I just want to thank you so much for the beginning circle you made. I have always had trouble with the magic circle, but yours was very easy to follow and closes up beautifully! Thank you again, Jayda! I love your tutorials! You make me smile!❤️
I'm feeling a bit frustrated as I' m having to rest my arm---too much crochet! But I am determined to make this lovely hat, even if I have to wait for next summer. I became hooked on crochet a couple of years ago after following your tutorials, and I love it . You once said about counting the stitches that we would soon be counting in our sleep. Well, I count all the time--the number of times I whisk the eggs, the number of moves I make when grating cheese!! Yes, it sounds crazy, but I can also count my crochet and carry on a conversation at the same time, I'm not always conscious I'm doing it. Thank you from bringing this absorbing craft into my life . You're great. Barbara, U.K aged 90.
Hi Jayda. I just love watching you. You are such an inspiration to crochet and helping us to achieve some things we think we couldn't do.. So Thank You so much.
Hi Betty! The first thing I ever crocheted was a hat...it wasn't much to look at, but I wore it!! This is just proof that with a little practice we can make anything :)
I don't even watch your while video in the start jus a few mins to see how it's started and what I'll need to work me up for when I'll start. I alreadybknow otsbgoing to be a super duper awesome tutorial so i already liked it! When I'm ready to do the project I'll watch video and crochet with you or wrote it down then crochet. Thank you! Loving the simplicity of this beautiful sun hat been wanting to do one jus like this but all I could find was for granny st and toddlers not adjustable for adults. God bless you!

