There is one more thing that you can do to improve the airflow: close up all those holes between the fans in front. A lot of air is simply looping around the edges of those fans.
That's why supporting GN on Patreon (even just like $1 a month) is important. You can bet at least some other channels wouldn't say half of this. Even when they are critical, they pad it with positives so the manufacturer doesn't get too pissed off. GN's reliance on the funding coming from us and not from the sponsorship deals is probably why they can even say this stuff.
joris yauw The $150 price tag did that. Most people here seem pseudo correct though, it was a brutally honest review with a positive spin he made himself. I think it looks better with the Mesh, but I prefer muted rgb as opposed to the amusement park look anyway. I really like the design of the case, just not the original materials. The plastic still bugs me, but I like the overall shape, especially compared to the Alien bug helmet case so many reviewers seem fond of.
@CoolerMaster should give you some credits for this mod! The case looks more functional with a meshed front! 10/10 of a fast but solid ghetto mod on the case!
They could probably make some mesh panels for people who have the case and sell them for cheap. I wish phanteks did that for enthoo evolve glass. I love the case but airflow isn't great. Though my panels are solid thick alluminum and only way to get them cut for airflow is laser cutting lol.
Other channels: Every thing is good, everything is fine, go buy it! Gamers Nexus: It sucks, and here's how we can improve it. < This is what tech channels supposed to be.
Exactly we need more people to start ripping companies for this crap. I'm glad GN isn't the only one doing it though. ruclips.net/video/TSwrDW3NsPw/видео.html
I can't believe no other channels failed to mention the insabe panel gaps with the TG side panel. I nearly bought this case, that would have made me return it.
For our uses, it'll only really be on there for initial testing -- but good point. I had considered a black silicone adhesive, but didn't want such a "permanent" setup. A black duct tape may have been best for something semi-removable, but also semi-permanent.
Definitely just a couple of them, but we figure they're younger and may not have been in a workshop before. We hope, anyway. But yes, a few people said we "copied" Linus by having a pegboard. I had a laugh with Luke about it when we visited recently!
AlanTwoRings you just discovered the tip of the iceberg. Little do you know, that none of the tech seen actually exists and everything you see is just advanced CIA holograms. Steve cutting himself was a false flag! WAKE UP SHEEPLE! [tinfoil crinkling sounds]
For the cost of a DMLS machine capable of printing aluminum, you could have the panels CNC machined at a professional prototyping shop...and then buy a house. There is that molten aluminum printer concept from Vader, but you'd have to do days worth of post process finishing and I'm not sold on the structural stability due to air intrusion and oxidation.
Some screen door mesh from your local hardware store could be a very cheap and easy fix. I'm thinking glue it on with some silicon rubber adhesive (or silicon-latex caulk). You'd have to hold it in place until the glue dries with some tape.
I can see a time where we all have 3d printers and something like a front panel would actually be "DLC" (where you have to pay for the file to be printed)
Tim well no, that statement is wrong. Anyone who said it had great thermals *just* because of the front fans is out of their mind. If you say that cooling is questionable but it looks good (Look at the s340, one of the highest selling cases but thermals are terrible) then yes, it's a solid review. Steve just went to the next level and found the answer everyone wanted
Brother Ares They sell near see through Mesh as well. It's used on screens, visible filters etc. it looks like it's made from thin fishing line, and is about $2 more per 3'x3' ($13) sheet at Home Depot (they'll cut whatever size you want obviously). $150 is expensive for the material, but it's not a crazy price for a designer case. The 1/3 of the case being made of $10 worth of plastic is certainly crazy though, and to assume water cooling in a "High Airflow" case with 2 x 200 fans in the front seems short-sighted at best.
Ghetto Mesh H500P. Great mod Steve and to me it looks better and actually improves the airflow. Great job. IMHO the case is still a little too pricey at $150 for the build quality. If they were to improve the side tempered glass mounting to be more flush and more sturdy, Make a good mesh front (They could easily make the front mesh match those side vents with the silver bars to make it sturdy with the mesh and make it match) Make the top acrylic smoke or charcoal in color and release the case for $100 to $125 I would buy it in a heartbeat. As it is currently $150 plus having to buy new panels or spend time modding my own would be better spent just buying a higher quality case from another vendor.
I must say it is really great to have Gamer Nexus doing stuff like this. I wanted to buy H500P when I first saw it, read few reviews online and everyone was like "beautifull and functional". Then you go here to Gamer Nexus and they aint afraid calling out how bad the airflow is. Thank you for all the work you pour into your content Gamer Nexus, you are legends.
