As an NRB viewer, it's odd to not hear Ben called Daddy Ben
To all the NRB fans watching this: Imagine the chaos that Sully would bring to the stream games, he would be the perfect counter to Edd
I want to see sully, nikki and bejbo make up an ebil team together
That would be amazing
@@michaelj1534 add Carly to that list and we got a heck of a game
If you bring Sully, bring Dom along too! Imagine the mayhem🤣
Edd calling out the exact scenario Ben was unsure about the previous night and then both coming to the exact same conclusion without consulting each other was amazing
Actually no... Edd and Ben came to different conclusions about the death of an outsider, which is why Ben switched the death from recluse to the empath in night 2.
@@swizzelbc7840 That is not what they meant. The OP meant the monk protecting the fang gu edge case. They were pointing out how impressive it was that Edd came up with the exact scenario as a player, contrasted to Ben being confused while seeing it as the ST and having to work backwards to figure out the ruling. That was what was "amazing"; Edd coming up with it as a player with limited info and no monk claims, and it being consistent with Ben's ruling (since Ben successfully worked out the official ruling, but could have ruled it a different way making Edd's scenario invalidated in this game). I would have ruled both Fang Gu's are alive and no deaths in the night, which would have been "wrong" but ST's rule in the moment and that's the rule for that game. So it was impressive that Ben worked it out in the moment (noting chat was not helpful, since they were divided on it), and that Edd came up with it blind.
Edd is really fucking good at this game! Wow! He totally called the very very unlikely "Monk protecting Fang Gu" scenario that happened, which I doubt anyone else would have even thought of as a possibility.
Surely he was just watching the stream and cheated?
He so specifically described the edge-case that Ben himself had never had to consider. He instantly brought up without prompting that there could be a day 1 Vortex change to a Fang Gu who then gets protected by the Monk which nullifies its own demon ability when attacking an Outsider.
The odds of calling that (and only that), without saying anything that was inaccurate despite having bad information on day 1? I believe he was just cheating.
@@RenewedRS I don't think he did, his first call @ 1:20:37 was Vigor and Ben registers Blamp as a minion poisoning Tom. He then says later after the day's discussions @ 1:32:32 another niche world which is the monk protecting the FG which was the reality.
@@bguester Yeah I was naive back when I wrote that comment. Edd is a clocktower genius. The best player I've ever seen and I've watched probably 50 of his games at this point. This was the first of his games I'd ever seen. His ability to build worlds and juggle them in his head is second-to-none. I wish I could play a logic based game like him caus I'm basically just a social player.
@@RenewedRS oh I see. The first time I'd seen him play as well was this video. I didnt catch his Vigor world just the FG/ Monk world and was in disbelief he sussed that out on my initial viewing some time ago. I caught the Vigor world view this time round and thought it was worth bringing up. Edd's world building and more importantly his sorting of the various worlds is astounding. It's both a pleasure and a bit frightening to watch. Cheers!
@@RenewedRS As soon as I read your first comment I thought "this must be his first time seeing Edd play" lol I think everyone assumes that until they have to accept the man is the Sherlock of clocktower
Still waiting for the Carly V. Edd match! Make it happen!!!
Goku vs Superman
Gotta love seeing the NRB crew interact with other players. Changing up the groups always causes such fun because everyone is trying to figure out how everyone else plays the game while also trying to find the demon
The perfect crossover doesn't exis...
It’s interesting watching this and sorta seeing how professionals play as compared to the chaos in no roles barred
I'm so used to Witches just never getting a successful kill off that this game threw me for a loop. Feels like it caught the players off guard too. They were clearly expecting to have more time but the witch offing three whole townsfolk cut the game much shorter than they'd have liked.
Of course that didn't stop Edd from figuring it all out but it's Edd.
Man, being a storyteller is even scarier than I imagined.
Kevkev jumped the gun at the end by announcing he was evil because in a tie, the monk would have still been in play, potentially letting good survive another day and securing the win.
