With this last house I purchased I would pick 4 to 6 of my favorite paint colors and I would give my husband the final choice on two. I would find the top three rugs I liked and I would have him have a final choice. I did this for every piece of furniture. I would find my top 3 to 5 things all very different but what would would for our design and lifestyle and size and he would have the final choice. So “technically,” my husband picked everything in our house.

23:28 yeah, no. Most people don’t eat out. They wash dishes in another sink or bathtub, or use disposable dishes. Eating out every day is just not realistic for most people. They set up a temporary kitchen in their living room or garage and get on with life. Then you look back and laugh over “remember when … “. I’ve been both the child and parent in this scenario. You make it an adventure and just do it! People can barely afford groceries these days, let alone eating out.

The design dilemmas are so good. I love that you offer just a few very impactful changes that can get the person a great place to start in order to find their own style and vibe they want for the room. That tiny living room/kitchen/dining/entry space would particularly benefit from the suggestions you made.
I think small spaces give a unique challenge, but they can also look very cute when designed well with lots of problem solving.

I can’t imagine lighting ever being a bad investment. As we get older, our eyesight will inevitably get worse. It makes a lot of sense. I appreciate your decision to have a table in your kitchen. I don’t think the majority of us use formal dining rooms.

Go get yourselves one of those outdoor griddles and cook on that! You’ll love it! I live in Georgia and we have a grill with the side stove for hurricanes. We lose power all the time. We use that so often like a stove.

I enjoyed all of your podcast episodes, to be honest, the talkative as well as these. But I do agree that the episodes in the second season feel structured and more purposeful, and I can imagine that despite the behind the scenes leg work in advance, it helps to have more of a structure rather than to have to rely on an overall theme and wherever it might take you. In a way it does make it more purposeful! But I think that all of them are helpful in their own way.

We did a major renovation to our home 3 years ago. So your podcast definitely resonated with me. The renovation was slated to be finished at most 3 months. In the middle of the renovation we all got covid and dealt with a hurricane (I live in Florida). They still finished 2 weeks early so I was elated to say the least. Tired of the noise, tired of the dust and tired of eating out! In the end the process was well worth it, especially when I walk through my beautiful kitchen! Your insights are always good! I can't wait to see your finished kitchen. ❤

Julie's room. Shift sofa off wall and add some lift up storage for the kiddies toys. Adding decor to it when not used. On wall with 4 pics... Add a huge mirror. Yes banquet seating with storage under. Some wallpaper on TV wall and incorporate a colour out of wallpaper onto walls.

I love your podcast so much! I watch it on RUclips, and if I need a podcast to listen to while I do something I go to episodes I’ve already watched so I don’t miss out on seeing anything.
Something that has helped me when I comes to picking what to eat when eating out (especially when I’m eating with other people who are go with the flow, or are indecisive) is an app I use that has wheels on it you can spin. I created a wheel for fast food and another one for sit down/call in.
Well pick one of the 2 categories, and I’ll spin the wheel 3 times and try to pick from one of those 3. Sometimes I’ve spun 3 from each group and we have picked from there. It makes it easy, less stressful, and kinda fun.

I am you and Romeo morphed. I like character, but not too cluttered and intentional. And I genuinely can’t deal with anything on the counter tops, it stresses me out. Plus it’s easier to clean after you cook without things on the countertop

Thinking about the one that could use a banquette. How about you run it all the way to the other side of the room up until that corner door. You only put cushions on the eating part of it and the rest functions as storage and media unit, with the TV above. The couch would be flipped and off the wall to create both a defined walkway and zone the living room

Here's the thing, I never like boxes, the idea that a super modern painting cannot go into an antique, quirky, somewhat feminine space galls me. Not saying I love modern art, it's rare I do, but I'm one of those people that if you really love something, you can make it work. Thankfully, I'm single, but my dad is my landlord and he's a pain! Me, I'm Hollywood Regency, Chinoiserie, Art Deco, with sprinkles of sleek, and organization. If I was in a relationship with a super contemporary guy, I'd give him a lot of the lighting, and cleaner drapes. I better get my color, trim, and smooth soft texture, plants, and furniture with clean lines with ornate detail.
I think you and Mr. Romeo compliment each other so well.

I was just wondering,Are you gonna get the curve on the door match the curve of the other door/passage way curves from the front living room to the inside formal living room ??? How will you complete it once the baby will come. I think getting it done while everything is still in the process will be one less thing to do.. all the very best for the baby. God bless always

It seems to me, a modern style is more about simplicity, not Eclectic, they’re opposite from each other.
Modern is Clean lines, not a lot of ornaments, or fancy moldings, it’s streamline with not a lot fuss, but purposeful, but can be cold.
Eclectic is homie, warm, and cozy, put your feet up, relax.

Your baby is right now listening to construction noise, so when he is born, he will find construction noise soothing. Friends of ours where renovating their home while pregnant and after birth, the child was most likely to fall asleep to the sound of a portable table saw. I am saying this so that you don't have to worry if the kitchen is still under reno after your child is born, it will be status quo to him. In fact, if the reno is complete, you might want to have a recording of reno noises to help him sleep.

  • @justatitle
    @justatitle 26 дней назад

First I want to present No disrespect is meant when I say this. But, Did anyone gasp when they seen all the stuffed animals all over the sofa in the last redesign? I did. It’s a nightmare, but it’s also reality when you have children and pets, especially cats.
I’d love to see more storage options for her child’s toys. Possibly storage under the banquet, that you were talking about?
I do know that with the banquet you wouldn’t be able to have ceiling to floor curtains, but she could *paint her ceiling the same color as her walls giving it an illusion of height* just use different paint finishes for ceiling, walls, and moldings.
As far as area rugs, jute comes to mind, a low pile, and very durable option could bring in the warmth she so desires.

I don't understand why you aren't BBQ'ing, at least some days. Do you really have to eat our EVERY day? And a suggestion: IF the baby comes before the work is finished, another factor you'll need to take into consideration is that you will both be additionally TIRED! You can't really prepare for this and it may contribute to some silly arguments, etc. My best suggestion is -- whether or not the work is finished -- to NAP whenever the baby sleeps. YOU ARE GOING TO NEED IT!!