Congrats on getting their attention & (potentially) creating a product Steve! Lot of effort into this one lol. BTW make sure they call it the "H500P - GNify edition"
Steve, love this kind of content, where not only do you call out any major flaws of a product, but actually attempt to fix it and test that fix. Also I think you copied Linus by having a cat, reviewing technolgy, having employees, doing hackjob diy projects, and having an unnamed camera man🙃.
this is a case review done right. step 1 make observations and report them. step 2 if the case has glaring problems fix them. step 3 revel in the glory of the fans loving the mod. keep up the great work and awesome job.
Figure I should post on this page that Cooler Master does now sell a mesh replacement front panel. You can get them for like $20 So these guys changed the market with this video. Awesome job guys!
This actually looks pretty good compared to stock and how long the mod took. Literally less than 5 minutes, few extra bucks, and the case subjectively maybe looses out on 5% of it's looks. Not bad GN! Thanks for the video.
I really like the original look, but i do also really love this "i'm annoyed by looks over function" style video. I'd actually like to see an entire playlist like this.
I have this case and thats even after reading all the reviews including Gamers Nexus...Found it easy to build in, lots of room inside for a clean build and subjectivly, it looks great for me. Temps wise with the front and top acrylic panels, it was never going to be the origonal HAF or even close to something like the Meshify but it does a solid job, especially with a 360 AIO on the top. I like the MOD GN has done and will probably try it on the front at some point.
once the mesh was added you can see why Cooler Master chose those acrylic fronts, they wanted the rgb fans to be viewable without any obstructions, only problem with this is that although the fans have an unobstructed view airflow was extremely obstructed, love the review and the work, good job.
LINUS HAD A RATCHETING SCREWDRIVER TOO! YOU KEEP STEALING STUFF FROM LINUS Also I'm not serious, just taking the piss out of people who think Linus invented tool pegboards
I really really really want to thank you for the videos on this case. I was so hyped for this thing, but now I'm glad I did not buy it, to replace my old case. Probably gonna go with something else, or with a future version of it (Cause I love the way those fans look and perform, theoratically).
I did exactly what he did almost, I also put a cross-section on the front to make it more rigid. Simple hot glue application. What a difference that made. Might be a good idea to buy the old design on the cheap and mod it, they can’t give these away since the new design came out. Nice Ingenuity. 👌
Wasnt going to buy the case but now I'm reconsidering and using stainless steel mesh instead of plastic, think itll look sick!!! and plus itll work! Awesome mod Steve!
i dont know if its the name they share but Gamersnexus and Hardwareunboxed for me have the best humor by far among their peers. Great content with smart and funny dudes.
Thanks for the follow-up! It's great to see the temperature improvements, but it's a shame that the panels are so low quality from the factory. The overall fit and finish of the case appears to be severely lacking at that price.
Dear Coolermaster, please manufacture the mesh version; it looks better than the plexi, and cools better. Steve: thank you for taking my idea and testing it.
It's interesting how some of the problems with the normal H500P aren't apparent on mine, so they obviously fixed it by 2020 when I got mine. My top panel has a screw to stop it sliding off, my front panel had another clip to hold it on, but i swapped it out for a mesh one from their website. The right side panel is metal not glass. It's actually an amazing case when those issues are fixed.
One of the key selling points of this case are those big ass fans. It looks better with glass but when the LEDs are on with mesh it still looks cool. This all is the reason cm seems to have asked every RUclips channel they gave one to, too make the thumbnail the way it is, with those big sexy fans showing. Apart from this it's basically like every other standard glass panel case. Nice mod do, good stuff! BTW I have a haf EVO xb and I love it!
This was absolutely hilarious! As much as I love the data intense videos, this was a welcomed contrast. Honestly that mod did not look *haf* bad ;). Interesting to see it perform better with the acrylic top, but the lack of static pressure explains it well.
I was about to buy this case because of the 200mm appeal. I'm glad I didn't watching this video. I'm not down with modding something this expensive, so I'll just go with the Meshify C which is better for much cheaper (on sale at time of comment). Thanks for all the great content!
