That really WAS a chilling case, and all involved were so young... Also, despite the guilty verdict, the investigation seemed very sloppy. I mean, putting organs in a lead lined bucket which is often known to contain arsenic?? Also, the picture of Mr. Eldridge was quite telling. Acting "noble" while being a "nobody"... I wonder if his parents were present for his trial. And then to die in prison at age 21 from Tuberculosis.... I think he was very disturbed indeed.

    Good morning Mr. Brief Case,
Sarah had lost so much by such a young age. It was good to know that she had family looking out for her well-being.
this case was a little baffling because you had Edward, who claimed some money was coming then the next day Sarah gets sick, which does look a little suspicious. You find one doctor that doesn’t find any arsenic in her system but she’s eight weeks pregnant. you then have another Doctor that says that there was arsenic, and her organs show up contaminated. All of a sudden he’s found guilty and sentenced to die. So much has happened in this case in such little time that makes me wonder. if anyone had suspicion, why did they leave him alone to give her medicine? Edward is sent to prison and then dies two days later. this is one of the more baffling yet intriguing case that you’ve had. Thank you so much because now I’m going to discuss this with friends later and that’s what I usually do my friends when I get together and we discuss your stories. have a wonderful week and looking forward to next Monday
    Blessings 🙏🏽

It all depends who made the allegations. If the claims had been made by a defense witness that none of the jurors found at all believable, they still would've found him guilty. Likewise, if the claims had just been thrown out there by the defense atty in his opening or closing (which is never considered evidence) and no witness was ever produced to try and substantiate these claims, the jury also would've found him guilty.

Having had serious doubts over his character, might have been wise for Sarah's uncle Mr. Britton (?) to have travelled to see Mr. Eldredge's family for himself and get to the truth of the situation regarding the inheritance.

The motive is dubious. I'm not sure he even knew she was pregnant. I'm fascinated by the ground breaking forensics from this time. Good court drama. And then he died of tuberculosis before his case is finalized. God's cliffhanger? You know I love the illustrations. Thanks BC

Good morning Brief Case. I live in extreme upstate New York and beautiful St. Lawrence County neighbors mine. It is the largest county in the state and more than twice the size of the state of Rhode Island.

This was a very intriguing and yet sad case. Sarah endured a lot of losses in her young life death of her parents and widowed all by the age of nineteen. It's comforting that she had her sisters, brother, aunt and uncle to at least love and care about her. I believe her despicable boyfriend murdered her and I'm thrilled he received the death penalty, period! Great investigation and presentation, as always.

It is so strange to hear about a case that took place in places I know so well.

I so love you BC. What a case. If he wouldn’t have tried to find “ greener grass” none of this would have happened.

I am curious what her sister , who was being charmed by the culprit, believed . Before and after court.
