Great, instructive videos - weird that someone would come in and press "dislike", but that's what makes the world so fascinating, I suppose. This series was a great help for me getting to know my UX 180. Quite a bit to learn in order to get the best out of it, but when you do - a great piece of kit.
I use Barry's book on the ag-ac 160 as my bible and it was a total pleasant surprise to realize that it's the famous 'ShootingTheBull410' maestro who is Barry !! Awesome videos on both fronts, thank you Barry!
We have had the Panasonic AG - UX180 for approximately 10 weeks. During this time we have struggled to match the output quality with our three PTZ cameras. The Panasonic quality output has a very low contract appearance, almost like it had a plastic protector on the lens, which it does not. Any ideas? I have watched your videos now several times and never see anything like this addressed? Thank you for your help.
I'm late to the party but needed a production camera. Something that can record in IR and also do quality 4k daylight video. My choice was Sony, Canon, and this camera. I chose this one. But holy hell, that viewfinder auto switch is craziness. One thing I hate about it the most. Glad to see there's at least a switch for it.
The LCD is my greatest gripe about these cameras also. The auto switch and the poor quality, poor color, reflective surface is very annoying. However, there are many things I like. The camera would have been great had they just spent a little more on it, which would have cost the consumer more but have been worth it
The AG-UX90 is my first camcorder, upgraded from a DSLR. Noticed in the manual that still photographs are possible, but can't find how? Any tips on taking still photos as well?
I have the Panasonic UX180, and I am quite new to filming. How can I add an external monitor, and be able to see on the (external) monitor before pressing "record". I have an external Monitor plugged into the HDMI port in the back of the UX180. I only see video when I press "record". Also, the monitor has sound, which I have to turn all the way down because of the feedback. I have serious trouble seeing the tiny LCD Display. I appreciate any help! Thank you!
Did you find the viewfinder on the AG-UX180 large enough to use easily? My Sony FDR-AX53 consumer camera has an EVF, but it is so small that I find it unusable. I'm looking for a camera to replace it, but there aren't any camera stores around here anymore for me to look in person.
I bought a "hood" for the LCD screen and it makes little to no difference. Part of the problem is how small the screen is but also there's some kind of reflective surface on the screen that is awful. It's one of the worst features of this camcorder and is usually noted in reviews. Save your money when it comes to a hood for the LCD. I mostly record outdoors where the LCD is basically useless in any light - cloudy or clear. Using the EVF outdoors is your only option, short of setting up a bigger monitor on top of the camera which is still going to need a hood outdoors.
Is there a way like in Sony cameras to under expose in auto mode (AE SHIFT), means just to say the UX180 to expose maybe 0.5 stops too low in auto mode? Because I figured out the the ux180 tends to slightly over expose when set to full auto mode. Thanks, Karsten
Panasonic Site says the Video signal for External output for this camera is 8 bit 4:2:2, I would like to know if this outputs UHD 4K 8 bit 4:2:2 in 60P. I would like to use an Atomos External Recorder like the Ninja Inferno. Thanks in advance!
Hi Barry. Great videos. Just received my UX180 today and can't figure out why there is a bit of lag in the audio and video when I'm shooting. Hoping it's just a setting issue. I noticed it when I plugged my stick Mic. in and was setting up my shot-gun Mic. It's no less than a quarter of a second lag from when I speak until I hear it in my earphones - but it's still annoying and I've never had a camera do that to me. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.
Eagle Image Drone Services LLC I just got a UX90 and have the same issue. I’m afraid to even use the xlr inputs for anything important because of the lag. I don’t hear any lag in my Zoom H6, but if I connect my Zoom via xlr to the UX90, the lag is incredibly notable and not worth recording with.
Is there a way to bypass the viewfinder and use a TV monitor instead? We have some older operators at our church and I would like to give them a nice big monitor. I have hooked it to hdmi to hdmi and no signal shows on the input. Is there a setting somewhere on the camera I need to change?
Very good sar i am Avtar kasouli..in india Punjab Chandigarh..mohali..
