I’m a Jewish convert to the Catholic Faith. I love Jesus so much! I am so grateful to know Him!
The orans posture is very Jewish. I’ve seen photos of the beautiful Ethiopian Jews praying in this position. “Let my prayer come before You like I incense … The lifting of my hands like an Evening Oblation … “
But God sees the heart, and if you aren’t comfortable praying in some position, or you have a physical or psychological impediment, “pray as you can, not as you can’t.” God bless!

I loved how you handled that first prayer asking for Mary's help. I had a similar experience, with the same reticence, probably because I had started listening to Christian radio programs while driving in the car.
I'm a convert from Judaism. I was converted by a dream. I fell madly in love with Jesus. Even though it was Mary in the dream, I understood instantly that Jesus is real, He's alive, and He has all the power and all the love. I was bowled over. I went around all day like I was filled with helium gas -- just floating. That night I got down on my knees and said to the Lord, "I'm yours body and soul, do whatever You want with me." My second prayer was asking Him to find me my church before Easter. That was on March 12, 1990. After an exciting adventure of about a month, going to any church where I was invited, I was led to the Catholic church in my neighborhood, on Good Friday. I knew right away, that was where I was meant to be.
I was so crazy about Jesus, I told Him, "I love Your Mother, but I'm sorry, I really don't want my Mother-in-law along on my honeymoon.
Not long after that, I had a really important prayer request. There was someone I wanted to talk to and share my testimony with, but I hadn't seen him in months. On my way home one evening, I got up the courage to say, "Lord, I hope it's okay and it doesn't offend You in any way if I ask your Mother to pray for this intention." Then I asked Mary to pray, describing exactly what I wanted to happen, the conversation and every detail. Less than two minutes later, I saw the person I wanted to talk to. I found a parking spot, and we had an excellent talk. It was an amazing answer to prayer.
I feel that Mary is my friend, that she's happy I love her Son. I can imagine myself helping her fix dinner and do the dishes. I picture her in the kitchen baking cookies for all the kids on the block. She's that sort of Mom.

I'm former Pentecostal (Assemblies of God). Some of my Pentecostal family who can't wrap their heads around my becoming Catholic have reconciled it by thinking that I will "shake things up" and help Catholics become "born again" and stop doing Catholic things.
Reformed theology made me prideful. I was chosen, I was saved, I was better than those idiots who couldn't figure it out. I had royalty, I was morally superior, I was going to heaven. I said the sinner's prayer, I could sit back, relax, and wait for death or the rapture. Catholicism not only levels the playing field but reveals that our lives as Christians is a lifetime act of the will, a choice we make every moment of every day. And for that reason none of us is better than the other.
In Pentecostalism, my sins were "forgotten" by me. I was aware of them, but hey, God already forgave me. I was good! I put little to no effort into stopping. I justified sins. I even ignored sins thinking they weren't sins or weren't big enough to matter. But, becoming Catholic all of my sins are revealed, laid out in the open, I see my struggles and have to confess them and do penance for them. And that has helped me grow in virtue and in love if Christ and others in ways that I couldn't as a "saved and done" evangelical.

I've been spending a lot time with a lot of protestants recently, and many aren't open to a conversation like you were, which is too bad. Your story is so great, your openness to learn and stop judging, and then suddenly seeing where this will draw you closer...how beautiful! We have so much in common, but the constant arguments tamp down real conversation. Your story provides great ideas on how to get past the arguments!

I was raised Catholic and went to catholic school til I was in 7th grade. Then I went to a Baptist school that turned me away from Catholicism. I had a rough young adulthood and fell away hard. I tried to go back in my late 20s but was pushed away by a priest. Got really angry and turned away from God completely. The devil convinced me that I was going to hell so I should just reject God and find something else. I went down a dark path for years, a dark path.
One day, I was online and saw a picture of Jesus with the sacred heart. I felt something, this tremendous outpouring of love and some kind of light and this beautiful energy. I broke down crying. I was so confused, was he real, did he want me? It took me a while but I could never forget that. I had a wild angel encounter that saved my life in my twenties and that stuck with me too.
So I'm back in the Catholic church now and watching and learning all the biblical reasons behind our beliefs but all these prodestant issues are still rattling around in my head and I have such fear of fully embracing my faith. I pray the rosary everyday but I'm terrified that I'm displeasing God so my heart isn't in it.
Any advice? I'm scared to go to my priest because of the experience I had when I went back before. I don't want to be turned away again. The worst thing I ever did was to walk away from my faith the first time.

