I grew the Illumination, On The Top and AmeriHybrid series seeds from Swallowtail last year. They are definitely worth growing. Lovely in hanging baskets and containers. I don’t recall exactly how long they took to germinate but it was at the most 3 weeks. This year I am trying the “Big Begonia” variety that I got from the seed company Trailing Petunia which are similar to the Viking begonias. Good luck with growing your begonias!
When ordering seeds for this year I considered getting some begonias. I don’t have grow lights and in my head I thought they would be difficult. I’ll be watching for your updates on this! Last year I grew impatiens for my shady areas and they were great!! However, I’m always up for learning how to grow something else. Good luck!😁🌸
Thank you Susie. This video has gotten me in the mood to start some seeds ! I don’t think that it too early to start perennials they usually take awhile to get started and grow. 🥶❄️💚🙃
I am also in zone 4 and trying begonia this year trying dragon Wing and Santa Barbara started first part of February using the same method except didn't use my heat mat I think that was a mistake but was above 74F had two plants germinate out of 36 seeds .I just came across your channel.
I had my begonia seeds on a heat mat and had 3 germinate out of 72. I may try again next year, but I am giving up on the begonia seeds this year. Thanks for watching and good luck with your begonia seeds.
My begonias from seed did well last year!! Good luck on yours! Curious, what brand of potting soil do you use? I have had some stinkers and would like a tried and true brand!!! Happy seeding!
I use Pro Mix. It is the only potting soil I can find locally that doesn't contain fertilizer and is reasonable in cost. Good to know you had good luck with your begonia seeds. Thanks for watching
I got them from greenhousemegastore.com. They are called Grower Select Plug Flats. It's the 72 square cell, 10 flats for $10.50 and it fits the Germination Tray with no holes. 10 trays for $31.50. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
Thank you Susie. 🥶❄️💚🙃
So glad you’re back. I’m close to starting some of my seeds. Love this time of year 😊❤️
I can't wait until I can start more seeds. April is going to be super busy for seed starting. Thanks for watching

I am hoping for 10 begonias. Then I won't feel too bad about the cost of the seeds, but it is fun to try something new. Thanks for watching.

Hi Susie!! I started dragon wing begonias from seed. They took about 12 days to germinate. Is it spring yet?? lol Thanks for the video.
I keep checking my begonias and so far nothing, but it has only been 1 week. I can't wait until it is daylight savings. Thanks for watching
Great idea with labeling. Where did you purchase your seed starting trays? Thank you