This was awesome to see. I may have watched all of the NRB BOTC videos and it was very interesting to see the different behaviours of the two groups play styles and what differences make them suspicious.
The evil team were lucky that Carley had to pull out, being up against her and Ed was a tall order.
Very interesting seeing the game from another perspective, and finally seeing a Vortox game! Hope Carly was OK & her no-show wasn't something serious.
Adam NYC knowing by self nom of being a drunk is genius but sticky spot on tht day for sure
Love how you guys are still answering questions in a 2 year old video
I’ve been running clock tower for about a year. When they ask me to play, I’m 16-0. …and I just watched edd play for the first time here and I’m freakin humbled. This dude is good!!
1:21:00 I love the intricacies of how different powers ping off of each other
No Sully, No Carley? This is not Canon
I've only seen BotC through NRB but excited they're playing with a new group! Hoping for a classic Jon "grits" line
no grits line, but "horny for noms" was a wonderful replacement
RUclips recommended this, and as soon as I saw Blood on the Clocktower + NRB, I clicked it. Liked and subbed. Need more of this content.
the talks between adam blampied and isaac are amazingly hilarious on the background of how historically bad adams social reads and isaacs gameplans are XD
Ahhh Kohav is so not used to the NRB style of chaos plays....never ask Isaac why he does anything XD.
I am so excited to see Issac play with this group! I think he'll mesh well with the stream regulars.
Isacc once again managed to play team chaos perfectly.
Isaac only claimed his role after edd announced the "solution". I would've found that so suss if I was playing, kevkev should have pointed that out during his accusation. And Jon for no reason saying monk was a double claim.
Carley would have worked it out as quick as Edd 😉
So this is like Werewolf but with so much more fun mechanics
Yes. Yes it is.
This is the game that Werewolf grew up to be
I like when they talk about the England match I know exactly when this was played, made me smile. This was highly enjoyable, but I do slightly enjoy the NRB videos because you get all the private convos and see faces so it's easy to follow who is talking in town square.
OH.MY.GOD.
All my Christmases have just come true.
"...I can confirm it's not a Fang Gu game" :D
A great way to start my Saturday morning. Hope NRB makes a video for this also. They do such great editing work for BOTC
Watching this 2 years later as i just discovered this channle is kina surreal
oh man i wish i could play it looks so cool, good job with the game ben
every time ben got adam blampieds name wrong i thought he said me lol
1. This was Epic. 2. NRB is awesome.
feel like a lot of times no one believes issac its because he doesnt speak up enough
If there are only three players remaining, including a Mayor and a Vortox, and no execution occurs on the final day, which team wins?
In case of a tie (Mayor no execution win vs Vortox no execution win, for example), good wins over evil.
The last 3 games I have watched with Edd as a player, the Storytellers are making decisions to try to stump him and, and in one of those games totally confusing the rest of the players. This is another game where I feel that having Edd as a player detracted from the rest of the gangs play. Don't get me wrong, this was a good game, but to quote Capelli from a previous BotC game "If you have a chance to kill Kevkev, you f'ing kill Kevkev!" Evil team rules!!!!
The Fang Gu situation had nothing to do with trying to stump Edd, that was completely based on player choices and correctly ruling the weird niche interactions that resulted. It wasn't even a Fang Gu game originally. What do you think Ben should have done differently to make it less of a puzzle for Edd?
This is weird not seeing cameras
You know what would be great, Nicky on NRB.
Neat. Tom and Isaac swapped the characters they were on the first NRB game.
What a pleasant surprise on a Friday morning
I've never watched Tyler before but, he really reminds me of Joe Hills from the hermitcraft Minecraft server.
I wish everyone was on webcam.
Video: BotC from 2021
RUclips: This is the game Storyteller from 2023
😮
Does anyone know where to find the stats that Adam mentions at 57:55?
