In our community theater while I was volunteering as a kid (and somehow ended up stage manager?) we had to go around and make sure the building wasn’t on fire since there was no fire system.

4:57 that's happened to me and the cast and dancers at many different dance and theatre companies that it is no longer funny, yet we still laugh every time
9:50 is my friends backstage and generally all the time and 9:53 is me

Our theatre was tiny so we had to leave props literally everywhere-we blocked two fire exits every single night XD

bro this video is soooooo underrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also- last year our school did a production of frozen and for Let It Go, our actor for Elsa was absolutely fab! I was an ensemble member for that scene. (ON OPENING NIGHT) We had fog machines and my asmatha never acts up but the one time i needed it not to, it did and i passed out backstage after curtains closed :D fun times. worth it tho- turned out fab opening night.

3:53 we did that at my school during the lightning thief during the scene where grover is talking to a squirrel the fog machine was way too strong and set of the alarms i have a video of my friend dancing backstage and at the very end you can hear the fire alarm beep

we were doing the junior production (like 11-13) and the fire alarm went off right before the dress bc of the fog machine

It’s tech week at the moment for us but I’m curious.
Does anyone else’s director love to change entire dance numbers and blocking the week of, leading to us having to redo our lighting, sounds, and shift plot list every single time? Or is that just a me issue?
(Someone please save us from our director. We open in 3 days and we still haven’t had a full run through because he keeps changing everything)

I wrote all of this before realizing that you might have just been looking for the wrong words. Something along the lines of "technical theater" might be a term that they use. Anyway, if you care to read:
This varies between schools. I've never actually been on stage crew, but as a techie I know that "Theater" generally encompasses all elements of it (acting and tech/stage crew).
If you're looking to join a club in theater, there is going to be a distinction between "acting club" and "technical theater club" but you can always go back and forth between the two.
If you're looking for a class in theater there can be several options or fewer options, and this is where it depends on the school. At my school there are 4 levels of acting classes and 2 levels of technical theater classes. The 3rd and 4th levels of acting(which are typically for 11/12 grade & require auditions and interviews) offer a tech crew opportunity for techies, so they will be in the class even if they don't act.
Here's what I say: If you like acting then doing the acting class in your freshman year would be great. But for joining the crew I would advise you to try the club out first, maybe on a show that isn't a musical, and see what you like. High school is really all about exploring your interests :)
(**extra points if your school counts theater as a PE credit!!)
