The response to "pity the guardsman" is by far, my absolute favorite piece of fiction. It's why I love the guard so. A mere mortal, holding the line against the horrors of an uncaring, vicious universe.
There are none more pitiable than those who subscribe to Chaos IMHO, completely and utterly less than Human fools who delusionally think themselves more.
Pity not the Guard, they need it not. For they are the greatest among mankind. For he doesn't rely on modifications to his being, not on gods, he stands only on his hope, his faith, his gun, and his brothers to beat back chaos, the alien, and the traitors. Pity not the Guardsman, for they fight in true purity.
@devinjohnson246 And they still have the Superballs to ask them what their excuse is for not having conquered Terra yet. A mere mortal--A sack of mere flesh holding back an unstoppable force.
@@MrJordwalkor people who suffer as slaves, damned to the immsterium after they die anyways. The imperium is pitiable most of all, the cause of all of its own problems, with the potential solutions impossible to reach.
The Guilliman and Dante one legitimately had me close to tears, then the Dante and Sanguinius one opened the floodgates. Dante is such a Shakespearean tragedy of a character, you can't not feel sorry for him, all he wants is to die an honourable death so his soul may fly free with his Primarch and father, so that he may find his much-deserved eternal rest in the glory and warmth of the Emperor's light.
As embarrassing as it might be to point out, I actually love that in some of the passionate scenes you can actually see spittle fly from his mouth as he yells the lines. It really shows that he's putting his whole heart and soul into each of the lines and filling them with the intense emotion they deserve.
Sanguinius is and will always will be the emperors best son. And Dante will and always will be Sanguinis greatest son. Father, grandfather, son. They are the same blood. Dante is a True son of the Emperor.

The best part of the speech is he's lying to himself. He never cared about the truth, he just wanted an excuse for his actions. A reason to wake up in the morning and have everything he do be justified because he did it in someone else's name.
31:20 this is truly one of the greatest dialogues between a “father” and a “son”, and you really managed to highlight the raw pain of the two, one who can't die, because he still has his duty but wants it all to end, and a father who has to watch his son suffer longer at cause of the horrors of the universe. .and he can do nothing but tell his son to endure and LIVE!

I have to concur with these choices although if I might offer a few more suggestions I would love some of the Khan's speeches such as the one to Mortarion about which of them was truly unbreakable, the one where he explains his purpose to Dorn is to defend humanity or the speech where he declines to join Mortarion on Prospero. Grimaldus shaming a titan back to life is also a good one. In terms of shorter one-liners I would enjoy some of the moments from the Infinite and the Divine such as the speech about C'tan being gods ending with "lucky for us, we kill gods". They had been born into this dark millennium, and had known nothing but the hardship, suffering and despair of unending conflict. Yet still they struggled on unbowed, despite the countless enemies ranged against them. Guilliman had seen a better age, one of hope and triumph. What right had he, a superhuman son of the Emperor himself, to show any less strength and courage than his followers born in darkness? Guilliman had seen what Humanity could achieve. Moreover, he knew what fruits Cawl’s labours had borne beneath the surface of Mars. He believed that a better future for the Imperium was still possible. But only if those who tormented Mankind were first defeated. ‘All of this misery,’ said Guilliman. ‘All of this suffering and pain. It is not the doing of Humanity, but of those who have betrayed us. Inspired by it, the Primarch took his pain, and his desolation, and locked them away deep within his mind. But his rage he kept. That, he would have use for. Later there would be time to mourn, to reason, to plan anew. Now was the time to fight, and to make his father’s enemies pay for every horror they had inflicted upon the Imperium."'
It's a magnificent performance, I take my hat off to it and I have a perferance for the mortarion extract, especially the version of his speech where he speaks to Guiliman with affection, it was so good that I shed a tear.
It actually feels like someone pleading with their brother to see reason and join the right side, even though Mortarion can't see just how low he's fallen
I love how he redid it with the vocoder effect… how he believes he sounds… Versus how he actually does… He wants to sound caring He wants to love his brother But… His mind is so far gone he no longer truly knows what he is
The Angron/Guillimen conversion was amazing. You captured Angron perfectly. I really feel his plight in your vocalization and definitely think he won that argument lol
Excellent! Particularly your Lorgar. He is one of the most complex and challenging figures in 40k, but the depths of his character are rarely captured by voice actors. Great to see Dembski-Bowden's writing done justice. The 3rd reading of 'all I ever wanted' nails it for me, superb.
The speech as Horus gives me chills. I keep listening to it. Also Sanguinius at the Eternity gate. You are a talented VA and I look forward to buying whatever book you worked on.
