    Excellent tutorial for me having just bought the iPhone 12 mini. Thinking I knew how to use an iPhone camera, boy was I wrong. So many features and settings I never knew about or used to produce great photos. Easy to follow and easy to listen to.

    The outside the frame setting is basically the phone takes a wide angle pic even if you cannot see it on screen.
    This means that if something was missed you can get it back when editing. Basically being able to expand the pic in editing to stuff that was outside the screen viewfinder you was viewing.
    A great feature.
    Brilliant video.

    • @DHTV
      @DHTV  3 года назад +1

      That’s what I thought but it doesn’t let you edit anymore. Everyone saying it’s just to see what’s outside of the shot but you can’t capture it.

    • @camptube7621
      @camptube7621 3 года назад

      @@DHTV I’ve solved it but it’s not good. The wide angle lens shows the outside the frame pic - darkened out - but since iOS 13 it doesn’t record the extra bit. I didn’t know it was removed as a function until I tried it on my 12 mini. It worked with my 11 pro 😢
      It’s now just to help with composition. Turn it off and you don’t see the faded bit outside the frame. A bit pointless really.
      Thanks for the great video. Learned loads my friend.

    Thanks for the tips. I think ‘View Outside the Frame’ is just so you can see what you might be missing from your shot. You might want to capture something outside the frame that you’ve missed. Or you may decide that your shot would simply look better/more artistic, if you framed it a little wider. In short, it’s a composition aid.

    • @DHTV
      @DHTV  3 года назад +1

      Yeah seems like that's what it is, just weird if it's able to show us that, why not just capture it and let us edit the outer edges back in. I really thought that's how it was demonstrated once.

    • @papik1965
      @papik1965 3 года назад

      @@DHTV I think exactly the same thing. Why isn't the photo preview same size as screen, that you edit after etc. To be quite honest I'm still completely puzzled re this.

    Fantastically helpful video & thank you for going at a reasonable pace to allow us to try everything as you explain. Sadly apply doesn’t give people a dictionary function like my canon 7D 2 does. It’s crazy helpful for us technologically challenged people. It gives an explanation or description for most settings so you actually know what it does. If a camera can do this why can’t a basic mini computer like our iPhone do it? Apple if you read this you should know not everyone speaks geek. Thankfully there’s many people on RUclips willing to put in the time to help us.

    24 fps is for countries having different frequencies in their power lines.
    Some videos using indoor lighting causes flickering in videos.😊

    • @DHTV
      @DHTV  Год назад

      That’s sort of a reason but 24fps produces more motion blur so for anyone looking for that effect it’s available.

    As a new owner of iPhone 12 Mini - fantastic and comprehensive session. One question: if I shoot a regular video, can I use the edit feature to make it play back as if originally recorded in Time-Lapse setting?

    • @DHTV
      @DHTV  3 года назад +1

      Thanks glad it was useful. Yes you can edit to create a time lapse but you would need an editing app that can do that or transfer to a computer and use editing software. The regular photo app editor won’t do this.

    HELP PLEASE how to low down the exposure ?? I make my selfies darker using the square-frame with the little sun on it turned all way down, take my pic and go to gallery. The photo I've taken naturally dark turns to light in a 2-5 seconds. Why???

      Not sure why it turns bright but you can edit the exposure in the photo app

I mean like the whole screen like android phone, when i change it to 16:9 the photos still not captured in full screen when it’s in the gallery

    So, is there a way to zoom more than 0.5 or 1x? Not sure I understand the zoom feature. Thanks!

    • @DHTV
      @DHTV  2 года назад

      Yeah you can zoom further but the .5 zooms out and that’s the max zoom out you have. If you zoom in, you have 1x Optical which means the camera actually physically zooms and if you zoom further it uses digital enhancements to get closer which does degrade the quality the more you zoom.

    Thanks so much Dan for super tutorial which was straight forward and easy to follow. But question for you, as per other viewer, I'm completely puzzled regarding what one sees in the viewfinder/shooting frame, and the finished photo which seems to remain within that frame. i.e. why wouldn't the whole screen be your frame??? Thanks again, Keith

      Thanks glad you liked it. So I’m confused about it to. As far as I have been told it’s to see what’s outside the frame to maybe move to include it. It’s odd to me and I turned it off.

    • @papik1965

      @@DHTV Thanks Dan. But if I turn it off, does that mean that the whole screen then becomes the shooting frame (like with an SLR camera)? And how do you turn it off please?

  • @harnas3848
    @harnas3848 3 года назад

    When use the slow-motion feature the screen starts flickering ,any idea what the reason is?. do you keep the HDR video on or off ?. What about Auto FPS ? Do you apply it to both 30 and 60 FPS?

    • @DHTV
      @DHTV  3 года назад +1

      It’s the lighting in the room. Depending on the type of lighting the slow motion picks up the flickering we can’t see with our eyes. If you try outside in natural light it won’t flicker. Up to you with HDR sometimes it messes up with apps if they can’t handle it.

      Could be so many things. Low light is always going to look kind of grainy, if you are shaky when taking pics it could distort it. You can try restarting the iPhone and seeing if that helps but if it persists you can call Apple to see if it’s a defect

    • @DHTV
      @DHTV  3 года назад

      Make sure night shift isn’t the cause. It’s In your display settings. If it’s on or set to turn on at a specific time and that was the time, that would explain the warmth as that what night shift does. Otherwise check your photo edits and see if something was edited. Also restart the phone and see if maybe it was a glitch.

      @@DHTV thank you for the answer. The night shift wasnt on , i checked and restarted the phone but today i realized that that specific light was the cause. I took a photo in the daylight and it looks fine. Thanks again!