Nice work, this is exactly what I was planning to do IF I get this case, great video, very useful to see it done beforehand. I won't be buying straight away so hopefully Cooler Master fix this or one of their competitors release a similar mesh-fronted case in the mean time. Cooler Master, despite its appeal this case is clearly overpriced but that would not have been so obvious if it wasn't for the poor execution of this design, you should offer a mesh conversion kit for free to those that want it and release the (mesh version) case that this one should have been. The ball is in your court and everyone is watching, you have an opportunity to be a stand out in what is currently a fairly dull market, the speed and completeness with which you comply to the community's criticisms will matter more than if you respond at all...Albeit fixing every criticism of this design will require more than just mesh but if you offer a mesh version, even if it is just on your website, it will satiate us armchair critics and will go a long way to secure more positive mind share. Don't worry about hurting the sales of the current (perspex front) incarnation of this case because it sells itself with its looks, the average consumer who walks into a store and sees this case set up isn't going to be thinking about airflow or a mesh version, they will be buying it for its looks, so the problem comes when they proudly show it off to one of us know it all elitist armchair critics and we say; (A) "that case sux" which directly hurts mind share with that customer and also hurts future sales when it is overheard by another potential customer ; or (B) "I like that case but I want the mesh version" which doesn't really hurt mind share because that customer purchased it for how it looks, and also doesn't hurt future sales when it is overheard by another potential customer because they will buy it for looks or just go and get the mesh version... In fact you should already have a "upcoming/TBD" mesh version on your website... OH AND FYI YOU CAN SHOVE RETAIL AFTERMARKET PANELS UP YOUR ASS!!!
I've got a CM 690III case that is pretty much equivalent to the GN meshified HAF case (except with a single 200mm intake rather than 2). Has great airflow, is built like a tank and is heavy af....kind of disappointing to see a manufacturer with that kind of potential go down this route (aesthetics>function, build quality). Great review Steve, loved how you've pulled no punches :) CM should go back to their roots.

Nice hack Steve looks good and cools better
its not possible to 3d print a spacer for the front?
hey whats the dimensions of the front filter?
This is exactly what I want to do if I get one :P
"…This bond doth give thee here no jot of blood;
The words expressly are ‘a pound of mesh.’"
A stage where every man must play a part, and mine a sad one.
Does that mean Steve is gonna go on a Shakespearean revenge quest?
Hey thats way classy. Someone call bitwit to balance this.
Huh???
This is no time for commenting Paul. We are in eager anticipation for artic panther (rawr)!
I think steve singlehandedly reduced coolermaster h500p sales by about 40%
That's why supporting GN on Patreon (even just like $1 a month) is important. You can bet at least some other channels wouldn't say half of this. Yes pretty much. Glad to support independent journalism.
That's the truth, jorus! Thanks to GN, I was able to cancel my order before it shipped!
And Bitwit is trying their best to sell it ...
Gamers Nexus' favorite part about this case is the amount of content they are getting out of it.
@CoolerMaster should give you some credits for this mod! The case looks more functional with a meshed front! 10/10 of a fast but solid ghetto mod on the case!
P J I think the mesh looks better too
I want some credit lol I commented on the original video that i planned to do this lol
The front looks pretty legit, just looking at that it's not even that ghetto. The top is a whole different story.
They could probably make some mesh panels for people who have the case and sell them for cheap.

Electrical tape tends to peel after a while. Aluminium foil tape is in my opinion a better solution. love the channel keep up the good work guys
For our uses, it'll only really be on there for initial testing -- but good point. I had considered a black silicone adhesive, but didn't want such a "permanent" setup. A black duct tape may have been best for something semi-removable, but also semi-permanent.
Pobb Roberts high end electrical tape won't peel
Hot glue
hot glue
cold glue
I love it that you show no mercy on this case.
But to be fair, you are right about it. :)
tecPlaysGames he shit in this case
"The bar is pretty low..." Damn Steve you savage
So good. I think cases are stupid at this point(yep mining rigs are the future lol) but watching Steve crush a review is so worth it.
8:59 The cameraman's stepaway XD definitely made my day
Mr_Spring_Roll That was brilliant. Gotta give Andrew credit.
Who is the camera man was he ever on camera
ikr
Cut toward your chum, not your thumb.
That front looks amazing, cooler master, look at it
Yeah it looks much better with the mesh IMO.
Looks classy and gives a nice effect
It only took you HAF an hour?
If you HAF that mesh.
Best comment
Holy crap how did people really give you shit for a pegboard?
Definitely just a couple of them, but we figure they're younger and may not have been in a workshop before. We hope, anyway. But yes, a few people said we "copied" Linus by having a pegboard. I had a laugh with Luke about it when we visited recently!

BIG CABAL OF REVIEWERS THAT GATHERS ANUALLY, CONFIRMED
AlanTwoRings you just discovered the tip of the iceberg. Little do you know, that none of the tech seen actually exists and everything you see is just advanced CIA holograms.
Steve cutting himself was a false flag! WAKE UP SHEEPLE!