@@NaturallyRPVoiceover Just wanted to come back and say I just bought Vainglorius on Audible. I ADORE the Cain series and can't wait to hear your part. Easiest buy I've ever made.
This gives me hope for any future TV and movie adaptations. Producers need to realise that the wealth of material that 40k constitutes isnt just mindless spectical, there are deeply relatable human characters and emotional drama that tie everything together. Think David Fincher or Ridely Scott, not Micheal Bay or JJ Abrams. What is going to be a breath of fresh air for audiences is that this are the drama of siblings, of brothers, of soldiers and leaders, of the pious and the profrane. Nailing the depth and emotional resonance of this universe will be critical in any adaptations success. A viewing public bloated on vapid superheroes is hungry for something more genuine, more failible and more human
@@NaturallyRPVoiceover what would be your preferred pick for the upcoming Amazon show? Starting with the Horus Heresy is clearly too ambitious for a first project. Maybe Eisenhorn? Gaunts Ghosts? Or something else, maybe something completely new? In an ideal world I'd love to see Legion by Dan Abnett adapted, a perfect mix of baseline human and marine characters, beautifully written. Maybe one day!
If there is ever a 40k show/movie/ect., this is the way it should be. Not just a bunch of easter eggs and cameos, but with a true story and characters. With speeches and quotes that will last forever.
I teared up a little more than I expected at more than a few of these speeches, but especially the one between Dante and Sanguinius. The feeling was similar to what I felt when Jaghatai Khan encountered the soul fragment of Magnus. It was sometime either before or after he encountered Mortarion. Thank you very much for giving me the fuel to feel that way again.
Holy shit, that was absolutely beautiful. This just came up in my recommendations, and I hit play not knowing what to expect. I was blown away! I'll be honest, tears came to my eyes. After a few of your readings, I saw that the video was over and hour and a half long and I couldn't believe it. Simply amazing. Thanks man, this made my day.
I feel like the two versions of mortarions speech you do are so perfect, the first is how he hears himself, the loving and caring brother. The second is guilliman's viewpoint, the spite filled and hateful traitor brother.
my favorite dialogue is from Pity the Guardsmen. my favorite deliverance of lines is everything, but my most favorite is the one of Sangunius EoE. Also, the dialogue of Sangunius and Dante would have been my favorite but it was delivered so well it actually saddens me.
These where amazing to listen to. I especially love listening to the Primarchs speeches and especially the ones where you did a couple of takes with different inflections. Mortarion specifically talking about the garden as if desperately trying to show Robute the beauty he sees was captivating. The Angel speech was incredibly inspiring to hear his doubts and fears but also that it was his humanity that made him stay not his Primarch side. If your still looking for suggestions for part 2 I would suggest Horus comforting Loken after the Whisperheads in the first book and anything said by Sevatar ever.
In my honest opinion, your Horus at the beginning was absolutely spot on. Every emotive, every breath and half-hearted chuckle. The building frustration and the resignation. It was so good! But alot of these other ones, I feel, were made much worse by that filter which robot-ified your voice. You sound much better when there isn't a computer distorting ya!
Glad this was made and already hit some of the all time quotes. Bias showing, I do hope he does Dorn centered moments; him and Fulgrim exchange words during the Heresy, very good moment!
the background music combined with the wonderful acting for Mortarion was magnificent. It actually made me really understand the beauty a nurgle worshipper feels. A bit like in Farcry 5 when drugged by 'Faith'. 11/10

Later there would be time to mourn, to reason, to plan anew. Now was the time to fight, and to make his father’s enemies pay for every horror they had inflicted upon the Imperium."'
One for the future - thanks!
Your Dante and Sanguinius speech always breaks me 😢 the emotion in your voice is just so raw
It's a magnificent performance, I take my hat off to it and I have a perferance for the mortarion extract, especially the version of his speech where he speaks to Guiliman with affection, it was so good that I shed a tear.
It's a much more interesting dynamic to me if it comes from a place of conviction and concern. Thank you!
@@NaturallyRPVoiceoverit was excellent, you really capture the charisma and conviction each primarch has especially the first version of mortarion!
