there was a story a guy told about how he ran into Ed outside a convenience store close by 5150, and they got to chatting. Guy had never met him before, but he said Ed acted like they were old friends catching up, and even complained that his singer (Dave) had already taken two weeks to sing his vocals, and that his voice was pretty bad. 😅 I can't remember where the story was from, since I heard it a LONG while ago. This track is Eddie's Magnum Opus. It was an instant classic for me when it first came out, and is one of the band's least-reviewed, least-known tunes. I'll forgive the brain freeze if you fully 100% thought and expected that this was Sammy, and you had no expectations that Dave & VH had had a short-lived reunion, which fans were bonkers over, only to be disappointed with their inability/unwillingness to work together. And thanks for doing this reaction!
I will help u rc1. First of all meanwise... was one of two new songs that were added to the best of vol. 1 album. They were recorded with diamond david lee roth.. original singer who left the band in 85.. van hagar was on a hiatus and Ed and Alex wrote some new stuff and presented it to dave.. this was one of the songs he agreed to do for the album . It came out spring of 96 and the new song hit the charts and pulverized them.. it was the first new original line up song in 10 years at the time .. spent a ridiculous 6 or 7 weeks at the top of the main stream rock charts.. unfortunately roth split after the release of the album. Song was never done live such a shame.. sammy rejoined the band after a failed album with Gary cherone.. as lead singer.. sam rejoined vh later.. and they toured to 2904.. and then left the band fir good..
Great info. You, my sir, are a good commentor. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I truly am here to learn as well as have fun. Too bad some have to be rude and condescending. Have a great one!
If you really want to do a deep dive, check out Van Halen III. They couldn’t get a full reunion with Diamond Dave or Sammy, so they picked up Gary Cherrone from Extreme. I like Extreme, but unfortunately they became known for More than Words and it ruined them as a hard rock band. The stuff off the album is more of a collection of Eddie’s “science projects” and experiments. He even did vocals on a song. With the egos of the band at the time as well as the fan backlash, Gary didn’t last. I like the stuff from it but nothing got any real play time on the radio.
Wait, this guy thinks it's Sam? I can't even watch this reaction If he thinks that this is Sam just listening to the vocal If you can't tell this is Dave I'm going to be nice and just say I can't listen to this reaction. Bye
I never knew Roth was back in the band. So Roth never crossed my mind. I stopped listening to VH back then. This is why I am doing this channel, to learn. Have a nice day:)
I believe Glenn Ballard (Alan's Morisett) produced the two songs from 19196.
Dave got back together woth them briefly after Sammy left. They hit this one out the ballpark.
Yes. Thanks for watching.
The ending solo is one of the best solos I’ve ever heard
Ripping!
This is DLR 1996. They did 2 songs for the best of album.
So I have been told:)
That low growl voice was Ed.
Oh, cool:)
That is not Ed that is David Lee Roth@@rc1reactions906
Actually sir that is David Lee Roth on vocals.
Respectfully.
Thanks for sharing!
Yes, I have been hearing this since I uploaded it, haha:) Thanks for watching:)

Thanks for understanding. And yes, I didn't know Dave came back for a short time. I was totally out of the music scene for about 20 years.
@@jackaubrey3037 I heard Eddie had to finish the lyrics back then. Who knows, great song tho

Other song was “Can’t Get This Stuff No More”
This is a hidden gem
it is not Sammy hagar its David Lee Roth
So I have been told:/
It's not Sammy Hagar's David Lee Roth
Thanks for watching.
Van Halen was always better with David lee Roth. What a shame they had their conflicts. This is an amazing tune in 1996.
Agreed.
@@danielmyers4827 Thanks for your opinion
That's dave not sammy
Yup:) Thanks for watching:)
Hi, ….where’s the video 🥹 you know we love visuals 🎶💙🎧
Thanks for watching:)
1996.
I wasn't listening to then. Thanks for commenting.

Thanks , I'll have to look into it.
Spammy’s voice! 😂😂😂 Spammy could never sing like Dave and Dave could never sing like Spammy boy.
Thanks for watching.
That is NOT Sammy - it is DLR.
I look pretty stupid then , 🤣

No you don't!
It's just a simple mistake!
I enjoyed the video!
Killer song!
it's dave!!!!
Yes, I have been told. This is one of the reasons I started this channel, to learn. Thanks for watching.
Ganda ng music
Hello hello:) Thank you for stopping by.
That's DLR.
Yes, everyone else has told me. Thanks for watching:)
Sounds nothing like 5150. It sounds like the original Van Halen with a little Dave spice!!!
We all have opinions:) Thanks for watching:)
HOW do you NOT know this is Dave and NOT Sammy? That’s just strange. Dave does not sound anything like Sam.
I didn't know Dave came back:/ I'm a loser I guess.
Go easy on the more recent new fans- better late than never for those discovering Eddie or any great artist for that matter
Not their best song, but the energy coming out of the solo section until the end is truly unmatched. What fire!
Thanks for commenting:)
You must not listen to Van Halen that much that's David Lee Roth not Sammy Hagar
Got it ;)

You don't know your singers! You can't tell from David Lee Roth from Sammy Hagar
Thanks;)
