Steven W. Mosher is an internationally recognized authority on China and population issues, as well as an acclaimed author and speaker. He has worked tirelessly since 1979 to fight coercive population control programs and has helped hundreds of thousands of women and families worldwide over the years.
In 1979, Steven was the first American social scientist to visit mainland China. He was invited there by the Chinese government, where he had access to government documents and actually witnessed women being forced to have abortions under the new “one-child policy.” Mr. Mosher was a pro-choice atheist at the time, but witnessing these traumatic abortions led him to reconsider his convictions and to eventually become a practicing, pro-life Roman Catholic.
Steven has appeared numerous times before Congress as an expert in world population, China, and human rights abuses. He has also made TV appearances on Fox News, Good Morning America, 60 Minutes, The Today Show, 20/20, and CNN news, as well as being a regular guest on talk radio shows across the nation.
He is also the author of the best-selling A Mother’s Ordeal: One Woman’s Fight Against China’s One-Child Policy. His other books include Population Control: Real Costs and Illusory Benefits, Hegemon: China’s Plan to Dominate Asia and the World, China Attacks, China Misperceived: American Illusions and Chinese Reality, Journey to the Forbidden China, and Broken Earth: The Rural Chinese.
Articles by Steve have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Reader’s Digest, The New Republic, The Washington Post, National Review, Reason, The Asian Wall Street Journal, Freedom Review, Linacre Quarterly, Catholic World Report, Human Life Review, First Things, and numerous other publications.
Steven Mosher lives in Ave Maria with his wife, Vera. He has nine children.

My word! This testimony gave me the chills!!!!! It is both revolting and gruesome! But we know that God will prevail as ruler of the Universe and king of hearts. May God who is the Author of Mercy, pity these poor innocent souls who were slaughtered in China. Let us continue to pray for the conversion of souls and the work of priests who serve Holy Mother Church. My brother thank you the program and this astonishing testimony. May our Risen Jesus continue it to bless the work you do. I'm on a train in New York City listening as I head home and I felt I was transported in time to China as described. Jesus Christ remains Lord of heaven and earth.

There is a documentary about the one-child policy by an American-born woman of a Chinese immigrant/refugee from this time. She went to China & interviewed people from her mother’s hometown in China. One of the women she talked to was a nurse who worked in the state’s abortion program & was haunted by it. She said that women they had taken to the abortion center would escape in the nude so that there was no piece of clothing on their body’s that the medical center’s could use to catch & drag the women back to abort their babies, sometimes even 9 months pregnant. The fact that the stories & idea that maybe you could save your baby’s life if you were naked when you made your escape attempt speaks volumes about the Chinese women’s pain years of suffering. It tells you that the older women had replayed their failed escapes & decided they might have made it if the doctors & nurses didn’t have any clothing to grab & how much they’ve grieved the murder of their babies. That was the point at which I turned the documentary off because I was heartbroken & cried for the rest of that day. I believe the documentary was on Amazon streaming. I do remember the nurse that told the documentarian that was using her nursing knowledge to help women with fertility issues get pregnant to atone for the state abortion program.

What a wonderful testimony!!! Thanks so much for sharing this with us. I am just now finishing “Rome Sweet Home” by Scott & Kimberly Hahn & as a “Catholic Revert” & former Anglican Transitional deacon, who also interned in the same denomination in which Scott Hahn served as a pastor (prior to my entering the Anglican Church); I have been thrilled at his and Kimberly’s journey into the Catholic Church. Your testimony as a part of the “Academy” and your experience in China along with with your experience in RCIA in SoCal is also something which kept me at bay from returning to the Church. I can relate entirely. . .but thankfully God is relentless with His sheep and drew me back in spite of experiences such as you recounted here in those liberal dioceses in the L.A. area. I used to teach in Menlo Park & often had coffee on Univ. Ave. There in Palo Alto. . . A wonderful area. It wasn’t until years later that I returned on the Feast of Christ the King, 2023. Blessings to you Prof. Mosher and all who may read this. God is good all the time!

One of the MOST coherent testimony from a truly morally gifted man! I knew it was really bad in China with abortions and forced sterilizations, but his eye witness to the hideous suffering of the mothers and the babes in the womb, and the story of Mao as a child and a tyrant leader of CCP, moved me to increase my prayers tonight and dedicate a rosary in particular for the people of China. My heart grieves for them and of course no one grieves more for these souls than Our Blessed Mother and her beloved son, Jesus Christ. May God bless you and your families, Steven and Eddie! In his era if the father died, a child was considered an ‘orphan’ because women (usually) had no land rights, no say-so over the estate, how it would be run nor over children. I assume his mother was given that right over the estate and George’s raising in the father’s will.
EDIT-I could be wrong. Perhaps the estate was already hers through her father’s will?

A social worker once told me that evil sometimes runs in testosterone circles. Like the kind of testosterone circles which exists in that one kind of organized crime which a whole lot of both R.C.M.P. officers and municipal police officers often feel frustrated about because it is going on in the court houses most in that one section of the court houses that have been set aside only for families where every family member involved ending up there is being eto jhaxpected to pay for services there no matter what has happened to them up until then. Including some of us who almost lost our lives to domestic violence after that didn't result in enough evidence to satisfy all the men around as being enough to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was not consensual. One reason why I am not nearly impressed with Vlad same as a whole lot of young women who are being told to hate all feminists no matter what year they were born. Like before the year 1935 when Mao Tse Tung decided the answer to all of his problems too was women who are not being properly controlled. Well at least you bothered to witness that kind of procedure being done on a woman while she was still alive instead of only during a post mortem study of her remains containing maybe a conception which according to them along with wombs is the most important to the world part of her remains after she died to be discussed about in court as alleged proof that her death was the result of consensual sex instead of rape. Her name is Cindy Gladue. Very curious indeed how some men have set themselves up on a much higher plane than us women exist on according to them. While accusing all who have ever lived the communal lifestyle to be hated as pagan communists if including those who have ever lived on reserves or in a Kibbutz commmunity too since they are living the same lifestyle as Mao Tse Tung. Some people sure do love identity politics eh?

It's sickening, certainly, yet there is hope in the mere fact that _someone_ thought it important enough to reveal to the world. Despite the evil of those in powerful positions who could do something, but refuse, there is hope in the response from people with less power who cry out to God to change stony hearts to save babies.
