You know the one I'm talking about, I can't be the only one! Basically, I absolutely hate wearing my hair down because my hair splits at the crown and I don't mean just slightly.. It looks like I have a full on bald spot! I've had hairdressers tell me that I have a "cowlick" in my crown area but I don't think it's ever been as bad as it is now (If anyone has any advice on how to get thicker hair LET ME KNOW!!!) Instead of wearing my hair in a ponytail or messy bun every.single.day. I decided to find a solution for this problem and you know what...I found it! It's super easy and all you need is a hair straightener, a comb and some hairspray.. thats it! such an annoying problem with such an easy fix. I hope you guys enjoy this video and don't forget to subscribe to my channel!
    Lets hang out!

aaw no, yeah it kinda looks like that for me too, it always splits back there maiing the hair look thinner, uneaven and messy. BUT now we can style it and rule the world mohahah! (if it is thinner tho, try to massage often, and add castor oil)

Claudia Hernandez I always notice mine when I’m at the hair salon because I can see the back of my head with their double mirrors. I’m always horrified at how crazy it looks. I have not been able to wear my hair parted like I used to because of this problem. I only part it an inch in the front and keep checking the back of my hair with a hand mirror throughout the day. I have to use hair gel after washing and Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine hair spray in the back of my hair plus a really fat curling iron. I will definitely try this method. Also problematic is thinning at the temples if I wear my hair back. I didn't realize so many of us have this problem. I used to have so much more hair. I also have been increasing my biotin supplement dose hoping that helps as well.

It's a whirl. Where your hair grows in a Swirl. Some people call it a cowlick. It is a real pain in the butt. I saw a video of a guy taking the ladies hair like you did, but he did a little back comb, sprayed it let it dry and then used a flat iron or curling iron on the teased hair. I tried it and it really helped to keep my hair from splitting. I am a lot older and have fought this my whole life. My husband says I have a bald spot! It's not a damn bald spot lol. Some of us are just born with strange hair growth in the back of our heads. Thanks for the video!

(Dry shampoo and shower cap showers) because having to brush/comb it when it’s wet trying to find that perfect, magical “fix” is just too depressing. I will literally not go out or just put my hair back up in a messy bun. I have hair loss and hair damage now at my crown because of always wearing it up so it makes it even worse.
Seeing this gives me hope. I’m gonna go wash my hair and try it out. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Even if it doesn’t work out for me (I’m hair styling challenged) - just knowing I’m not the only one helps.

I’ve been doing some reading up on this and I’m pretty sure it is called a double crown. The hair grows in two different patterns and causes the gaps. I discovered mine about a year ago and I have been so self conscious of it ever since. I’m constantly touching where the split is to make sure it’s covered. I never wear it down anymore but even when I tie it up it still splits!! I think it looks even worse when it splits tied up so now I’m out of options.
I thought it was something new that had started happening but I’ve since figured out that I always had it, just my hair was a lot thicker up until now so I never noticed. It is so thin these days it gets me down and I don’t know how to fix it.

I honestly thought that I was balding, too. I was pretty horrified. My hair is very thick from the neck down and it reaches to the back of my knees, but I didn't notice until a few months back that on the back of my head I have this cowlick or double crown that you mentioned. I ignored it, but decided not to anymore because I'm feeling self conscious. What I found is that you can "train" your hair growth pattern. The gist is that after drenching that area of your hair (ideally at night after showering), brush it/part it in the direction that you want it to be, clip it down and let it air-dry. After at least a week or two of doing this, your hair should get accustomed to growing in that new direction. I'm actually going to try this starting tomorrow night and I will document my results. Hopefully it will work.

Same exact issue here. I have thick, dark curly hair. My hair is also layered. Idk if I had this forever but just noticed it last week and I’ve been so depressed thinking of it and legit thought I was going bald. Was going to even set an appt with a dermatologist . But my mom and friends said they think it’s a cowlick because i don’t even lose hair! Glad I’m not the only one

    You are a godsend!
My husband just recently mentioned how my hairline always does the “squiggly crooked line” all the way to the back of my head. Since I never really look at the back of my head I had never noticed it, but dear lord it so noticeable! Looks exactly like yours, and since I part my har to the side it looks even worst! I’ve been going crazy trying to figure out how to fix it, and googling it I found your video.
    Thank you!!!!!

I’ve only just started to see a gap in my hair and a pink scalp showing through. I have very thick and wavy hair. My thoughts are it’s appeared because my layered hair has got longer so it hasn’t got the same lift it used to have and I’ve not coloured it during lockdown. I’m grey under my blonde. I’m wanting to keep my hair longer and try out my natural grey look too, which is why I You Tubed this problem. Glad to see it’s a common problem for people with thick hair and it’s not just because I’m going grey. Thanks for the video and tips.

When I was younger I did not have this..I'm at 40 and for years now my hair has changed and my 3a-c curls are coming out straight and flat at the roots🙈😔😛😂It makes me sad to the point of melancholy in the past!! What I do is I tease my hair (back comb) all around that back area and use the schwarzkopf got2b glued hairspray only on the roots💖😍💖 This works for me!!
Side note : I've been doing this for years and notice that in winter when its humid as hell were I live I need a cowash every four days because it gets sticky and matted fast..in summer I can go a week or so between washes, plus I'm diving in the ocean everyday so that clears out products also !! Take Care All 💕✨🌹🌈🌺💙💖💎💜🥂💄💚🌸⚡💫

Curling tip for you, have a large wide or full length mirror behind you at an angle so you can see the back of your head when you are curling the back, makes a huge difference for me anyway. Plus helps while you hide the cowlick. I have always worn my hair long and not that it is cut to an above the shoulder shag POP goes the cowlick... Super annoying so thanks for your trick. Appreciate it!

I'm 43 and it just started happening to me. I would use a ton of mini bobby pins to hold it in place but then the split would separate the hair on the right side of my head. Most people think I'm in my early 30s but the bald spot started to make me feel so bad I'd have panic attacks getting ready to go out. I know it sound superficial but I take care of myself (diet and exercise) and my hair made me feel inadequate. I also have very long hair that's actually thick and really curly except that one part. I can't wait to try this.

When I was 12, I still remember 18 years later when I first got paranoid about this same exact thing! A boy was standing behind me in the lunch line and said “hey everybody look! Katie is bald!” A few years later, I went to a hair salon and asked her if she had any solutions. She said “honey I’m a beautician, not a magician.” I was mortified! A couple years ago though I finally started doing the same thing you’re doing and I’m not self conscious about it anymore!

Hi thanks for your video. I have the split. To curl the back, use a round curling iron. Hold it vertically. Take each section, wind it around the iron tucking the ends into the curling iron. Release as you pull the iron away from your had. Pull the very back up and put it in the curling iron holding it horizontal. Small pieces get better curl. Some people spray their hair before curling it. I don't.

I have 3 of those on the back of my head (technical term is hair whorls, swirls or crowns). My grandma would call them remolinos (I probably spelled it wrong so don't judge me) and I usually fix it by spraying water on my hair and using a hair dryer to manipulate the pattern as I dry it again and that normally fixes it for me. Then I use hairspray to hold it in place.
