Brilliant guitarist. Acclaimed... this song is about his falling in love with his best friend ( George Harrison) wife, Patti Boyd. He's begging her" you got me on knees". They did marry ... he was a King. We all bow to clapton, including every musician . Stay safe young man Thanks
Like Clapton said when asked what does it feel like 2b the greatest guitarist of our time he said " i don't know ask Prince " mutual respect amongst legends. Much 💜#STAYWILD
You are right. Once again confusing the art with the man. And now that he and Van Morrison another artist I loved is sending out that dangerous message. How sad and disappointing and terrible. Irresponsible self serving. The art is not the artist. I'm 65 yrs old and still learning that.
Perfect first Eric Clapton song for you .one of my favorites of his. He is Rock but also known as a top top guitarist. Still prrforning...,go down the rabbit hole with his stuff
Clapton invented blues rock guitar. Sets him apart from the others. No guitarist influenced rock music more than him besides Chuck Berry and Jimmy Hendrix. Deserves respect.
Eric Clapton is known to be in the top ten of greatest R&R guitarists. He began his career in the 1960’s. This song, Layla, is from the 1970’s. He did another, much slower, rendition of this song a few years later. You really should play more Clapton. He’s one of my favorite solo artists. However, he had also sang/played in the band “Cream”, and also with “Blind Faith”, which Steve Winwood also played in. These two did a reunion tour back in 2009. I was lucky enough to get free tickets in great seats. But listen to Claptons: Before You Accuse Me (take a look at yourself) Pretending It’s in the Way That You Use It I Can’t Stand It After Midnight Change the World Forever Man Riding With the King (that he sang with BB King) Sleeping In the Ground These are just a very few of his hits.
I consider Eric Blues/Rock. He toured together with the legendary Muddy Waters in 1979 on a cross country 20+ city tour. One of those things I regret never getting to see.
Try some Band Cream. Three piece band from the late 60s with Eric on guitar, Jack Bruce on Bass, and Ginger Baker on drums. Three masters at work. I’d start with Sunshine if Your Love or White Room. Hang on tight.
You should react to his song “Wonderful Tonight “. BTW, I LOVE me some Journey too. I was a teenager when they put out their hits that you have reacted to. No other singer will have a place in my heart like Steve Perry. He actually had a little solo career after Journey. “Oh Sherry” was one of his solo hits.
Pamela have you ever looked up the story of Steve falling in love with a really sick lady? God it'll break your heart and make you love Steve even more.
Fantastic reaction!! As good as this live version is, this song is one of the few instances where the original studio version is the best version...Him and Dwayne Allman worked magic together on that version and it has never been equaled...
Eric Clapton is a musical genius. He’s been voted into the rock and roll hall of fame numerous times. This song is about George Harrison’s wife. (The Beatles) Eric fell in love with her back in the day. They ended up together for a while..
When the Layla came out in early 70s, I played Layla for my mom who grew up with Big Band music (Glenn Miller, etc). She didn't care for first part but loved the coda (the piano part at the end). You need to understand the whole story of the song - Patti Boyd, Duane Allman's part of the song, etc. Plus - there are some AMAZING songs on the album! Search "Derek and the Dominos". Soulful voices are my favorites too. I highly recommend that you explore Clapton's history of music. It's a very deep rabbit hole. As they once said "Clapton is God". You'll understand once you dive deeper. 😉 PS - this version varies a lot from the original. I highly suggest you go to the Layla album and listen to the original. It's much better, IMO.
You’ve missed out (not knowing any better)...You have to hear the original recording as: Derek and the Dominoes. Check out: Bellbottom Blues. Got to be above the rest, check out the greatness of what your reacting to so you can show ultimate respect.
Wonderful Tonight by Clapton, in concert please. They finish the song with the dark haired backup singer showcasing her talent. Her name is Peggy Kasoon I think, world class vocalist.
