A home in Fairfield will not cost you more than $597,000? All I know is that any newer home here with 1800 sq feet costs more than $1,000,000. When was this video made......2005?
Connecticut has wonderful health care and great schools. We are little but powerful. It is expensive to a degree but so many communities are safe. I love where I live, 7 minutes to the ocean, 10 minutes to a lovely lake. Very safe and quiet. I would never want to live anywhere else unless I could go back to my childhood home on Mount Desert Island in Maine.
Aka you need at least a million dollars in those areas n I live in a beautiful neighborhood near mystic Niantic old Lyme. I bought my house for 149k 7 bed 3 bath big yard pool n I’m considered poor. This site mention top dollar towns. FYI 3200 sq feet. Waterford Connecticut. Next to me is east Lyme same mirror Rowan and prices. Ps all I mentioned is on the water. This is a trick video. I’ve 3 beautiful kids and single full time dad.
@@naturopathicobsessedrenee5515 If your daughter has the money (over $300,000 saved) to put a down payment on a home and to afford repairs and taxes) then Fairfield county is the place to be. Houses in the area average $1M. My husband grew up in Greenwich and I lived in Norwalk, Fairfield, Darien, and the Cove in Stamford. Stamford is very busy, but the back woods of Stamford (North Stamford) is beautiful. If Fairfield county is too pricey, then Litchfield county is the next best area. Also, expensive at about $900k for a house, but the area is affluent and safe. Getting away from the high end, there are small towns like Wolcott, and Watertown (housing costs an average of $350K) that are laid back quiet towns with plenty to do in the surrounding areas, but housing is affordable and the area is still very safe. There are bigger towns, like Guilford that are still very safe, cost an average of $600K but are up and coming so the housing prices will continue to climb. It depends on what she is looking for. A seaside house along long island sound, a lakeside community in the foothills of the Berkshire mountains, a wooded area or farming community there are lots of areas to choose from in CT. Places to avoid at all costs: Waterbury Bridgeport Torrington Downtown Stamford Parts of Stratford Parts of Milford East Haven West Haven is better than the other Haven's, but not great Hamden Branford is iffy New haven -around Yale is good, but outside of the college be careful. And the entirety of the valley, Naugatuck, Seymour, and ansonia. Beacon falls and Oxford are still part of the valley, but are nicer. Be forwarned the valley floods badly and Oxford was just recently destroyed. Happy house hunting.
I HERE IN FARMINGTON I DRIVE TO AVON IN 10MINS. FARMINGTON IS JUST AS NICE AS AVON. WEST HARTFORD IS NICE AS WELL. ITS A 10 15MINS DRIVE FROM ME!!!! MY SISTER LIVES IN CHESHIRE. TAKES ME 30 40MINS TO GET TO CHESHIRE. I GREW UP IN CHESHIRE I MOVED WHEN I WAS 9 or 10 YRS OLD! BUT CHESHIRE IS REALLY NICE. AND STILL TO THIS DAY THAT SCHOOL IS STILL THERE KIDS STILL GO THERE. IDK IF THEY CHANGED THE NAME. WHEN I WENT IT WAS CALLED CHAPMAN!
I was born and raised in New Haven CT….Morris Cove area. It was a great place to grow up in the 60s 70s. Still a nice place but the rest of New Haven is a cesspool ghetto. Taxes are far too high and. Looking forward to moving out. Look into New Hampshire, much lower taxes and not nearly as many ghettos. Ct is far too Liberal for me as well.
Liberal equals open minded. But you don't have to absorb that you can be who you are. I love Conn and I appreciate people who are accepting of others who do not fit into a traditional mold. Diversity is a lovely blessing. ❤
Yeah "liberal", Colorado is liberal (they just legalized mushrooms), CT is neo-liberal and full of country club Republicans thus why there are so many hedge funds
I'll save everyone some time, nowhere. As a life long Connecticuter, this state sucks, employment opportunities are dismal, taxes are atrocious, then on top of which there is nothing to do. Yes falls are pretty and scenic, but the winters are summers now are brutal
COLA off the scale an its Cos Cob taxes are lower than most but no public trash pickup, sewers only in some areas Have a great stable job if you move here.
I’m tiring of the AI voiceover with weird pronunciations eg “cus cob.” At least the Mianus River wasn’t mentioned. Surfing in CT? I don’t know perhaps good as a hurricane nears or a huge winter storm. Real estate prices are about twice as high as those mentioned. A high end West Hartford one bedroom condo is more than $300K. Old Greenwich for $1.4 million? Perhaps the cost of a nice garage for your Ferrari. Whoever or whatever put this video together should review the financials for all 20 towns. All seem woefully out of date.
Hahaha. This video is hysterical. Whatever scammer is running this channel knows absolutely nothing about CT and probably nothing about all the other states being reviewed either. Doesn’t even know the difference between towns and parts of towns. And now he’ll grow bigger because we all commented. LOL
Cry me a river, that's why the Dems reduced the gas tax and our gas costs the same or lower than NJ, which was known as one on the lowest gas costs in the country. The repubs never met a subject that they couldn't whine about.
Trick just stay away from Hartford new Britain and New Haven. Southeast Connecticut is affordable and furthest drive from ocean is maybe 25-30 min at he MAX don’t listen to this place guide
I love the southern ct river valley. Middlefield and Durham are beautiful small towns with a perfect location and amazing schools. Rural but accessible to the shore and cities
Drop the reference to New Britain. In the last ten years …enormous changes for the better. Downtown is booming and three quarters of our neighborhoods are delightful. A university town with great medical services. Super park system . Yes there are poor but crime is low . Easily the most upbeat and progressive of the states larger cities.
@@armandzottola1626the only reason new Britain got better is because Central CT state university expanded. As Central declines so will new Britain. It's too close to Newington and there's not enough revenue coming in to continue its improvements.
Connecticut Beaches are all on the Sound, so there is no decent surf. Except for Stamford, the cities in Connecticut are mostly ghetto. Fairfield County is nice and commutable to NYC. The rest of the state is pretty boring. Taxes are high in Connecticut. Move to Massachusetts instead. It's better on almost every metric. Connecticut is like New Jersey, but further from the city.. there are no major league sports teams in CT. It's definitely a drive through state.
I disagree, you need to get out of where you are and explore more of this pretty peaceful state. Try visiting Mystic, Stonington, Ledyard, etc ...Tolland county...Conn is beautiful.
@@katbow5922 it's Massachusetts with run down cities, less varied terrain and smelly, waveless beaches. I've lived in both Connecticut and Massachusetts, as well as California, Nee York, New Jersey, Maine and now retired in Florida. Connecticut was the least interesting of the states where I have lived.

Yes Connecticut has some of the best hospitals
NYC and Northeastern cities have the BEST suburbs.

Again with the CG voiceover? “Ka-Cob?” “Hostile and bustle?” 😂 Get a human to read the narrative. 👎
Home prices and income levels are off by hundreds of thousands of dollars. Until I looked closely, I assumed this video was at least 15 years old.
A starter home in Cos Cob is a million….affordable with a 7 figure income!
