This year on 29 March, we were there. Enchantment was the only ship there and we were at 65% capacity. Only1000 on Island, very few in water park. We did slides several times, and only one buffet as open. Beaches nearly empty! I always check the port schedule and would never go with a large crowd. Day before we were there, staff said two megaships and a 90 minute wait for slides.
Wow that coco cay was packed!!! I wish we would ave wandered over to the pool when we went - we never even seen but sure had a great time with everyone!! There's aways a next time. Too bad about Chops, we had an amazing ribeye steak there on Harmony. And there's that happy dance hee hee!!
First time Coco was in 1999. Unspoiled. Loved it! After that 4 times back, but this isn't for us anymore these days unfortunally. We try to avoid the perfect day. Altought everything is top notch, but way too much ppl when two ships are in. Anyway thanks for the vid again. All the best from the Netherlands 🙂
Alisa Order the Ceasar salad tossed with half the dressing and no croutons then squeeze fresh lemon on the salad, it will help fill you up with a fraction of the calories.
The lagoon pool was like that back in 2019 when we were there BEFORE Covid and it was a madhouse, so the next time we booked the Beach Club day pass...sooo much better and more relaxed. But now those passes $58.99 pp back then, are so high we can't afford them anymore at $169 pp! So we'll just do what you did probably.
Love the video! We’ll be there in January. Unfortunately we’ll be on Liberty and we’ll be parked next to Oasis. So going to be extremely busy but hey it’s vacation and cruising!!!
Loving to watch y’all’s videos.. y’all are informative. One thing y’all haven’t mentioned is how do you secure your important stuff like credit cards and money? I see y’all hold your phones… that’s what I would do, but how do you secure everything while you enter the water? I didn’t see lockers… just curious how to protect my belongings whiled in water? Lol! We were on the Harmony 7/31-8/7. Last day was CocoCay. Our ship and Freedom. 10,000 guests on the private island PLUS staff. Our perfect day at CocoCay was going back to the ship!!!!! 😳
I disagree...we were on that same sailing on Harmony and we had a BLAST on the island. Never felt busy, never waited more than 5 minutes for food or drinks! We were disappointed that it was windy and our jetski excursion got canceled (more money to spend in casino lol!) but other than that we had so much fun! Spent most of time at Chill Island and then SouthBeach at the floating tiki bar!
I was on the Norwegian private island next to Coco Cay this April and the food was the PITS. Cold hot dogs, bland beans and slaw, cold hamburgers, cardboard textured pizza… I missed the taco trucks. Oh and mushy corn on the cob. The watermelon was good. The snorkeling was excellent though,
I'd say I don't trust corn at most restaurants so I'd doubt it would be much better on a cruise ship. I grew up with fresh sweet, queen corn and we still pick up a few bushels yearly. I don't touch the straight yellow corn. The burgers and wings were perfect. Just have to leave out the rice! Shoots my blood sugar through the roof. One of the cruise lines needs to add a Cajun/Creole restaurant. I have family from right outside of NOLA and my cousin opened a restaurant in my area serving blackened steak/chops/red fish, jambalaya, gator sausage, etc. Huge hit. Although those cast irons cause a lot of smoke. I so want to do a May or September cruise with Coco Cay. And hopefully RC gets back to the 2 days at Coco Cay cruises in the near future. My 8 year old niece would love it.
Great video, Alisa I feel you're pain on the steak. I find it's hit or miss every time I order a steak at a restaurant. The only sure bet is grill your own and you have a grill master at your disposal! Safe travels!!
Norwegian cruise last June going out of Amsterdam. The ship was so empty with such a different vibe. Quiet no one around really. Nice but I do like the lively cruise too.
Hi Guys…great vid yet again. I just booked the World Cruise with Princess. Departing Los Angeles on Jan 19/2023. STOKED. Seasoned cruiser….love your vids….can’t wait!!
I feel bad that you didn't enjoy your filet! I had the best filet of my life at Chops on Mariner OTS! I have to agree about the crabcake though. Being from southeast PA, I have never found a better crabcake than in Ocean City, MD. If you guys ever get the RV up there, make sure you check out The Original Crabcake Factory up near 120th St!
I was told Coco Cay has a capacity of around 10k so they definitely could have an Oasis Class and a Freedom Class ship there at the same time!! That would be crazy busy!!