It actually feels like someone pleading with their brother to see reason and join the right side, even though Mortarion can't see just how low he's fallen
I love how he redid it with the vocoder effect… how he believes he sounds…
Versus how he actually does…
He wants to sound caring
He wants to love his brother
But…
His mind is so far gone he no longer truly knows what he is
These make me so much more sympathetic to each the traitors they have such great speeches
The Angron/Guillimen conversion was amazing. You captured Angron perfectly. I really feel his plight in your vocalization and definitely think he won that argument lol
Space Jumanji, the Lion grew up in Space Jumanji
@@Banthisyoutube The difference to me, is the fact that angron has machines that torture him day and night, shredding his mind.
these are insane. i was thinking theres no way a human can sound like Sanguinius but holy shit
Excellent! Particularly your Lorgar. He is one of the most complex and challenging figures in 40k, but the depths of his character are rarely captured by voice actors. Great to see Dembski-Bowden's writing done justice. The 3rd reading of 'all I ever wanted' nails it for me, superb.
That echoes of eternity bit just hits different
When I got to Dante & Sanguinius, I can’t say I was expecting what I heard. The pure raw emotions I felt I can’t even describe! Just wow.
I LOVE the Night Lords trilogy, and your tone and pacing for Talos' speech there was perfection. The hairs on my arms were standing up by the end
The speech as Horus gives me chills. I keep listening to it. Also Sanguinius at the Eternity gate. You are a talented VA and I look forward to buying whatever book you worked on.
Thanks very much Jordan - greatly appreciated!
@@NaturallyRPVoiceover Just wanted to come back and say I just bought Vainglorius on Audible. I ADORE the Cain series and can't wait to hear your part. Easiest buy I've ever made.
@@jordancarr3262 that's very kind. I's a very small cameo but a great listen. Hope you enjoy!
the sanguinius and dante video actually makes me emotional. its such a perfect portrayal of how fractured dante is
Personally , you really captured the emotion in all of these speaches, especially with Dante and Sang/ Konrad and Big E
Thanks!
Can only agree - some of the characters in Warhammer are amazing and amazingly written
My total pleasure - thanks for the support
"I am not the shepherd humanity seeks"
Not only is it such a well written line, your delivery makes it haunting
Have to admit, I shed a tear at the sanguinius and Dante part, you really bring this characters to life man, can't wait to see more of you
I feel like the two versions of mortarions speech you do are so perfect, the first is how he hears himself, the loving and caring brother. The second is guilliman's viewpoint, the spite filled and hateful traitor brother.
The nice version of the Godblight speech has me about to lick a doorknob to meet the grand father
Remember: Licking doorknobs is illegal on other planets.
Damn. Angron sounds a lot more sane than I imagined he would be...
dante and sanguinius gave me chills
It's an epic exchange
The rylanor part " I REJECT YOU NOW AND ALWAYS" best speech
"Get. Up".
Best. Dialogue. Ever.
my favorite dialogue is from Pity the Guardsmen. my favorite deliverance of lines is everything, but my most favorite is the one of Sangunius EoE.
If you can send me any recommendations as I don't have those books, it would be great!
Bruh that Logar the first heretic had me speechless absolutely amazing acting from you good sir you have my subscription 🫡
This was incredible. You narrations of Lorgar really made me want to read The First Heretic
I'd fully recommend it - great great book
Dante & Sangunius really touch my heart! Great acting mate !
Yep, it divides opinion - some love it some hate it. I'll likely do both versions with more speeches
I like it, while yes it distorts his voice, but it does put you more into the mindspace of the scenario he portrays, for me at least.
Feels like it's coming through the vox
@@piers42haha tht makes it sound so dope tbh
Glad this was made and already hit some of the all time quotes.
Bias showing, I do hope he does Dorn centered moments; him and Fulgrim exchange words during the Heresy, very good moment!
All suggestions welcome at tiktokspeeches@gmail.com
4 minutes in and your reading of Horus was simply perfect.
Thank you - it's a great speech
the background music combined with the wonderful acting for Mortarion was magnificent. It actually made me really understand the beauty a nurgle worshipper feels. A bit like in Farcry 5 when drugged by 'Faith'. 11/10
Honestly, the Kurze/"Emperor" conversation really takes the cake for me. You captured Konrad's insanity perfectly. :/
Haha - thanks! I think
I clicked this video on a total whim, 20 minutes later in and I feel like I just stumbled on a pot of gold.
82k subs, for this talent, is vastly underrated.
Thanks so much for watching! Appreciate it 🙏
Man, guilliman is like the paladin of the empire. A true ruler to succeed his father.
Dante : " PLEASE LET ME REST PLEASE DAMN YOU DAMN YOU LET ME REST !!!!! I WANT TOT GO TO BED IT'S 12:00AM AND I HAVE TO GET UP FOR WORK LET ME REST !!!!!! "
Sanguinius: " i am sorry but i need you to do your chores "
Every time you do a speech for the blood angels I almost tear up, I genuinely listen to your covers when I feel as if I am not enough, your covers give me strength. And from one warhammer fan to another, thank you
Man, i heard "Pity the Guardsmen" on another video and ive been hunting down the VA that did it ever since
Youre amazing man
Spent a good while listening to your WH speeches after Valrak covered your work on his stream, You are truly gifted and look forward to seeing more of your work!
