I'm so glad youtube put this video in my recommended (whatever it's called lol). I have a 300 gallon stock tank pond, and I've got a common pleco in it. I'm in Florida, but it does freeze here sometimes. I have been really worried about how I'm going to keep it warm enough. If a heater and a tarp work, that will really ease my mind, and it's something I can do.
This has been one of the best videos I’ve found when it comes to heating an outdoor pond. I’m in NJ and I really wanna try to do an outdoor cichlid pond. It would be in the ground and insulated all around it. I’d be covering it in the cold months with a hard clear plastic cover so it acts like a green house. What would you say your cost to heat the pond is in the winter?
Great video! Wow that’s a crazy amount of heat just to keep it in a warm range especially being in a southern state! I live in the Midwest and it gets pretty cold here sone nights being in the negatives, I don’t have my pond outside but it’s in the garage which is unheated and I have 3 500 watt watt heaters in the filter so it’s always flowing warm water and it has been staying pretty warm though, it’s a 700 gallon round stock tank. I don’t have fish on it yet, it has been cycling for going on a month and a half I got to test the water soon and see if it’s ready yet hopefully it is, and I can get my pacus moved to it and eventually my iridescent shark if the pacus don’t mess with him if they do I’m gonna have to get a 300 for the shark lol! I’ve been thinking about getting a marble Acara cat but they are hard to find, I might have to get a LFS to order me one because I don’t like ordering fish online I’d rather see the fish and make sure it’s healthy and good to go before bringing it home rather than ordering, have had a bad experience with a website sending me a school of sick and unhealthy peacock bass, that all passed away within 2 weeks, it sucks because they were the butterflies like the big one you have, gonna have to just see if a lfs can order me a couple and pay for them and have the store feed them and quarantine and treat them like they do with most of their fish!
I also live in Alabama and i have 8 outside turtles in a 600 gallon pond. What do you use to heat yours? I never seen what you were using. Trying to make sure ill be able to heat my pond and keep my littles alive and well. Thanks
No but I do take out all the heaters out and the water temp sits right around 80, it being mostly out of the sun helps a lot when it comes to keeping the temperature down
@@PFFishing Awesome thanks for the Reply! Hey do you think keeping a Guppy Pond outside would be a possibility as well or would the weather get to extreme for them? Also how Big would the pond or tank need to be if it is a possibility?
Oscar was sus of the GoPro 😂
That underwater go pro feeding footage is awesome ! I really enjoyed that. Thanks dude!

I thought you might show the heaters? What style? In-line or just regular indoor aquarium type? I know you said 1200 watt but ?
Cancel that, I see the link in the description, thanks!
nice
My fish hate silversides 🤷🏼♂️
Hey what do you do during the Summer Months for them? Does it get to hot?