THe narrative of the Fan Gu jump is that the demon changes who it is possessing, yes. However, that's _not_ what the RAW say. (A storyteller can do what he likes for balance, feel, and fun, of course.) The rules say, "The 1st Outsider chosen becomes an evil Fan Gu & you die." The "& you die" part is what the current Monk-protected Fan Gu is protected _from,_ but the other part? That still happens. By the RAW, there would be _two_ Fan Gu in play.
I watched this on twitch after the football, the NRB folk had a massive blind spot for the non NRB folk which cost them in the end
Elliot was definitely the MVP
Very surprising given in all the other games I've seen they have been pretty poor and not knowledgeable of the game.
It's odd to me how often people talk down on Elliot given that he has almost a perfect win record on RUclips
12:28 I am still watching Ben :)
I would have loved to of heard Brooke yelling at Sully again that he was evil in private chat lol.
Carley and Sully would have been great additions to this playthrough but it was still an amazing game.
I would have thought that they would have chosen Vigo mortis first so that they could of kept Chris's powers in play but it still worked out in the end.
Edd HAS TO BE WATCHING THE STREAMS! I WON'T BELIEVE OTHERWISE
What is this
Some kinda crossover episode
Only 45 minutes in, just have to say: Isaac is a genius, and are they ever going to figure out that it used to be a Vortox game?? Probably not! Wow.
If it wasn't a recluse dying, since they can register as needed... Id have expected 2 fang-gu and no death with the monk protection. Clearly this is terrible for balance, so kinda get why you'd be tempted to let the kill go through and no spreading of demonology
I don’t know why virgin isn’t an outsider, and a drunk virgin is just an outright advantage.
The Virgin can seem like an Outsider at first because they cause the death of a good player, but one of the Virgin's main power lies in their ability to confirm 100% that they are, in fact, the Virgin. In Trouble Brewing, the Virgin's home script, they're also always a good player. This kind of public confirmation of information in BOTC is extremely rare.
With a confirmed good player, you have a player that no one has any reason to lie to if they're on the good team. a Ravenkeeper publicly bluffing as the Undertaker, or vice versa, could reveal their true role to the Virgin and enlist their help. The Virgin becomes a kind of secret-keeper, someone everyone on the good team can trust. This is very useful in a lot of games.
In BOTC, often the good team will trade lives for information, whilst the evil team trades lives for credibility. The Virgin is just one of the many characters where this principle plays out.
- Evin
Yeah Virgin is almost brokenly overpowered, it definitely isn't an outsider.
I love watching NRB, but I didn't enjoy watching them fumble through this whole game. Tom, Isaac, and Jon had me pulling my hair out by the end. Total communication breakdown. 🤯
The longer this goes on, the more I want to shake Isaac. Talk! Please!
@@onthesamepaige337 That's how Isaac plays ;)
SPOILER:
Elliot, you absolute crazy person. Totally the MVP of this game.
Rules question as a noob can a pit hag turn a enemy like the witch to a Saint? Then vote for the saint be executed?
The saint would still be evil so the evil team would lose
More of these please
Why did Adam NYC vote for Isaac when Kevkev had just announced he was evil?
Because he may as well. Evil had the ability to tie so they had already won
This may come up, as I just started the episode, but Vortox + Recluse. Recluse says you may show up as evil, minion, or demon. That is Good ability-generated information, ironically. Does this mean he can show up as anything that isn't those? Or is the fact that his ability yields false information already enough that the Vortox does nothing to it?
In a Vortox game, a Recluse can never show up as an Outsider or as the Recluse (to a Townsfolk ability), but can show up as anything else. - Ben
How come good couldn't do a three vote tie between Isaac and Adam?... What happens in a tie like that?
The other players have ghost votes, so it's unlikely to be tied one-one-one (if that's what you mean). If it did happen, a tie results in no execution, and the demon gets to kill at night (wins).
1:01:00 And yet none of the NRB players clue in to that several of the games they’ve played are on RUclips
Have no idea why Adam NYC voted for isaac after kevkev explicitly admitted to being evil
Because at that point both sides knew that not enough good players had used their votes to guarantee a good win so it didn't matter
Because without his vote, it was gonna be a tie, and Adam himself was the only person who could still be nominated. May as well push through the only execution he can. It's correct play.
