You have NO idea how long I have been searching for a fix for this back part. Mine happens naturally and I could never find anything that fixed it. I cannot wait to try this. I get so frustrated I end up putting my hair in a pony tail or bun because I am so self conscious of that stupid part! Thank you Kate!!

So update. Been doing this technique and its working AMAZINGLY, to the point where my part is actually starting to NATURALLY go away because it's training my hair not to split. 100% recommend.

I’m so glad to find this. I used to never have this problem but now it’s so severe the back of my head looks bald and I’ve had so much anxiety over it. I can comb it to cover the part but it just falls right back and you see a big white scalp part.

Cindy Slavik have you tried any shampoos or serums for hair regrowth? I have this exact problem and don’t know if something like that would help. But it looks like I have a bald spot on the back of my head where my part ends

Randomly just found this video - this 9 year old video - and now an insecurity I’ve had since high school is gone! What?? How did I never look up how to do this before? I’m 34 and I finally am learning how to style my hair properly 😂🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ seriously kicking myself for not looking this up sooner - but thank you for making this video and for keeping it up for 9 years!

      54. lol. I tried it didn’t work. My hair is super long tho. Ugh. It’s so disgusting looking. It looks like I have a big white scar I’ve tried to sleep with curlers there To to bed with wet hair and put only that part up in a ponytail in an attempt to retrain the swirly hair growth. Oh well. I’ll keep trying 🤷🏻‍♀️

This was a very helpful video, and based on now understanding the root problem of back parts and cowlicks in general, that the hair is leaning in the opposite direction we want it to, I experimented with training my hair to lean the way I want when I sleep. At night, I find the back part cowlick and put it into the split it is comfortable in. Then I take the right half and pull it left, and the left half and pull it right, and create two pig tails that literally tightly pull the hair in the direction I want it to go. The next morning I did not have a problem with the cowlick split or back part. I think if I keep doing this each night, it will be like braces or retainers on the teeth, it will keep it trained to fall right. I could "make it" go back into the split again, but it was much easier to get it to cooperate. To keep it in its new corrected position, I added some Aveda dry shampoo powder and really rubbed that in and then ran my brush left and right across the split for a bit of a back combing effect, and then gave it a spritz with hair spray. Finally I feel confident that my hair is not going to revert back into a back split again during the day!

This works great! I’ve always had this problem plus thin, fine baby hair and came across a very simple method recently that works amazingly well. Style your hair the way you usually do and take your hair brush and place it at the top of where your hair begins splitting and holding your brush horizontally, gently yet firmly move your brush back and forth without lifting the brush. This tangles the hair at the root and keeps it from separating! Spray a lite coat of hair spray and you are good to go!

I have side swept bangs and they are always getting piecey and separated throughout the day. How can I keep them from looking blah?

Yay, I like this hair fix! Here's a request - how to fix hair mini parts forming on day 2 hair when pulling into a ponytail.

Hi Kate! Thank you for this fix, it will be a great help! I have a problem with a colic in my bangs! How do I get them to lay flatter and have a softer side swept look?
