  • @jasonnolan394
    @jasonnolan394 4 года назад +33

    I’ve been in tight backing situations like that myself. The most important thing is stay calm, even though your hands might start sweating. Pull the yellow button and take a time out if you’re stressing. Don’t get frustrated or lose your patience, cause that’s when you mess up and damage something. And then it hangs over your head for a long time. Don’t forget that sliding your axles on your trailer can help in tight situations. Slide them forward to give you better turning radius in a small yard, but be aware your ass is hanging way out and can swing around and hit stuff. or you can slide your axles all the way back if you need to pull out of a dock with not enough side clearance. Some shippers that require you to unhook during a live load want the axles all the way back anyway so the front of the trailer doesn’t lift up when the forklift drives onto the back. Sliding your axles is a pain, but sometimes when you are out of options, it can save your butt. Just remember to dump your air suspension before you pull or push the trailer with the red button out. If the trailer has recently turned loaded, the frame will be slightly twisted and the locking pins on your axles might be jammed and difficult to release. Make sure you use a flashlight and verify all 4 pins are extended into the slots before you leave the shipper! Most states require your axles be centred at the 41 ft mark. California I believe is 40’ to the centre of the last axle. Can’t remember if Maine is the same. You did a good job bro. You got in and out with only a scuffed steer tire, and no yellow paint on your front bumper! Haha

    When I drove I loved Chicago as long as it wasn’t morning crush hour.
    I don’t know how it is now but I was never scared and I would walk around in a lot of industrial areas.

Too many trucking channels are afraid to include long driving portions but as a viewer I enjoy these the most because it’s why you watch a trucking channel. Reminds me of a place in Toronto that fabricated Honda parts. Come winter, they’d put the snow bank right where that sidewalk was for you. Ended up pushing my front bumper in a bit. The company actually reimbursed me for a new chrome bumper for a W900. I pleaded the case that there was just barely enough room for a truck with a bunk in the summer.Plenty of room for day cabbers. It was 100% their fault for getting a highway truck to come pick up… when they knew I wouldn’t fit. They needed that load out asap. Complacent on their part.

    maybe you should get one of those lift up bumpers that you can lift at the push of a button for your truck, maybe for situations like this? 26:47

    i like the idea on first person driving bc it show's what a real truck driver would see and as a 17 year old with a dream to try and get as much motor licenses as posable and learn how to operate any trucks, cars, boats, etc i also plan on doing a RUclips channel with builds videos and driving videos but before i decide to do that i need cam gear and to get my g1 and i will start the channel from there

    Don't miss pulling a reefer through there, that place always was a good challenge. But I recently moved into open deck and heavy haul.
