    Let's hear your best guess on what's wrong with the 1) 1999 Ski Doo MXZ 600, and 2) 1991 Polaris Indy Lite 340. Guess them both correctly and you'll get pooled into a drawing to win some stuff.

      I’d say the Indy 340 needs rings for sure and a tuneup

  • @joesnowmobiles
    @joesnowmobiles Год назад +2

    Jeremy your compression tester is the one that has the shrader valve at the top near the guage it’s one that they sell usually at harbor freight they always read very low I have one it does the same. The ones with the check valve where it screws in to the spark plug hole will have higher compression.

    Another enjoyable video! Thank you! The ski-doo, check ALL grounds and connections, bad DESS key? The polaris, air leaks usually mean melted / seized pistons. It seems to run good until it gets hot, then appears to affect both cylinders. center crank seal, maby ignition coil. Hears an off the wall guess, flywheel gets hot and magnets lose their magnetism.

    Make sure you have the tether all the way on. Might not be making contact good enough. The Polaris needs help.

  • @corym.4971
    @corym.4971 Год назад +1

    I had an old polaris cobra 440 that ran like that, would be good for a while then bog. Turned out the heads hadn't been torqued properly so it'd go through cycles of plugging up the tiny gap, then blowing out the plug. It probably would have shown on a compression tester I'd had one.
    Also, the only reason it ran at all by the time I got it was someone mixed 2 stroke with diesel instead of regular fuel before it sat for a decade... win! It eventually bit it when it threw the chaincase to track bearings and those were worth more than the sled was to replace. I've learned since that was bull and probably could have had it fixed back then with a makeshift press and a couple generic bearings for less than $20.

  • @pauldionne2884
    @pauldionne2884 Год назад +4

    On the Skidoo I was surprised when you replaced the regulator and it worked. It must have been moving around all the wiring in that area that brought it back to life. Check the nearby connectors for good contact, make sure the regulator itself has a good chassis ground.

    I think the polaris issue is in the clutching. Engagement seems to be very low in the rpm range. Either the secondary isn't backshifting fully, or the primary spring is weak

      @bhoss7133 Год назад +2

      That's what I'm suspecting as well. Clutch getting stuck in open position is equivalent to pulling out in too tall of a gear and it seems few people ever consider this as the problem. A good & easy test is to pick up the rear of the sled (track off the ground) and give it throttle to see if RPMs build as normal.

    Voltage regulator controls electrical output for lighting and accessories. If it ran after replacing it, most likely you wiggled a connector with a bad contact or moved a bare wire that was grounding to the frame.

  • @johnfonda985
    @johnfonda985 Год назад

    Jeremy it's the compression. my son's sled did the same thing. once they get too hot it's over no power bogging

  • @leftgecko7
    @leftgecko7 Год назад

    91 Polaris bogging is dirty carbs / plugged jets and possibly needs a new fuel pick line with a fuel strainer put back on it. I'm sure its on the bottom of the tank. The 99 Ski Doo is your throttle switch sticking more than likely. Other than that sweet vids.

    I had a Indy lite 340 growing up my parents bought brand new for my brother and I in 1996 it was a great little sled! We beat the life out of that poor thing. All my friends had bigger and better sleds it wasn’t a rocket ship by any means but it would do 85 down the road and 70 through the fields with me on it. I could throw that little thing around so good I had no problem keeping up with the 500’s and 600’s in the trails.

    Stator is probably bad on your skidoo. I had a John Deere 340. Rode it for a long time before realizing the crank seals were bad. And it still ran without bogging like that Indy you have. I had a 440 Indy that would bog when the belt got warm. So my guess on the Indy is a clutching/belt issue
