That picking stuff up with the harpoon technique was totally worth watching this video alone. I never even thought to try to do that, but kept wondering if there was an easier way to loot stuff from the sea.
A quick tip for new players, he makes it look easy digging up chest it will take more than a few tries on some maps[unless you use a compiss like i did😩]

Do some commendations award gold that I've forgotten about? Or is this a secret specific to the Maiden Voyage? None of the commendations for Maiden Voyage even mention that.

Just depends on who you plan on playing with if you plan on having a crew then save for the bigger ships if you only plan on playing with one other person then definitely get a sloop

If u wanna dig up treasures via maps/riddles, do gold hoarders. I recommend either trying to get 3 companies to 50, for pirate legend, or if you find a cosmetic you like, do quests for it.
If progress isn't saved, there's many things to do that you can practice to progress your skill level. Gold Hoarder voyages can help you solve riddles faster and give you map knowledge. Fighting skeleton ships will improve your sailing and ship combat. For hand-to-hand combat, it's fastest to fight other players and board their ship. When you eventually get killed, you have to examine how they outplayed you and try to learn the same tactics for your future battles.
Do hour glass, the most important skills to learn on the seas is how to fight & how to sail, without these skills you're going to have an extremely hard time.
To all the ps5 players that will buy this if you want to get good at pvp and naval combat do hourglass at your ships table, when you sink just learn from your mistakes and you will be a pvp god in no time
Would you recommend this strategy if I’m trying to get a friend a captain ship as fast as possible? A PS only friend of mine is getting the game in April, but I’m pirate legend so I could do anything to help him get gold.
Ofcorse, this will get him in a few hours if you're a pirate legend, you can add an emissary flag too of your choice to make gold faster from the King Skulls you find on the way
This game could’ve been so much bigger. It could’ve been a proper mmo with an economy to go with it. The game being strictly cosmetic is what I stopped playing. I became pirate legend then realised there was no purpose in anything. Get one cosmetic then grind for a new cosmetic, and the cycle continues. The game itself doesn’t change.

And some might take months which gives them time to also remove those xD

When fishing, tap the reel as it's pulling. You'll consistently reel in the fish, and it's a lot quicker. Watch the vibration of the rod, though.

It really just depends on player count, you really dont want a larger ship than how many people you have bc they are hard to use without the full crew

The veterans are more excited than you. They can't wait to spawn camp you and take your hours of grinding for themselves.