Jennifer make an appointment to speak with a priest. If he is unkind or unwilling to hear you out, go to another priest. Don’t give up. I was told by someone I knew whose brother was away from the Church for a long time, that he went to confession. The priest he went to was unkind. So he walked out and went to the next confessional and was forgiven by that priest. We must remember they are human. God bless! ❤️

And as the previous person posted-find a True priest whose heart is for Christ!! And you dont stop until you find one! ❤️🙏🏻 we have all displeased God and will again and that is what confession is for. We don’t give up! Start going to mass if you are not going even if you can’t partake just yet! Don’t let the enemy keep you from being there! I’m in RCIA and soon to come in and I saw your comment and my heart goes out for you! It’s been 6months since you posted, I pray you have already found a parish❤ continue to study your faith- get the Protestant stuff out of your head. The Holy Spirit will help you! I was a very devout evangelical/ Baptist until I began to study the history. Ask about a class you can take to help you know your Faith better. I have a couple of people in my class that were born Catholic but they never practiced it until recently. Praying for you!!😄🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️

Fascinating. I had to look up what you meant by 'scruples' as I'd never heard it spoken about in the way you were using it. It seems it's even called that in psychology, a recognised disorder, distinct from but often intermingled with OCD. My head hurts. I've been called back to Christ after being into 'new age' mystical mumbo jumbo for decades, and am searching for my spiritual home where I can be with others who know and love Him, and will support my faith, not destroy it. I see problems with every denomination, and am not going to any church as a result. I have a tendency towards needing to be across something intellectually before I will trust it, and relate to your guest in this regard. Can't wait to see Part 2 of this. Many thanks for sharing, and I'm fascinated to explore your channel more.

Hey, I would like to share my message I received while sleeping. I'm thinking it was St Joseph or my guardian angel who spoke to me. I was raised Catholic, and I love my church. I never wandered to other religions because I remember when I was in high school, I heard the teacher say that the Catholic church was the true church of Christ. I think that is why I received this message, because I can't understand why others aren't Catholic. Now with the internet it's a way to learn and this message is important. St Joseph said to me," that all Jewish Kings choose their Mother to be Queen."1 kings 2,20 says that King Soloman (a Jewish king) gave His Mother, Bathsheba the throne to His right. Because the Kings have so many wives, but they had one Mother, to be Queen. Our Lords spouses are Sisters or Nuns who give up their livers for Jesus. The Convent has a wedding for each one, and they wear a gold band on the right hand, Jesus is their spouse. They are His hands and feet to teach people to love Jesus. Protestants can't see this. Is Jesus a Jewish King? Mary is His Mother; she is your Queen. Statues of Mary have cried tears. I wonder if she cries for your love, She is your loving Mother given to us at the foot of the cross from Jesus. Love her. God bless you

I am a convert from Pentecostalism. I have been really researching the hate of Catholicism and trying to find the root. You mentioned it being worse in the states and this totally goes along w what I think I’m uncovering. In 1500s king Henry VIII creates Church of England and breaks from Catholicism, mostly a break from the pope. Calvinism was spreading throughout England at the same time. The Puritans were a form of Calvinism in the Church of England, that was trying to completely get away from anything Catholic. The Church of England still resembling Catholicism, the Puritans literally fled to America to completely divorce themselves from all of it. Enter Dispensationalism in 1850s….Scofield put Dispensationalism in the footnotes of his Schofield study Bible….and the rest is history as they say.

