One of the most valuable triggers in DCS. Create a giant trigger zone over your territory... have a few jets on the ramp (or Carrier) ready to intercept... setup the trigger if part of the Red coalition enters the trigger zone, then your jets start and go to an intercept or Cap. .. or just reverse this scenario.
To add a sense of realism, I will have a few squadrons of AI take off, fly a route around the base/ship, then land/rearm/refuel then take off again. Add a command GO TO WAYPOINT and it will repeat the process the entire mission. You can use helicopters and even ground vehicles. Set up a perimeter security patrol, even have helo's moving cargo from one place to another. That is the one thing that is missing from DCS. Very rarely will you have an airport with no activity. So when you pull up to the runway, you MUST check for traffic! Throw in some static objects like tractors, flags, and ground vehicles and you have a very believable mission.
I've always thought the same, spawning at an empty airfield with nothing going on doesn't add to realism. I always have helicopters conducting a patrol and just continuous so when you come back they should still be there. Same with ships as well, rare to see no ships in any body of water!
I just started mission creating and was trying to figure this out . What I want to do is have the jet on the ground take off and intercept if the player gets to close to the airbase. What would I need to do for the flight plan for the plane on the ground? Thank you!
One problem I'm running into with creating my campaign; AI unable to Start upon Trigger regarding player's altitude being a certain height. Does starting AI jets always have to regard the player or otherwise being *in* a trigger zones, and not physical conditions?
No, only if your 'IF' condition is set to a user attribute such as height. I usually set mine to a 'time is more' condition and then use the 'AI Task Push'
Hmm, do you have an ROE setting? Also what type of bombing mode has you set? I.e. bombing, bomb map object etc? Have you tried specifying a specific weapon under those setting also?
Are you sure you are checking the "triggered option tab" and not the "waypoint tasks" tab ? I was struggling to find it as well at the beginning then I realised I was looking at the wrong tab
