Peak fiction, you can feel the bittersweet tragedy through Jaghatai's thoughts when he realizes Mortarion is lost despite also realizing how for the first time since their meeting how strong they would be fighting together how unstoppable they would be
@@DeerBoy736 Cunning, freedom loving, proud. There's a scene early on in Scars where they have to break out of an Alpha Legion blockade, and it's one of the best naval scenes so far and I couldn't stop smiling at how brilliant their solution was. A lot of the legion of the first book is divided. Old Terrans and Chogorians, Pro-Horus and neutral. The warrior lodge was pretty big in the Vth. In Pathway of Heaven it turns out the Scars were spending at least half the Heresy destroying the Warmaster's logistical routes. Until Horus got tired and ordered someone to take care of it. As for the Khan himself? He's pretty stoic. He likes unity but not absolute conformity, he believes freedom should be the goal for humanity. He's also willing to listen to others but he does not suffer any insult to him, his passions, or his legion. He roasted Fulgrim to the point of nearly starting a fight on Ullanor, but the Angel was there to break it up. He also gives some damn good speeches before a fight near the end of Pathway of Heaven
@@Kristian.B.Kristiansenyeah I really don’t think you can call them underrated in 2024 but I was literally saying to my friend yesterday the word underrated has either changed or lost meaning in RUclips comments. I saw someone call goodfellas underrated the other day 😂
@Kristian.B.Kristiansen It's not even overhyped, they're appreciated just as much as it should be,but it's mentioned so often it comes off as overhyped.
Was anyone else surprised that Mortarion was described as being "broader" and the Khan was described as being "taller"? I've always pictured it to be the exact opposite.
I knew Mortarion was a large Primarch… But I too kinda thought of him like Konrad.. very long and lean.. Maybe not quite as lean and wiry as Curze.. but a similar build.. I also remember the Kahn and Leman being described as the same way… The Kahn just slightly taller than Leman.. but Leman being much bulkier and heavier muscled..
lol, I don’t know why it’s so funny to me that Mortarion had his collection of gross vials here even before he was transformed, and that BOTH of them were coughing when they were broken in this fight. I so badly wanted Jaghatai to be like “Wtf what is that, why are you carrying this gross shit around on you all the time in fragile containers?!”
Stellar. Khan actually just destroys Mortarion here logically. Saying that he is surrounded by what he hates most and that what he is doing basically doesn’t make sense. That his vendetta against the emperor has corrupted everything else he stood for. Khan is the goat
@@tincano-beans2114uhhh Sanginius and Baal, Leman and Fenris, Lion and Caliban, Ferrus and Medusa lol Really only guilliman had a good planet to grow up on.
Honestly the Khan was just being an ass on Ulannor. The “strange things” Fulgrim did to his warriors at that point was basically just genetic treatments for cancers caused by the Luna sabotage.
@@DeusExMachina10001 really i I thought they were rumours in the middle of the crusade about their experiments I need to research more. Thank you for putting that out
@@danboom2307 Fabius started the experiments on his own near the time of the Laer campaign from what I remember. He was the last of the Emperor's Children that were made with the pre-Fulgrim geneseed; all the others at that point had either died in battle or succumbed to various genetic maladies. That was in fact the reason why Fabius started his experiments in the first place; he wanted to try to save his brothers and never managed to find a permanent solution. Fulgrim didn't find out about the "enhancements" until after that campaign was over (and after finding the Laer blade). He initially considered tampering with the Emperor's "perfect work" (the Astartes) to be borderline heretical until Fabius justified it by telling him that, if the experiments succeeded, the Emperor would be super proud of Fulgrim and if they didn't, then it wouldn't make a difference either way. Since Fulgrim was already somewhat under the influence of the Laer blade, he gave his official sanction.
Honestly I think if mortarion wasn't so petty he could've had a great relationship with most of his brothers and really he is one of the traitor primarch who fell by their own fault and not of the emperors .

Stinky king vs roast god.
I think they call him olfactory challenged nowadays.
He wasn't yet stinky . More like a stingy sensation like chemical warfare .

Chris Wraight did an amazing job with Jaghatai and his sons. He made the Khan into one of my favorites.
Never enough of the White Scars
How did he write them? White Scars and Jaghatai are among my top favourites but I didn't get the chance of read a book about them yet.

The khan is such a chad, easily the most underrated primarch
Underrated even in-universe lmao. I love Jaghatai. The dude is such a cool cat.
Him and Perturabo certainly use to be that. Now they are so beloved as to be overhyped.

Nah, Mortarion is a absolute unit. Straight up tank of a Primarch.
The Khan is taller but much more lean for that neeeeeeeed for speeeeeeeed.

Not surprised at all the Khan is known for speed and Morty is known for being relentless
I always thought of it like Morty is long and wide like a malnourished Heavyweight boxer and the Khan just looks like a muscular runway model
Aye, mortarion had often been described as skin and bones.
Fun fact, the narrator also voices Straban (the heavy gunner) in Space Marine 2.

With every sentwnce Jagathqi makes i love him more
Awesome. That was extremely well-written, in my opinion.

Thanks for posting this. It is a great moment.
I’ll be honest I was kind of hoping for just screaming and the sounds of fighting for 35 minutes.