I am so excited about making this hat. Thanks again for another great tutorial and I will send you a pic of my finished hat. Thanks Jayda and happy weekend 👒
awesome project! can't wait to get started using up my stash for this hat. i've been using up my cotton stash on dish cloths, so this will be a nice change! looking forward to the next crochet party!
Hi Kelly! We're looking forward to it too :) I've been powering through my cotton yarn stash this year, I'm rather proud of that * giggle * - just a bit more to go and I'll have an empty bin!
Absolutely LOVE the hat Jayda!!! I'm making it today!! Red,White,Blue hat!! I already made the shirt, & skirt!! for my mannequin for the 4th.!!! Thank you.. HUGS....
I always look forward to Friday mornings to see what wonderful project you have shared. I just finished the top you made a few weeks ago, and am looking forward to making this hat to match! Thank you, Jayda! You are so inspiring!
I just got a case of crochet hooks with stitch markers and other knick knacks included as a gift from an old highschool teacher of mine. I hope that's enough excuse to get more yarn, I don't have enough cotton for this XD It's been very sunny over here, so I will probably make a wider brim. The heat's been killer, my living room was 98°F (36°C) yesterday even with all the windows open, so being able to enjoy walking outside without worrying about a sunburn would be nice.
Oh how cute. Glad for the headsize chart. I’ve made my 4 month grandson some baseball hats n now I’ll make him a couple of these with matching bandana bib. Thanks Jayda‼️‼️
Looking for a sun hat, can’t seem to find one that I like. This sun hat is what I need, looks like a challenging project, hopefully I can finish before the end of summer lol! Thank you for another great tutorial! 😻😎
Hi Sandy! It's not tricky :) Just around and around and around :) I definitely recommend you use the stitch markers if you need help keeping track of rows - then you're off to the races! Have a great day :)
Thank you Jayda I have completed my hat in yellow and two rows of green on the edge of the brim then backward sc all the way around This was fun learning something new Thank you for sharing
I made the hat, it's just a bit loose, but it is so cute. I would love the pattern for that lace band you have around it. I've searched for something similar, but nothing is as cute as the one you have on that hat! Thank you for your wonderful work and tutorials! :D
Hi Katherine, Thank you for watching! The lace band is some old lace I had lying around in my fabric stash :) But than you for the tutorial suggestion!
Love this hat, so cute! I am making now, and as I get to the place to start the brim, I notice it seems to be too loose on me. How can I fix this? I did my head measurements as you showed us. Thank you for any help you can give on this!
Thank you Jayda for sharing this lovely and simple sun hat with us. Can you please make a tutorial on the hat band you have around your sun hat as well? It is so beautiful.
Hi! Thank you for watching :) The hat band is just some ribbon I had lying around, ribbon, ties, scarves...all sorts of things make a really cute hat band on this hat!
you prolly dont care but does any of you know a way to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost my login password. I love any help you can give me!
@Nikolas Jeffery i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Wow, sooooooo beautiful both u and the hat, perfect fit to I am surely going to make it.thank u for making crocheting so simple, easy and loveable.☺☺☺☺☺
Working it now yarn bee hint of silk Oriental Teal! But can you post a close up of your lace ribbon...I’m gonna try to crochet a similar pattern🤗. Thank you soooo much for a great weekend project! 💜
can you also use raffia on this pattern, if so what size hook would you use ? Your so positive. I love this video. Going to try this as I have Alopecia Universal so I hope I can manage to make it. Thank you
Hi Sand, yes! Depending on the size of the raffia, you might want to use either a 4.50 mm hook all the way up to a 5.50 mm hook. It's a good idea to crochet a little sample first to see if you like the stitch size :)
Hi Jayda!! I cannot wait to make this for my daughter (: thank you for the pattern and your wonderful teaching ! And by the way the green background is PERFECT I absolutely love it! I feel like it makes your work pop out(: Have a Bless day ! 💜
Jada thank you so much , I've been looking for a sunhat to crochet for a couple of months now . I've made two hats before now that seemed promising but in the end they not for me . I wanted just a simple sunhat , and you've done that for me . I completed this hat last night and I'm so happy with it . Your always the one I can count on when I just cant find the right tutorial anywhere else ……………….Thank you so much , you rock !!!! :)
That is so cool Jayda. Off to motocross most weekends at the moment to watch my 4 year old grandson so I just might make this. Looks great on you Jayda. Thank you againnnnn, from Aussie Lynne. Great video Jaydas’ hubbie 😊🤗👌
Hi Lynne! We both thank you very much :) oooh, now that's a GREAT excuse to have a sun hat! It can be pretty blazing out there by the track all day! Have fun :)
Hi Jada, just found your video an I absolutely loved your jolly ways of explaining. I want to start crotcheting, love this for my stepmom. Wanted to ask a favor of u,would u mind showing me d way u hold ur needle to crotchet,or maybe do a video on that;would really like that, thanks ⭐️❤️
Hi Esmi, welcome to our channel! There are two ways people typically hold a crochet hook, one is the "knife" grip (as though you were holding your knife for eating) and the other is the "pencil" grip (as you would hold your pencil for writing). I use the knife grip, but I highly recommend if you're just starting out that you experiment by holding your hook in different ways to see what feels best for you :)
Thanks for replying. Another question, how to hold your yarn on d other hand ,i tried it 1way,dont know d correct way,an i got cramps d night. Maybe u can do a short video on dat for us beginners 😁Tanx again ⭐️
Jayda InStitches yesssss! I have some orders for dolls. I'm taking a break to finish a 2nd girl purse. After i finish another order I'll make one 😍 jejeje thanks Jayda really enjoy everything u show us.
Hi! Thank you for watching! 🌞 My mother in law found that for me! I think she got it at Fabricland, but I've heard some folks say they've found them on Amazon too.
Hi Lisa, yes! You would want to make the crown around 5 inches in diameter, then crochet straight to build the rest of the hat. Adding the brim you can use the same "formula" we use in the video :)
I am currently working this. I am using a yarn called Creme de la Creme by Coats and Clark. Its a nice bright green. I have a question though. What can you suggest so that the brim is stiff at the edge. Not a fan of the floppy look. Would some sort of wire work? I look forward to your imput. Thank you, Barbara
Hi Barbara, if you find your brim is too bulky, then you can certainly add some wire to the edge. You might want to crochet over top of it though, so that it's not pointy or sticking out anywhere :)
Oh my! That is not hot, summery weather at all! We've hat quite a heat spell, so this hat has come in handy the last couple of days :) I hope it warms up for you!
Thank you so much for this video! I noticed for the brim, you did some rows of increases and some just straight sc. Other videos I’ve seen do all increase rows. Do you know what the difference in results are for the different techniques? Thank you for your help!
Hi Mia, a lot might depend on the beginning of the pattern, the number of increases per row, the hook and yarn used and the tightness of the crochet stitches... in other words a lot! The main goal is to create a flat, ever expanding brim, however you get there!
I just want to thank you so much for the beginning circle you made. I have always had trouble with the magic circle, but yours was very easy to follow and closes up beautifully! Thank you again, Jayda! I love your tutorials! You make me smile!❤️
Thank you so much! 🌞

How can I fix this? I did my head measurements as you showed us. Thank you for any help you can give on this!
Hi Kathy, if it feels a little loose, I recommend washing it, it should tighten it back up :)

Thanks for this lovely video, can it be made for a one year old
Hi Lisa, yes! You would want to make the crown around 5 inches in diameter, then crochet straight to build the rest of the hat. Adding the brim you can use the same "formula" we use in the video :)