I don’t leave comments often but I feel a scared and anxious going through this conversion. I’m going through the process of converting from Methodist , Pentecostal, Baptist , Presbyterian / Reformed theology to Catholic and I too have been feeling anxious and attacked at night. I really don’t like dealing with that terror stuff and sometimes it doesn’t make sense that God would allow this to happen to me if I’m trying to get closer to him by learning about Catholicism. I never felt attacked like that as a Protestant. Coming from Protestantism (still am technically, but my heart is wanting to convert to Catholicism) when I read my Bible and did my own Protestant daily devotions I always felt extremely close to God and had immense levels of peace and security and a strong presence of the Holy Spirit guiding me, it was always me and Jesus with the help of the Holy Ghost leading me. But I did always had issues internally about Protestant churches , the way they worshiped and did service always felt uncomfortable to me. I always thought to myself “should that be allowed in church? Is that holy? Should we be having all these lights and entertainment going on?” When I discovered that the Catholic Church and started attending the mass , I saw how it addressed all these issues and this was how church was supposed be since the beginning I immediately was convinced. However, even though I do feel convinced and happy to learn that Catholicism is the original and one true church , I don’t know why I feel so anxious and nervous to pray to Mary or the Saints . I’m so scared to do that because me and Jesus have had such a peaceful relationship and it was just me , God , and the Holy Spirit. Now that I’m learning about the rosary , Mary, and the saints I feel really scared . I start getting these night terrors. It feels like my safety and security has been shaken. This doesn’t seem like it should be happening. I’ve always had peace when I read my Bible and prayed to Jesus alone. Why do I need to pray to Mary and the saints? And it can even get confusing who I’m supposed to pray to and for what? If anyone could try to help me I would greatly appreciate it. God bless you all and I’m trying to my best.

Don’t criticize your priest ( it says in the bible)
Sometimes the mass is boring for you but for other is a blessing. We catholics don’t comment the mass. Remember is the sacrifice of Jesus and it doesn’t have to be fun. It was fun only for Romans and Jews in the time he was condemned to death. But most important remember Jesus died for your sins. Pay more attention to the word of God and the gospel.

Thanks be to God for this explanatuof scruples and the big difference between the false "reformed" belief, once saved always saved - which is really an unformed belief - and the true faith that is based on scrutiny of one's soul. Well, how DOES it happen that Jesus could say "I never knew you". Only if we do not spend a fair amount in self-examination of our motives for doing things or not doing things? My mum's side of the family are Protestant and I feel their scruples are all around death - they are so afraid of death. No wonder. On the other side, my father is so protestant in his thinking. I don't even know if he ever goes to confession. So he has no scruples whatsoever but many of his actions are such that no protestant would ever convert, even my mum. 😢

It sounds like a lot of people who are taking a step back to reevaluate their theology are going Catholic or some other form of Orthodoxy.

Regarding 'once saved, always saved' and the notion that Protestants do not consider purgatory, the Catholic Church offers a deeper and more biblically consistent understanding of salvation. The idea that someone can be 'saved' and then sin all they want without consequences is contrary to both Scripture and reason. Let me illustrate:
Imagine a person who claims they have accepted Jesus as their Savior but continues to live in grave sin-committing adultery, stealing, or even harming others-believing they are 'once saved, always saved.' Would this align with Jesus' call to repentance (Luke 13:3) and His warnings against those who cry, 'Lord, Lord,' but fail to do the will of the Father (Matthew 7:21-23)? Certainly not! Scripture reminds us that those who continue in sin after knowing the truth risk judgment (Hebrews 10:26-27).
Similarly, St. Paul teaches in 1 Corinthians 9:27 that even he, an apostle, disciplines himself so that he will not be 'disqualified.' If 'once saved, always saved' were true, why would Paul express concern about being disqualified from salvation? Clearly, salvation requires perseverance and fidelity to God’s commandments.
As for purgatory, it exists because most of us die imperfectly attached to sin, even after confessing and repenting. Purgatory is not a punishment but a mercy-God purifies us so we can stand before Him in holiness (Hebrews 12:14). For example, if someone has a habit of gossiping or lying but dies repentant, purgatory cleanses these lingering imperfections, preparing the soul for heaven (1 Corinthians 3:15).
The truth hurts, but it can’t harm. The idea of 'once saved, always saved' may be comforting, but it risks promoting spiritual complacency and ignoring Christ’s command to 'be perfect, as your Heavenly Father is perfect' (Matthew 5:48). True salvation is not a free pass to sin but a call to transformation and holiness, through God’s grace, until the end of our earthly journey.

Love Taylor Marshall but don't think is for the not for all the new catholics or converts to be, you can get confused, TM is much more than critizing Pope Francis. He interviews great NO bishops priests all the time. But you can get confused if you don't have the whole background and context and picture.
As a cratel catholic don't have any issues and can see past his Latin mass only mindset. Yes it is the best one, the truests one, but Our Lord is still in the Holly Eucharist and there are NO holly priests, for now, still. Not for long. And most people don't have access to the LM. But stay away from the woke masses and priests and never have communion on the hand!!!! And yes, do look for the right priest for you, find a spiritual director, pray God will delivered!!!!