Greatly appreciate the support!
The Defenders of Helsreach legitimately got me hyped up.
Absolutely amazing job !
I have 2 quotes that come in my mind that I think would be awesome:
- Nathaniel Garro ordering Malcador to give him a mission at the end of "The Flight of the Eisenstein"
- "The line" speech of Pontius from the Maleus Novel
Can't wait to hear more of your work, keep going !
Thanks - if it's at all possible to send me pictures or links to those speeches, I'd take a look!
+1 for some Eisenstein bits. The book Execution Hour has some bits that i think you could do well too. and The Damnation of Pythos has some good bits .
That Horus was beautiful. I was totally pulled in and even got goosebumps. They were all awesome, make no mistake, but Horus was perfection.
That fan dialogue Guilliman/Emperor was great and I loved the last sentence of it.
I can't stop listening to this. I have been doing it most of the day. Send help!
@@JohnDoe-pc1qfahhhh I see you an I are cut from. The same cloth. Ten times ten thousand times shall I listen!!
I would like to thank you for doing such an amazing work on some of my favorite WH40k speeches for all time. I would like to make some suggestions for Part 2: 1.) Perturabo's Conversation with Calliphone (Perturabo: The Hammer of Olympia), 2.) Dante's Dream of his Mortal Father (Devastation of Baal), 3.) Huron-Fal and Ullis Temeter (Istvaan III Book), 4.) Talos' "I wanted to be a Hero" (Night Lords Omnibus), 5 & 6.) Curze and Sanguinius' Conversation in the Throne Room of Imperium Secundus & Dantioch and Pollux's Last Conversation (Pharos).
Thanks for the great and thoughtful recommendations! As I don't have ALL the books (only about a dozen), it would be great if you could email me any of these extracts to tiktokspeeches@gmail.com if you ever have the time. It just makes it much more feasible for me to actually get hold and record this great material!
@@NaturallyRPVoiceover Thank you for your response. It saddens me to say that I listen to audiobooks, since it's slightly more cheaper option to buying the books and having to ship to where I live.
Your impression of Dante should have been in the devastation of Baal Can't wait to hear that audiobook 😮🔥🔥💯
Lokhir Fellheart is the Emperor of Mankind? A plot twist I never saw coming.
Please, we need you in the vengeful spirit. Your voice need to be in the horus and the emperor's last stand.
😆Wouldn't say no!
Grimaldus’s speech was perfectly portrayed here more so than in Boyand’s movie!! Bravo !
I really liked the two versions of Mortarion's speech.
Edit: All of the speeches you did with different emotions were amazing. Each made me feel exactly how it should, despite hearing it different even a moment before.
that speech from grimaldus was awesome, it's an unusual kind of speech and I love how the point of the speech isn't just to highlight the courage and strength of the defenders but utterly humiliate the enemies, making them sound like rabid dogs against the immense strenght of the imperium. your voiceover really showed this side of the speech, thanks fo this collection of wonderful speeches!
3:30 And this is where you had me hooked. Excellent work Brother Chris, consider me a heavily invested fan now.
Thanks very much!
The Salamanders speech had me ready to jump up and wield a heavy flamer for the Imperium of Man. Incredible.
Wow! A whole hour of speeches bringing me to tears, I hope you're proud of your excellent delivery 👌
Thank you - all about practise and working with great writing!
I think this is the best showcasing of the writing and drama of 40k. Stellar work.
This is amazing and you a great talent good sir. The Dante parts gave me goosebumps.
It's a personal favourite of mine - Dante is a fascinating character
I love these. I come back again and again. My favorite is the different takes on Lorgars “all I ever wanted was the truth”. It just shows how many ways it can be interpreted and I love how different it was in my head when I first read it years ago. Kudos
Ooh that’s part two! Watch that and you’ll also get an Ghazkull that’s, in my opinion, better than the black library audio book.
Nope, wrong again. You’ll find it though, because you want the truth. Don’t you?
Damn, that last Lorgar bit made me tear up, which just goes to show how much difference the correct intonation can make, I just hope you get a lot of audiobooks to cover great voice and great acting along, Gork and Mork approve :P
Purely how well you did the sanguinius eternity gate speech i will get a tattoo of "will you run?" that performance was absolutely amazing .
