I'm not surprised that a competent lawyer was able to make mincemeat of those clowns of doctors. From the sound of it, also, Howard had given Florence syphilis and, again, the doctors seem to have missed that. That story was somehow quintessentially Victorian.
Facts. If Florence knew she had an STD, then doctors should have detected it as well. Sex ed was not taught so the appearance of symptoms had to be obvious. Poor woman.
Yes. It was. Imagine how embarrassing for a married woman of some means to report yet again to a doctor about complaints in her genitalia. The purchase alone would not have convinced me, but that he argued with the clerk who initially refused the sale sold me on his guilt. Why was it something to fight about and also hide?
@@gaslitworldf.melissab2897: The way the justice system is _supposed_ to work is that the accused has the benefit of the presumption of innocence until guilt is proven. First off, she should have stayed home with her mother. Very gullible girl . I do wonder how he administer the poison. 😮. I also wanted to know what happened to the baby she gave birth to? Thank you Briefcase, love all your programs. Great work. God bless you
Why didn't Ms. Harris (the new witness) come forward sooner? Also, who did she testify for (defense or prosecution)? Her testimony shows the possibility of when Florence could've been given the poison. I just wished a proper autopsy was done from the beginning. As of right now, I'm unsure of Harold's innocence/guilt.
I didn't get a chance to watch this case yesterday as usual, but caught up today. What a crazy turn of events! I find it fascinating that even though he was acquitted in the second trial, that he ended up dying a year later from disease, so I guess in the end, one can't cheat death...

I just forwarded this video to my son in Florida. I was married to a Benham for over twenty years. It was my name too! We have three children and eight grandchildren. Excluding my two sons' wives there are seven of them who have the surname Benham. Since six of them are male I expect the name will go down through another generation on this branch. Here's the weirdest coincidence that really caught my attention, my mother-in-law was FLORENCE BENHAM! My father-in-law was born and raised in NY. But he was from NYC. I do have an active Ancestry subscription with a family tree I occasionally work on. My kids all have submitted their DNA there. So, new cousins, maybe? At least there's a place to start. I'll definitely be investigating some more on this.Too bad the son changed his name though I really do understand why he did it. Of course, even with finding someone, this is a subject any possible descendants may not want to discuss, if they even know. If they are on Ancestry, likely this story is not unknown. I can always share your video with them. Anyway, this gives me a very different kind of project for the new year. Thank you for posting this video! Have a wonderful 2024 from Vermont USA! ❤️
@@BriefCaseOfficial will do on this video if anything turns up. Technically it would be my kids and grandkids who might be relalated. I was Benham by marriage. My husband was from birth..lol.
Another good posting 👍👍👍👍. What's funny a lot of people think they can get away with wrong doing to people, and at times do by Man's law, but God's law will and does catch up with them, either in life or eventually in death 😔🤨 Thanks again 👍😁😎🍻✌️👋
No. You need to rule out environmental sources for the chemicals. I shudder to think of the number of people who were hanged for murdering their families when the source of the poison was their green wallpaper. Look up “Scheele’s Green” sometime.
So do we know what really killed her? And what kind of STD did she have? A very strange case. I really enjoy the illustrations. Thanks for all your work and skills BC. Awesome
Ya know, its fun to say it along with you. When I know what youre going to say: " And the judge sentenced him/her to death." I guess its kinda morbid to do that, but its because you have such a great voice and its one of the trademarks of the channel. Along with the big boom thing. This is my favorite channel. Number 2 probably Well I Never, 3 That Chapter if I want some comedy in there, and This Is Monsters at 4. I hope you dont mind I did my own best of true crime list. Cheers man
I liked this one, although, its very sad all around. Usually, the guilty end up being hanged. I really thought the husdand was guilty. So I was very surprised when he was found to be innocent.
I am incapable of making up my mind about this case. The doctors were of no help at all. Was he a killer or not? Did he transmit a disease to her and was truly trying to help her? His innocence or guilt will forever remain a mystery and it matters not much in the end, he did not live long enough to fully enjoy the fruit of his bad deed if he was guilty. Good case Brief Case. Thank you!! (Just to let you know, you give the date of Florence's father's date as January 7 - I think you meant June 7?)
The one thing that makes me suspicious of the first verdict is that when someone was said to have died of a “brain fever” back in the day, that was usually describing death from syphilis. I don’t remember the exact name of the clinic where BC stated that he died at, but there were several hospitals/sanitariums that were really just places for rich people with syphilis to die in.
@@DneilB007uh, NO. Brain fever was a common diagnosis for innocent young girls and children. Interesting though- it may have also hinted at syphillis deaths but not "usually" (Some of my favorite authors had teen daughters die of brain fever)
Seems to have been easier to introduce new evidence in those days: the Innocence Project sometimes cannot reopen capital cases even with decisive evidence!
Wishing Brief Case, Brief Cat and all my fellow fans a very productive and peaceful 2024 full of happiness and good health!! (I missed last week due to my own health issues so extra wishes to all for not just good, but great health!!) 🙏🖤✌️

