Nah, all this tells you is that they've been doing the same job over and over and over again. I helped behind the till as a child and people are impressed by how fast I can count money. Same as helping my Nan stuff envelopes. Sometimes they gave her more than she could get through and anyone that helped her got paid for the number of boxes they cleared. At first, I could only get through one box but being paid per box, I became very fast and with time, rarely got paper cuts. My first job was at a rental car company accepting the cars people returned at the airport. Most people are shit drivers and abandoned cars in the road way. I shuttled cars at fast speeds in an area without customers or pedestrians over and over and over. I became very fast at reversing into spots, parallel parking, reversing distances with bends.
You do the same thing over and over and over and you become faster and more efficient over time. Practice makes perfect.

I like that you appreciate workers, because a lot of Architects thinks that everything is easy and by the book or computer they think its a perfect world out there in a construction site.
Most of the time us builders and installers are risking our own health just to make the job done. I work in Interiors for more than 10 years now in New Zealand. I specialize painting, insulation, sound proofing/acoustic and anything interiors really.

@Not Smurf I'm not sure what you're talking about. I often saw people carrying bricks like that growing up(being from "those corners of the world") and no they did not way less than a pack of butter. Bricks are heavy as bricks everywhere, which is kinda why they're used for construction.

The plasterers are wearing "plasterers stilts". Basically it's four poles, with a flat piece of wood on the bottom, and a moveable foot rest then can go as high or low as is needed. They are strapped to the legs by thick straps with quick release buckles. Very sturdy, very safe and quite inexpensive.

FYI, 10:40 is a game that we play here in Austria (probably in different countries too) called „Nageln“ („Nailing“). Every played gets a nail that he can lighty nail into the wood just so it stands straight. After that you take turns trying to sink the nail with the narrow side of the hammer. Last to sink his nail pays a round of shots.

@7:00 is for heat insulation. They just used it in colder countries to keep the heat in the structure. It is actually not a luxury product, but a necessity.

Only so you know, the video just before 4min, he's got a 'hawk' and a trowel. Normally you put plaster on the hawk and then take it from that using the trowel, then apply to wall. He's using the hawk to throw the muck on the wall. Pretty impressive, but the waste and clean up needed doesn't justify the speed increase. Still impressive though!
That clip at 11:04 is whats called "Nageln" (which is just "Nailing",... anyway). Its a popular party game in the alpine, and surrounding regions of Europe. Whoever has the nail in completely last pays the next round.

The vid at 4:20 is just how we have to plaster here in australia mate, mud chucking to get the 100 sqm a day. Its chucked on, then troweled flat then after a bit of drying its ruled flat, patched and ruled again.

Whenever you design something, and it is built...don't just marvel at your own design, but take the time to appreciate the human capacity to build it, and make it work.

He practiced on one. I was taught the tiling trick but with plank vinyl when I was flooring in east St. Louis. If you have a gap against a trim line, you can flip the piece to the side you DONT want flush with the other tiles/plank and push it against the walls edge. And make your line on the excess material. Once you flip the piece and make the cuts you can flip the piece so the smooth sides will touch the other tiles/plank and the edges where you cut disappear under the trim/threshold of a door.