[tinfoil crinkling sounds]
Sell mesh panels as DLC. i haven't had a laugh like that in a while!
They did that for the front panel...
these are some of the most interesting pc videos on youtube
Wow, why does Linus even have to work if he invented peg board? he must be loaded!
Bcuz he drppped it 😏
It even looks better. Waaaay better. Now you just has to throw away those plastic parts and CNC some new ones out of aluminium blocks.

I think the mesh looks a lot better than the cheap plastic. However I do like it better with the acrylic top than the mesh top.
DLC MESH!!!!! PAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
You´re my hero!!!
I can see a time where we all have 3d printers and something like a front panel would actually be "DLC" (where you have to pay for the file to be printed)
lmao
cooler master should just make a mesh mod default, and the clear shitty plastic optional
That tape was the most expensive bit of plastic on the whole case.. shoulda left it on!
Every case should have a mesh front.
Everyone who gave this case a good review is out of their mind.
Tim well no, that statement is wrong. Anyone who said it had great thermals *just* because of the front fans is out of their mind. If you say that cooling is questionable but it looks good (Look at the s340, one of the highest selling cases but thermals are terrible) then yes, it's a solid review. Steve just went to the next level and found the answer everyone wanted
its called "paid media" lol
Actually no, It's not wrong. The case is overpriced, and the build quality sucks.
Brother Ares They sell near see through Mesh as well. It's used on screens, visible filters etc. it looks like it's made from thin fishing line, and is about $2 more per 3'x3' ($13) sheet at Home Depot (they'll cut whatever size you want obviously).

Gareth Tucker this argument doesn't hold much water tbh. Even then average joe can understand flimsy build material and overpriced products.
Ghetto Mesh H500P. Great mod Steve and to me it looks better and actually improves the airflow. Great job. IMHO the case is still a little too pricey at $150 for the build quality. Instructions unclear, peripheral limb stuck in the 200mm fan.
F to pay respect
It's like you read my mind. When I was watching all the reviews I said they needed to meshify the front. Good work as always!
YES. Thats exactly what I wanted to do ever since I saw this case. Wish I had the time and money
GamersNexus I love you because of videos like this !
Congrats on getting their attention & (potentially) creating a product Steve! Lot of effort into this one lol.
BTW make sure they call it the "H500P - GNify edition"
Wow, it even looks way better! The plastic front you removed looks so incredible cheap with those fugly angles
Awesome job, Steve! This case now looks like how it should HAF been done in the beginning!
GamersNexus teaches case manufacturers how to build a case. You should start your own case company, lol.
I wish good performance was the only thing that was needed to have good products earn good sales...
Steve, love this kind of content, where not only do you call out any major flaws of a product, but actually attempt to fix it and test that fix.
Also I think you copied Linus by having a cat, reviewing technolgy, having employees, doing hackjob diy projects, and having an unnamed camera man🙃.
Love the no BS style of these videos thanks for always keeping it real Steve
I really enjoyed this video, made me laugh and it was fun to see the outcome. Hope for more stuff like this.
this is a case review done right. step 1 make observations and report them. step 2 if the case has glaring problems fix them. step 3 revel in the glory of the fans loving the mod. keep up the great work and awesome job.
Not bad. Not pretty, but not bad.
Front looked quite good though, like what CM should have done from start.
dude the front worked out nicely! I actually really like the way that looks.
I like it. I was a huge fan of the HAF cases. This is not only works better than the glass but it looks great too!
Figure I should post on this page that Cooler Master does now sell a mesh replacement front panel. You can get them for like $20 So these guys changed the market with this video. Awesome job guys!
Good job pointing out thermal potential with allowing more air flow mod, I was going to hack the case myself but waited for this video instead.
*OUT OF THE MOD THERMALS*
About 100 times better, even with the electrical tape
This actually looks pretty good compared to stock and how long the mod took. Literally less than 5 minutes, few extra bucks, and the case subjectively maybe looses out on 5% of it's looks.
Not bad GN! Thanks for the video.
This definitely seems like a case in need of a revision. I hope they do something like what you did in the video. It looks great. I'd buy that.
I really like the original look, but i do also really love this "i'm annoyed by looks over function" style video.
I'd actually like to see an entire playlist like this.
That front looks brilliant. it should have been built like that in the first place. Looks really good.
That front panel with the mesh. Spot on, looks great
CoolerMaster should just let GN design their cases lol.
Everyone should
well its a sick looking case but with cheap materials
we should have him team up with dmitri from hardwarecanucks aswell
looks better imo, you can still see the fans, and you've got great flow
You just made this case cool as f. seriously the mesh makes it look waaaaaay better, like a real HAF.