First off, she should have stayed home with her mother. Very gullible girl . I do wonder how he administer the poison. 😮. I also wanted to know what happened to the baby she gave birth to? Thank you Briefcase, love all your programs. Great work. God bless you
Thanks :)
Stayed home with her mother 😮a fate worse than death, lol
As always I love your work ❤
Thank you so much
You mean Karma did favor him. 😊. It was obvious he married her for her trust fund.
Thank you BC for a most interesting case.
Thanks for watching

behnam: i'd like to poison my neighbor's dog. will this do the job? mr elliot: it certainly will, that will be.... such was the 19th century
Thanks Stacy
Ahhhh, BC, i have missed you so much! Glad to see you pop up again. ❤❤❤❤❤ from Douglas Georgia, USA.😊
Hi Shiela, I am here every Monday
Yes, followed you forever, but due to my mother's death I moved to help take care of my step-dad. I haven't had you pop up on my recommendations in probably a year and half now, I think I'm still subscribed.
Sorry to hear about your loss Sheila, I know what its like to lose a parent. I hope you and your Step-Dad are OK. If you press the notification button you should receive a reminder every time I upload.
Oops! I'm late watching this one. Brief Case, you do have some spectacular videos that do have tragic ends. 😥 Thank you for your continued excellent content. 💯💯
Glad you made it Matto, hope all is good with you
@@BriefCaseOfficial Thank you, Brief Case. I'm feeling great, very rested and relaxed. I wanted to watch to this sooner, but I'm late.
Another interesting case Into the past thanks again
Thanks for listening
Thanks briefy
That's very interesting, be great to know if you are related
@@BriefCaseOfficial will do on this video if anything turns up. Technically it would be my kids and grandkids who might be relalated. I was Benham by marriage. My husband was from birth..lol.
Another great case, thank you.
Thanks :)
Thank you, BC!
Thanks for watching
The photos and drawings you chose for this story are even better than usual, B.C.!
Thankyou :)
Always good watching this channel 😊
Happy to hear that!
Hi guys.
Aren't you glad you have the experts to sort things out? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🙀
Another great case, thank you BC.
Much appreciated
very expressive courtroom photographs this time around
Divine Justice made itself felt he didn't enjoy any thing and followed his victim into Eternity God and sad story and Happy New to you and yours
Another good posting 👍👍👍👍.
What's funny a lot of people think they can get away with wrong doing to people, and at times do by Man's law, but God's law will and does catch up with them, either in life or eventually in death 😔🤨
Thanks again 👍😁😎🍻✌️👋
If any poison was found in her system then there's only one conclusion that you can come to for that
Exactly, it's that simple!!!🙏😢⚖️🤔❣️
Poison may not have been discovered in her body at all people lie all the time.
That was my exact thought!🤷♀️ If it was found in her liver (or any other organ) that's proof enough.
No. You need to rule out environmental sources for the chemicals. I shudder to think of the number of people who were hanged for murdering their families when the source of the poison was their green wallpaper. Look up “Scheele’s Green” sometime.
Hi BC better late than never. Great story .
Thanks
So do we know what really killed her? And what kind of STD did she have? A very strange case. I really enjoy the illustrations. Thanks for all your work and skills BC. Awesome
Thanks David
Ya know, its fun to say it along with you. When I know what youre going to say:
" And the judge sentenced him/her to death." I guess its kinda morbid to do that, but its because you have such a great voice and its one of the trademarks of the channel.
Remember OJ?
There is no such thing as being found innocent in American courts. Guilty or not guilty are the only possible verdicts
@@robertmoffett3486Good point
When a healthy heiress passes, there seem to be always strong questions to follow 😢
Yes very poor from me, sorry :(
@@BriefCaseOfficialNot at all and definitely no need for you to be sorry.
I figured it out too, B.C. It was not a big deal 😊
@@DneilB007uh, NO. Brain fever was a common diagnosis for innocent young girls and children. Interesting though- it may have also hinted at syphillis deaths but not "usually" (Some of my favorite authors had teen daughters die of brain fever)
This is crazy this my neck of the woods! I live in Batavia ny!
I hope everything is good there
@@BriefCaseOfficial we just had a huge storm , like 3 feet of snow!!!
Stay safe
Seems to have been easier to introduce new evidence in those days: the Innocence Project sometimes cannot reopen capital cases even with decisive evidence!
Wishing Brief Case, Brief Cat and all my fellow fans a very productive and peaceful 2024 full of happiness and good health!!
(I missed last week due to my own health issues so extra wishes to all for not just good, but great health!!) 🙏🖤✌️
Thanks Laura, I hope you feel better soon
Thank you BC for this very interesting story