@@qbreezy2417 dont know if i would call it correct... but it certainly was irrelevant - with evil only needing a tie and 3 evil votes available, there was nothing good could do anymore
with what kev said there was no way that isaac was actually the demon, since the whole point was to get kev off the block
a minion would be fine with being on the block, because its a win
a townsfolk could not mobilize the evil team like this (nor would they have any reason to try this strategy)
so kev had to be the demon
ergo... there are no more moves to make and they have won, unless one of them falls asleep and doesnt vote (and in that case doing nothing would be correct rather than voting)
Superb again
Annnddddd subscribed!
Was it technically a bit of a fo pa for ben to say pit hag in a vortox game where there was a pit hag as well for invest? not saying he did it wrong just trying to grasp that ruling
I'm not sure what you're referring to, as it's been a while since this game. Could you possibly timestamp it for me so I can take a look? - Ben
@@BloodontheClocktower It would just be in set up i just didnt know if you should show an investigator pit hag if there is a pit hag in play if there was also a vortox in play since it should all be lies
Ah right, it sounds like I showed the Investigator an in-play Minion, but lied about who that Minion was. That's fine, in fact better than fine, and here's why.
The good team are inevitably going to learn, probably very early, that a Pit Hag is in play. Good players are gonna start getting switched from night 2 onwards. By showing an in-play Minion as a player who isn't that Minion, I've made it seem like it probably isn't a Vortox game, which will encourage the good team to trust their (incorrect) information.
- Ben
@BloodontheClocktower Ah ok I think I understand I just thought you wouldn't be lying if you showed an in play minion but I understand that reasoning myself and get why you'd want to do it so thank you
I miss the old intro song
If the virgin nominates themselves, are they not townsfolk and immediately killed? Unless there is a drunk virgin, i was a bit confusing about an hour and a half ago.
Yes, that's exactly how it works. - Ben
Does playing in Discord create issues with players seeing who gets visited and using the night order to narrow in on people?
Hey Cam, thanks for the question. The server is set up so that only the Storytellers can see who's in all the cottages and visiting each one each night. The players in the cottage don't know what's happening outside of their cottages.
Is this "Petting the players to the cottages" a thing that is in discord or is it a bot?
There are several Discord bots that can do the job, Moveer being the most popular. Usually you set up a “Night” category on Discord, populated with a voice channel per player. Make them private so that players can only see the cabin they’re in and can’t see who the ST visits. One command moves players from Town Square to individual cabins, another draws them all back.
Elliot is the best witch in BotC history. Someone call guiness. :D
Just. Wow.
1:38:30 Successful witch is successful 😄
Anyone want a sects and brewing game??
Imp + TB minions vs. S&V goodies? Interesting idea.
Great game!! Which bot do you use for Moveer shortcuts? In my games I've been manually entering the commands....!
Jack coded one especially for our Discord server.
@@bennburns Cheers man! Looks super useful!
You have trouble with violets but do you have the reverse sects and brewing or is evil to weak to work with the sec & violets goodies?
I think the SnV townsfolk would be too powerful compared to the TB evils, but would be interesting to see
I don’t get it, Why does there have to be two deaths during the first night?
Casting my mind back to this game, I believe a new Demon was created. If you check out the Pit Hag's ability, when a new Demon is made, deaths that night are arbitrary (selected by the Storyteller). Mechanically, this is usually done to signal to the good team that a new Demon is in play. Figuring out which Demon they're against is a big deal for the good team, but it also offers an opportunity for the evil team to feed them lies and misinformation, particularly about which demon they're up against. - Ben
@@BloodontheClocktower Thank you for your reply. You're correct: the Pit-Hag turned her Vortox into a Fang Gu. So I understand that "death are arbitrary", but I'm surprised that it's considered normal practice to have two kills in that case, just to let the good team think there has been a demon change. I'm not questioning your move, I certainly don't know the game well enough, but I'm surprised.
