    This is year #2 for us growing begonias. I like to put my seeds in a little sand. It helps me spread them evenly in the tray and keeps them from falling down in the soil. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

      Hi Jeff. You're very welcome. Did you grow wax or tuberous begonias? Were they seeds you bought or collected? Just curious. I can't wait to start my begonia seeds. Thank you for sharing the tip about mixing sand with the seeds for a more even distribution. I've heard of people using this method for other small seeds, like those of poppies. I should give it a try. 😊🌸

      @budgetgardeningvita we have three varieties of wax. We collect our seeds when possible. We've been doing our petunias for a while. Last year we ventured off into begonias, marigolds, lavendar and snap dragons. We also have 10 rose of Sharon that we potted from cuttings.

    I absolutely LOVE your channel. I’m a serious plant person also and am trying tuberous begonias from seed this year for the first time, your information is by far the best.

      Awww. Thanks so much, Victoria! I truly appreciate your comment. I was so happy to get good germination on my tuberous begonia seeds and was thrilled to see that they formed tubers for me (which I'm overwintering now). I'd love to hear how you make out with your tuberous begonia seedlings. Good luck, friend! 💞😊

    This is my first year collecting wax begonia seeds after watching your video. I can't wait to sow them during the cold winter months in my zone 5b location.

      How exciting that you collected some begonia seeds! They are tiny, aren't they? 😅 I'm looking forward to us growing our begonias at the same time this winter. 🌸

      Hi Tom. Thanks so much! I usually take cuttings from my coleus and impatiens. This year, I'll definitely take cuttings from my begonias as well. 😊🌸

    Yes i started from seed the "Bada Bing Bada Boom" they are the slowest growing plant! Patience is key with them. Great video loved seeing the size comparisons.

      I had never heard of that series so I had to look them up. Where did you buy your seeds from? They look like they'd be fun to start. You are right in that they are the slowest growing plant and patience is definitely key. 🌺♥

    I loved this and have subscribed 💜 A few years ago I was at a friend's house that had a gorgeous angel fall tuberous begonia and I took some seed pods. Ive never seen such dust like seed and Im not the best gardener but liked the challenge I grew loads but only 2 made it to full size. I thought one was dead so I put it in the compost heap last year to my surprise it came back to life this year and I now have a fabulous plant I'm about to harvest more seed from 😂 Just a note I'm in Ireland and our weather is awful most of the time. My advice just have a go you never know untill you try 💜

    Thank you so much for the video! I'm doing begonias from seed for the first time this year. It was so helpful for me to see what yours look like. I started all of mine in miracle grow seed starting mix because it was the only thing i could easily get at the time. However, the tuberous begonias had a really weird, curly leafed growth pattern until i potted them up into a regular, organic potting mix. Then, they started producing normal leaves. I was trying to determine what caused the weird growth pattern. What fertilizer do you use on your seedlings and how often?

    • @budgetgardeningvita
      @budgetgardeningvita  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hi there! How exciting that you are growing tuberous begonias from seed also! That's very strange that your plants originally had a weird leaf growth pattern. I'm glad that they corrected themselves. I use Miracle Gro fertilizer and I use it every time I water my plants, which for the larger plants tends to be once a week. I use a diluted half strength amount. 😊
