- The biggest difference here is the camera angle, which makes it more difficult. The entrance is also different with a big door first and then Pinstripe's "SAFETY FIRST" door from Generator Room instead of Cortex's "N" symbol. There's also a glitch in the final room that some times ends the level before you jump on the platform. Other than that, there's nothing major that I can think of, but I don't think there were that many masks in the original.

I have a theory that there was someone at Naughty Dog who had a really major fetish for crate bridges. He was eventually fired.
Into Saturn.
GREAT!
*but you missed 1 box*
They got the level order correctly in the prototype version...I wonder why they messed it up in the final version.
I like the camera angle better this way.
HyperGolem this post is old as shit but I’ll reply anyway. They flipped the order on purpose. They figured cortex power was more difficult than heavy machinery so they didnt want to have that difficulty spike right when you get to the third islamd
@@SycoticForeverNeverAF For a difficulty progression it makes sense but from a dialogue and story perspective it doesn't make much sense how Heavy Machinery is the first level on Cortex Island taking place already inside the power plant and then Cortex Power being the second level suddenly has you outside the plant and then going inside even though Heavy Machinery you were already inside.
lol, that last box.
This level would've been so hard to get all boxes in. Thank goodness they changed the camera.
2:51 lmao
So....trying to keep yourself entertained with the wierd glitchy jumps into the tesla coils?

Damn it, Garland. Quit playing around with that mask!
I like that view better than in the final game. I could never see anything!
I find it interesting how the mask pain sound from this game was changed to the normal one and then implemented in Twinsanity.
0:32 - 1:17 some fun maybe xD
2:39 Impossible with that robot!
Playing this level with that camera angle is something new to me
They did the "small door right behind an utterly massive one" gag long before Portal 2
The whole level is more confined and tight, as there's way more doors and the halls are less wide.
this level was a pain!
Crash Bandicoot 1 is the reason why Rayman 2 is in 3D.
IKR?! I could never see anything with that over-the-shoulder view.
Also, I can't get the outline boxes to turn into regular ones in the last bit of the level! How to do that?
I can imagine Kirby's Factory Inspection playing in the Machine levels.
It seems that there are quite a few changes here, especially with the gem not being in the leve.
do you have to go through every path in the level or are you just making yourself go through extra pain? other than that, great video.
@Axiomatix Certainly looks like it. I think I'm as close as you can get without actually touching it, so it seems I got a little lucky there.
2:51 How frustrating would that have been in a real gem run? =)
Definitely weren't that many masks in the original - the level might not have been so irritating had there been that many
Why isnt no music?:D Just wonder:p Other than that, im really enjoying this walkthrough:D Keep it up!
@99CrashBandicoot the prototype didnt have any. which is understandable being a prototype :)
Is it just me, or were you distinctly standing inside the hot pipe at 2:13?
Yeah, he was - collision is off sometimes in the prototype.
@Marinecorps1812 I can't help it :S
OMG OMG
