      Kurt Cobain smashing every amp and guitar in the afterlife.

    • @LordPadriac
      @LordPadriac 4 года назад +12

      @@chrisgriffin2579 To be fair most of what we saw Kurt smashing guitar heads through onstage weren't actual amps. It's common practice now to have fake amp stacks for the "look" record company execs think a show should have. Almost all of the amps on stage are just plywood boxes with grille cloth on the front. They generally fold down flat for easy transport. They are fake, unneeded, inauthentic and pissed Kurt off. That's why his guitars - usually - came through breaking the "amps" onstage without any significant damage. If he tried that shit with real amps it's likely he would have died from the incredibly high voltage running through the tube amps he preferred at some point. Steel guitar strings being an good electrical conductor and all.

      It still bugs me to this day that he left the skins to write painfully average dad rock songs. He had the fastest wrists I've ever heard on a rock drummer and played with a ferocious energy that just evaporated into.... just meh. He went from being one of the most exciting musicians in the genre to writing garden variety sports arena rock songs. I mean I don't hate him, and he'll always be among my favorite drummers, but I'll always think of what could have been when it comes to Dave.

    I love Kurt's voice because I can copy it. It's so good, yet you could still do it whilst absolutely drunk (and Kurt did a few times). If you're trying to replicate it, I find it great to just loosen your throat, and push just enough air out to fry your chords. If it hurts, you're doing it wrong, but it should come naturally within a month or two of trying. Start off with a low croak (I usually start with an "aaahhh" sound, very slow and fairly low frequency), speed it up until you can push past it without wrecking it. Then, push more air out than you usually would (not too much, it could hurt). It's less of a scream that a whimper, but with the air flow of a scream.
    If my tips don't work, then sorry. I'm not a vocal coach, just some jackass in his bedroom screaming at walls and ruining guitar amps!

    I love watching your videos because I've seen others that really focus on the technical aspects, which is fascinating, but you reference that part of it while taking moments to just enjoy the music. Love it!

    Dave grohl, the current singer and guitarist of the Foo Fighters is on the drums. These are the main lyrics:
    I don't care×5 care if it's old
    I don't mind×5 I don't have a mind
    Get away×5 away from your home
    I'm afraid×5 ghoooost
    Chorus-->
    "Even if you had, even if you needc I don't mean to brag we don't have to breed. We can plant a house, we can build a tree, I don't even care, we can have all three she said"

    Drain You (Live) by Nirvana in Paris! Kurt's guitar stops working, and it's one of those rare moments you see him on stage without a guitar. And it's just a great live performance. :)

    In their SNL performance... if I remember it was 'Territorial Pissings', you can actually see Kurts top cheeks? puff out while he sings... accurate with Beth saying he sang with his breathe up front and although the distortion sounds like a strain on the vocal cords (chords?), it most certainly was not.

    • @PhotonJon
      @PhotonJon 5 лет назад +3

      @@underkoffer1621 No I mean "correctly" as in a sustainable way that wouldn't hurt him in the long term. I sing in a band with similarish vocals (probably a little bit more extreme) but there's a correct way to do it so that you don't damage yourself. You're right though he is bloody brilliant. There'll never be another Kurt.

      Kevin Jon Lennon So true about there never being another Kurt. Right after, Kurt passed away, I bought a guitar and learned to play as Kurt did. But after three years in a band, it got so monotnus, playing the two finger chords so I learned to actually play. I wrote most of our songs but nothing ever came from them. Kurt was a great song writer. We got about ten records worth of songs from him. Hope more come, soon.

    • @acidsupernova
      @acidsupernova 5 лет назад +3

      He was constantly tearing up his vocal chords and coughing up blood after his shows. The smoking habit didn't help either. But the sounds he made were awesome. Unhealthy and would never have lasted long-term. But amazing nonetheless.

      Aaron A Aaronson That is what Kurt said about his words. “I wrote them very fast just to not have to work much.” So true. “Polly” was based on a story and “All Apologies” was written, I believe to his wife. But some are just quickies, like “Negative Creep”. He only had three strings on his guitar and the studio said, “We need one more song, today.” And he played it only once. Good band, though.

      First the studio version of 'You Know You're Right', then once you've recovered from that listen to the home recorded acoustic demo that Kurt made. The two versions provide striking contrasts of each other. The studio version is full of rage while the home demo bleeds despair. I like listening to them back to back and at the end I'm nearly shaking!

    • @hewgrebe4771
      @hewgrebe4771 5 лет назад +1

      Defensor Rationis So, true. That studio version, yes. It is like “You play here and here, while I sing.” That demo is so much better with all the feelings Kurt sings through. Can just hear how hard it is for him to get to the notes he needs to convey how he is feeling at that instant of time. Such a good piece of music.

    I guess Ms. Roars hasnt seen the end of a Nirvana show in 1993/1994. They annihilate their guitars, beat amps into submission, set fire to drum heads, and yes, he even swings his microphone around. But it's all for a purpose.
    To find that perfect imperfection, that magical sound of distortion. It's beautiful.
    I suggest Radio Friendly Unit Shifter Loud and Live Seattle 1993. Ifq you get nothing else from that video, you will get to see Kurt's smile at the end. Its absolutely one of Nirvana's best songs.