LINUS HAD A RATCHETING SCREWDRIVER TOO! YOU KEEP STEALING STUFF FROM LINUS
Also I'm not serious, just taking the piss out of people who think Linus invented tool pegboards
That front panel looks better than stock! Nice work Steve!
The mesh is perfect for it! CM should have released it with the mesh instead of the plastic. Great job Steve!
Saying that Linus "invented" pegboards is like saying Apple actually invented anything.
It's about preserving that street cred.
Certainly no pegboards were *ever* used for tools over the preceeding half/three quarters of a century or so.... :/
mdd1963 they used pegboard for tools at my school already 10 years ago, its nothing new.
Ten years ago grandchildren of people who used pegboards in their workshops were already adults.
Tesla.......uhhh, yeah, no kidding :)
I really really really want to thank you for the videos on this case.
I was so hyped for this thing, but now I'm glad I did not buy it, to replace my old case. Probably gonna go with something else, or with a future version of it (Cause I love the way those fans look and perform, theoratically).
Awesome job. I hope cooler master is watching. If they fix this case, I’ll buy it.
Being seeing your videos for a while now. You have earned a subscriber
Another glorious episode of Steve disassembling things.
I did exactly what he did almost, I also put a cross-section on the front to make it more rigid. Simple hot glue application. What a difference that made. Might be a good idea to buy the old design on the cheap and mod it, they can’t give these away since the new design came out. Nice Ingenuity. 👌
I love this channel,no bs, honistly the best case review for this case out there, your hair is getting long as hell bro.
This was fun! Excellent modding Steve!
Awesome video this is exactly what I would have done as well.
Wasnt going to buy the case but now I'm reconsidering and using stainless steel mesh instead of plastic, think itll look sick!!! and plus itll work!
Awesome mod Steve!
But seriously Cooler Master is taking notes lol. Making history Steve!
i dont know if its the name they share but Gamersnexus and Hardwareunboxed for me have the best humor by far among their peers. Great content with smart and funny dudes.
When I read the title I assumed you would use the mesh from the meshify c. That would look awesome.
Thanks for the follow-up! It's great to see the temperature improvements, but it's a shame that the panels are so low quality from the factory. The overall fit and finish of the case appears to be severely lacking at that price.
i almost bought this case but didnt because of the frontpanel. this mod + better mounting for the tempered glass is what i want !
Steve is the best! Speak the truth! Too many promotions online, glad to hear truth from you!
Dear Coolermaster, please manufacture the mesh version; it looks better than the plexi, and cools better. Steve: thank you for taking my idea and testing it.
You guys always do a fantastic job on your reviews

To be honest, you improved the looks a lot!

Omg thank you. I was looking at both of these cases but after seeing the haf500p review I was disappointed. Great job guys.
Tbh the front panel actually looks pretty good!
This was absolutely hilarious! As much as I love the data intense videos, this was a welcomed contrast. Honestly that mod did not look *haf* bad ;). Interesting to see it perform better with the acrylic top, but the lack of static pressure explains it well.
I love haf cases
*have a CM HAF 932*
They should remake the haf series
WOah that mesh can actually look really sexy! I mean.. The glass looks good, but that gives it a creepy look. Love it!
Wow, not only did the temps get a noticeable reduction, but I think this actually looks better than the stock configuration XD.
Looks so much better this way. We dont need cheap plexi at the front unless its a glass.
The front mesh mod actually looks awesome.
That meshed front looks really good, V2 was just invented of the case !
I was about to buy this case because of the 200mm appeal. I'm glad I didn't watching this video. I'm not down with modding something this expensive, so I'll just go with the Meshify C which is better for much cheaper (on sale at time of comment). Thanks for all the great content!

I am so glad I didn't wait for this case and was able to get a mastercase 5t for like 30 bucks more.
screen mesh for a screen door or even a mesh from a speaker cover would work. u can cut it to size too
wow i just realised that HAF stands for high air flow... learn something new every day! Thanks GN :D edit: demciflex make custom sized filters :D
CoolerMaster HAF H500-P Steve Edition! You know what? I’ve changed my mind. This version is cool as hell :p
The moment CM makes a mesh version of this case and improves build quality a bit, i'll buy one.
That mesh front panel looks so much better than the plastic.
Looks better, works better. Seems like a win win.
Case didn't break in half when modding. Are we sure this was really Steve? Maybe they replaced him with a robot.
You have to wonder why they did not go with what your mod did, ie mesh on front, and acrylic on top, as your testing showed, worked pretty well.
