Crochet Sun Hat Free Pattern. In this tutorial, I will teach you how to make this stylish crochet summer hat. I'm using Red Heart yarn for this crochet tutorial but you can use cotton yarn because it breathes better in the heat. In this sun hat crochet pattern we will be using Double crochet & Single crochet stitches
    Material
    Red Heart yarn #worsted weight
    5mm & 5.5mm hook
    written pattern www.etsy.com/L...
Picture provided by Crocheting by Carol Ann's daughter (Laurie Whitaker) she was kind enough to be a pattern tester. you can find more of her work on crochetingbycarolannsdaughter

Hello. Thanks again for another beautiful hat. I just wanted to share some information on how to customize a hat for any size. Take the circumference of the head/pi (3.14)= the needed diameter. For ex: 22"size head ÷ 3.14 = 7.006 This means you should continue to increase the crown of the hat until the diameter measures 7 inches (do not worry about the numbers after the decimal; use the whole number only.) Hope this helps anyone.

Thank you so much for the awesome tip. This will help many people. Since i used a mesh-sh type of stitch on the cap of this hat recommend you subtract 0.5 inch. The mesh stitch gives a lot of stretch

So for the diameter of my head is 20 inch, so I will make the crown to measure 6/12 inches. Do I still only add an extra 7 stitches? To my measurement

@@LittlejohnsYarn True. I hear ya'll. I'd say the clusters were tricky but once I went back to re-do them again. Then I understood. I juss gotta be aware of how many Single Clusters I was doing. I messed up and added like three Single-Clusters and I was wondering why I wasn't getting 24 counts. But i got the hang of it. Hopefully I'll try to Snap some pics after I make my first one soon

what an inspiration on a raining morning here in Canada to open my e-mail and see this beautiful hat. Love the open concept in the crown and will be getting some cotton yarn to make. The tutorial is so easy to follow.I am going to experiment with small plastic tubing (instead of wire) for the brim as it is transparent and won't show through and use a dowel to join the ends and either glue it or use heat to join together.Thank you so much for another awesome tutorial.
