thanks for wonderful information. This weekend in my area we are having the Master Gardeners plant sale. I’m going to look for some information on these herbs. Thanks again.
Great information. Thankyou. Have you thought about doing a video on plants to grow to dehydrate for hens...

Thank you for such an informative video! Love all of your content! You should consider writing your own books!! Have a blessed day!
Due to some new found information, I will NOT be promoting Mountain Rose Herbs any longer. For what I cannot grow, I will be sticking to Starwest and Frontier.
tamethespirit has some hard to find herbs, with a decent price
@@mpedals I had to remove the link as I learned some disturbing information and will no longer support that company
@@RainCountryHomestead please share, mpedals@gmail.com,,,,,,
Could you give us a link or explain to what problems they are having?
I was informed via email from a subscriber about it so did a little research and did not take long to find out about the abortion doula. Here is what Katie from Wellness Mama said in response to the marketing director when they were expressing their sadness as seeing her no longer promote them:
"Thanks Raychel for the thoughtful comment.
Now I'm convinced I need an herbal garden. Love the way you explain its uses.
Blessings ❤️
If lucky buying used books I found thst previous owner has highlight a few in her book some times makes finding a proven recipe which I only make when I know it’s been used lol my grand mothers book I gone though has been awesome finds most i remembered from my days staying with her
Holding both my thumbs up Heidi!
Thank you Christie!
My goats ate all my rosemary ..... I believe it's probably good for worms because they seemed to like a daily dose every day.. they did the same when they could with my lemon balm.
I am sure it is all good for them, hope they left at least a little for you! :D
Have just started borage for the first time, its funny you say it tastes like cucumber, the seedlings look similar to cucumber also
Confrey leaves are used in salads...tastes like cucumber 😀
That would be borage leaves, all parts of the borage tastes like cucumber but not the comfrey, it has a totally different flavor and one has to be careful how much they ingest
Thank you!!
Thank you for this. I took a lot of notes and will be ordering more seeds and plants. I did order borage, marshmallow and echinacea seeds from you already and they are sprouting.
That is great! I am always pleased to hear that my seeds are doing well! :D
@@RainCountryHomestead Ooops. It was feverfew, marshmallow and borage. I got the echinacea somewhere else.
Oh my goodness! What a wonderful video. Thank you so much. `Sherrie in South Carolina
Thank You!! Thank You!
What a great video :) Thank you for sharing your information.
I appreciate the effort it takes :)
I think our gardens would have a great cup of tea together, they are so similar!
:) ... Just dried, and steeped in Coconut oil, then strained and ready for use - nothing fancy here :)
Or putting the dried flowers into a 'bath bag' and bathing in Calendula cleans the skin right up from such ailments - great for babies / infants who have eczema and / or dry skin - simply put Calendula flowers in the bath too ! Easy peesy with such amazing results :)
Gosh I love plants!
So if using herbs can keep me away from such things like surgeons knives and dentist bills - the happier I can be :)
All these wonderful plants where created for a reason - we are blessed to have the ability to have our own pharmacies in our yards - or even a pot of basil on the window - I think we are blessed to have such amazing plants around us - and the handed down knowledge of how to use them - I could rant forever :)
To return the info favor and thank you :) - one of my fave herb books is called 'The Yoga of Herbs' ... is is written by a Western Herbalist and an Auravedic Doctor - the combination of the two perspectives is awesome, but not really for beginners - so much info - and very handy quick reference tables too.
Thanks again for your work!
Hari Bol, God Bless and Praise Be :)

Thank you for sharing your own testimonials at how herbs have helped you in several ways! Great information!
Came over from Living Traditions FB page and I'm in love with your channel. New subscriber! ❤❤
Thank you! :D
have you considered offering a set of herb seeds..per video suggestion..herb seed selection from this video.
Interesting idea but I have some seeds I sell out of more quickly than others depending on the amount I can collect and save.
very helpful thank you!
An old beekeeper told me the absolute same thing. Always keep some on you when you're working your bees.
Keep some what on you?
Great advice!🤩
My 3 year old granddaughter and I ate nasturtium flowers right out of garden. She didn't have any side affects.
Excellent advice as always Heidi. Thanks so much ❤️