Oasis class will dock with some smaller class at least. We were there in April on the Harmony and were docked with a smaller ship. I believe it was Independence(excuse my fibro fog). I really think it was though because Independence is one of my favorite smaller class ships. Anyhow, it was CROWDED. 90% capacity. I so miss the 45-55% sailings...heck, even the 65% sailings. We definitely won't be sailing anymore while school isn't in session....my kiddo with ASD couldn't handle the chaos. =( Coco Cay is our FAVORITE port! =)
The water looked wonderful!! The crab cake - not so good. I’m from Maryland and a good crab cake doesn’t have “stuffing”. The only stuffing should be lump crab meat.
My problem on cruises is I tend to order like Lisa. I’m getting the crab cake, the salad, the entree, gonna eat a little bread. I can say no to dessert, but instead I’ll get a latte.. by the end I’m stuffed and ate more than I would have at home.
We were at Coco Cay in July on Mariner & Allure was there the same day, it was WAY too peoply!!! We did not enjoy our day there because it was just too crowded...
most of the people that are on the island are cruisers who never get an opportunity to cruise so thats why its so busy floridian gets to the pool all the time
We’re on the Symphony for our 15th anniversary in Oct and will be at cococay with another ship. I wasn’t happy when I realized this so I decided to get a chill island beach bed that way looking for chairs/umbrella isn’t an issue.
I was there on Symphony in June and we were at 100% capacity on our ship and there was a second ship there that day as well. We got off when they first let people off the ship and there were tons of open chairs with umbrellas around the pool (don't wait too long to get off the ship if you don't want to pay for a reserved spot). There were a lot of people there but I thought it was a fun environment. Jet skiing was really fun, food was good and we didn't have any problem getting seats to eat lunch, all in all a great day. We were some of the first off the ship and some of the last back on. The only place that was crazy busy was the swim up bar in the pool, but pro tip just get out of the pool and walk around to the back side of that bar and you get service immediately.
Alyssa, glad to see you increasing your fat intake a bit! Don’t be afraid of some fat with your protein and veggies, it will help your hair grow in so much faster and healthier. Ditch the carbs up the fat and moderate protein. Berries are ok for dessert.
Sucks your steak was not good at Chops! I was there on Symphony in June and it was really good. Got a ribeye and was happy with the quality and flavor.
Wow, you guys always have the best times. Sorry Alyssa's steak wasn't the best, but that's why God created pizza. :) Can't wait for my first cruise next April to Cozumel (Carnival Celebration--Shaq's Big Chicken is waiting).
It wasn't very hot there day we went! It was September, so it should have been hot! It was so windy, many activities were canceled including snorkeling. Too cold to swim in the ocean side, so we did lagoon and pool. And we had a torrential storm. It was the last day of the trip and it sucked to take home all the wet stuff.
Have you guys tried the chicken sandwich on perfect day at CoCo cay? I know Matt from Royal Caribbean cruise blog talks about it all of the time when he goes to perfect day at Kokay or has people ask him where should I eat when I go there?
Have to watch out for the seagulls, when we were there a kid sat his plate down turned around to get a drink and seagulls were all over his plate in seconds
Any jelly fish where you swam. I am still recovering from my trip to the ocean and doctor said can take another month. How are you Alicia. Thinking of you. Take care. Cheers.!
Caesar dressing is NOT fattening, though most commercial dressings are made with corn/soy/vegetable oil which is terrible. The croutons and breads are also issues. Fat does not make you fat. Check out Dr Jason Fung's books 😀 I loved Chops, but cruising is already a luxury for us, we can't justify paying for a restaurant as well. Our agent used to give us a gift card for Chops back when it was $25/pp
lol yea too crazy for us, we just cancelled our Oasis cruise for Sept 4th, opting for a chill road trip instead. Gonna shoot for an Alaska cruise next year. You guys rock, thanks for the videos!

We ate in chops twice and did not like it. The filet was rubbery. Not tender. Please try Izumi hibachi. You will love it. It is not on all ships tho just the Oasis class ships I think Love your videos 👍🏻😀
Is there such a thing as too much cruising? You get spoiled with the food, then maybe you get critical. Not saying your critical, but maybe too much good food. I’ve only been on nine cruises and they were spread out.
Alisa, I would bet you good money that your filets were overcooked. Medium is too much for a good cut of steak. Medium rare is as far as I would go for that.
I feel your pain Alyssa, nothing worse than a lousy steak. I’ve learned over the years the the only point of a filet is the tenderness. It’s still a bland tasting steak. Rib eye, porterhouse, even a ny strip have more flavor.

I totally agree with the private islands being the very best part of the cruise. If we could stay there for a few days I would be a happy girl!