Is it just me, or is this video completely silent? Everything else seems to play fine?
Just checked and it seems to be playing fine. I think it might be just you. - Ben
@@BloodontheClocktower Thank you for taking the time to check and get back to me! A complete mystery, as all the other videos work fine. Clearly some RUclips weirdness, I'll come back to it in future.
@@BloodontheClocktower Yeah, just me, it's working fine now.
Computers. They're basically just sorcery, right? - Ben
i was one use to play this evey foutnight and it was the best games to play
Spoiler, but:
The virgin is a townsfolk, so nominating him(her)self should be immediate suicide, yes?
That's right - if a Virgin is not drunk or poisoned and they nominate themselves, *they* are immediately executed.
If a Pit Hag gets killed by a Vigormortis, then turns it into a Vortox, is the PH all the way dead? Or still counts as being killed by the Vigor?
At that point, because the Vigormortis is no longer in play after that, the Pit-Hag is all the way dead. So it's a big decision for a Vigor-dead Pit-Hag to potentially remove their ability by creating a new demon.
Thank you
will this end up on NRB?
No
1:11:00 lol they have a witch and are like, 'let's throw out 4 nominations like it ain't no thing' XD dafuq is that?! and also the ravenskeeper destroys their own ability. you new?!
Shame kohav kept talking when it was the last day. So much time was wasted repeating the same info. Good could have worked it out if she just listened instead of arguing with Edd.
Seemed like a lot of history there. But she was justifiably frustrated since she knew he was good but wouldn’t commit.. he was pushing kevkev earlier but she needed his support to put up her hand, since she was first after the nominee
45:45 Ben kills outsider after telling the fang gu that a *fair* story teller wouldnt kill an outsider after the pit hag made a new fang gu. Yea that checks out
Edit ok *chat* saved it
why was edds info wrong at the beginning can somebody answer?
Vortox
The Vortox causes all Townsfolk abilities to yield false info.
Spoiler:
For the Vortox / FT red herring, it makes sense to show all other players as the demon, except the demon, and possibly Recluse. The red herring is already false info, so it remains as a ping.
disagree here - as far as it relates to the fortune teller, it is accurate information based on their ability (even if it is not true information about that players role)
the red herring correctly registers as the demon to the fortune teller
so in a vortox scenario, it would have to yield a no
@@SharienGaming I agree with that. The consensus / ruling seems to be different than what it might have been last year when I wrote that.
@@darbyl3872 yeah to be fair, i only recently started stumbling into clocktower, so this is all pretty fresh for me at this time^^
@@SharienGamingI think the fact that the Fortune Teller's ability reads "There is one good player that registers falsely to you." makes the Vortox's "Good abilities yield false information." have no effect, as the information is still false. If it read something like "There is one good player that registers as the Demon." then I think it should be affected. Alternatively, you could argue that part of their ability immediately becomes false information when two or more good players register falsely.
@@ellysemilton1309 "Each night, choose 2 players: you learn if either is a Demon. There is a good player that registers as a Demon to you."
thats the fortune tellers ability from the official clocktower wiki
not sure if the physical rulebook has a different wording though
i agree with your logic though - both of your conclusions, based on the text of the ability make sense to me

removing people's pronouns from their nicknames is not cool, even if you're clarifying overlapping names. even if the people present all know each other.
Hey. I have absolutely no idea what you're referring to, as this game was run over two years ago. But I find it hard to imagine that anyone on this channel would have the desire (or power) to remove someone's pronouns. Either way, the official app has pronouns baked into it, so they're always visible. - Ben
@@BloodontheClocktower changing people's nicknames on discord
@@BloodontheClocktower ive also seen people mess up pronouns multiple times on this channel _while the pronouns were there on the app,_ so it doesn't seem to be doing its job particularly well does it
I'm sorry to hear that you're upset. Again, this game was played two years ago, so I don't know what you're referring to, but I can assure you that pronouns are very important to this channel and this community. - Ben