Clapton more of a guitarist who sings. You should check out some early Clapton in what was considered a supergroup back in the day. The band was called Cream - songs such as White Room, Sunshine of Your Love and Disraeli Gears
Late 60s Clapton and Hendrix were the 2 guitar megastars, head and shoulders above everyone else. Clapton’s was a big rockstar in the 70s and 80s and held that position since then. During that period i believe he did a lot of coke and drink (like alot of artists in that period), been totally sober for something like 30+ years.
Eric "Slowhand" Clapton. Only musician inducted into hall of fame 3 times: Yardbirds; Cream; solo. Rock legend, Rock God, his life has been one who experiences a mired of tragedies, he over comes...survives. Saw him twice, solo. Try After Midnight; Cocaine; White Room. Great reaction. 👍❤
clapton's widely considered one of the best rock guitarists, ever. period. because his transitions from one chord to the next are so smooth, he earned the nickname, "slow hand," with other musicians, even before he went on to gain enormous fame. and you're still cute as hell, lol.
Eric Clapton, only 3X inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, so far with Yardbirds: For Your Love, Heart Full of Soul with Cream: White Room, Tales of Brave Ulysses, Crossroads Eric (solo): Old Love (unplugged), Cocaine, Let it Rain, Bell Bottom Blues, Tears in Heaven also check out stuff from Blind Faith: Can't Find My Way Home, Had to Cry Today For your own pleasure- like recommended by others-check out the studio version of Layla with Duane Allman's crying guitar during the last part of song.
"In 1969, Clapton fell in love with Pattie Boyd, the wife of one of his best friends, Beatles' George Harrison. ... With the help of percussionist Jim Gordon, Clapton wrote a song based on his reaction to the story and called it, Layla "." Clapton hoped its message would convince Boyd to leave her husband for him." It worked.
In case anyone don't recognize the bassist, that's Nathan East, who has played on 'Bad' and 'Thriller' with MJ, founding member of jazz quartet 'Fourplay', played with Daft Punk and too many other people to list.
If you haven't already, I suggest you listen to "Hey Joe" by Jimi Hendrix (live from Monterey in 1967) and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood, Prince, etc. The sheer talent on both songs is mind blowing.
Clapton, Beck, Page, and Hendrix are the guitar gods of the past who influenced pretty much everyone on the instrument. Also might throw in George Harrison and Hank Marvin of the Shadows, and Hank influenced all the others. Check out his beautiful playing.
Some fun info for you about Mr Eric Clapton. His been inducted into the Hall of Rock n Roll Fame 3 times. One when in the band, Derrick and the Dominoes, 2nd when in the band Cream and 3rd as a Solo Artist. His played along side the God Father of Blues, B.B.King, who I think gave Erick the nickname Slow Hands, due to how Erick plays the guitar. I'm sure if I got any info wrong, that someone will correct me.
Cool that you found Eric Clapton!!! That's not the best song to hear for the first time. In fact, the studio version is 10 to 20 times better. Also, Eric Clapton is famous for a lot of hits.
Check out the original when he was front man for Derek and The Dominoes...1970. Duane Allman (Allman Brothers) on slide guitar. Worth the effort to find and listen. ✌
Them girls are Tessa Niles and Katie Cassons. The next song of his has got to be "Wonderful Tonight" another love song written for a woman that was with a friend of his, but he finally got her in the end.
I had 2 choices for my daughter's name Layla and Aimee... her dad preferred Aimee...SMH Layla was a hit in the late 70's she was born in 1979. There was a song named Ami by Pure Prairie League out in the early 70's
Eric Clapton is the only artist to be inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame 3 times... •The Yardbirds (1992) •Cream (1993) •Eric Clapton (2000, as a solo artist) Eric Clapton is considered one of the greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll guitarist of all times.
There was a group, Delaney and Bonnie and Friends, that consisted of the group you are seeing here plus more and of course Delaney and Bonnie. They had a song that will knock your socks off! "Only You Know and I Know." You will see live versions, but this is the studio version and it is fantastic. Listen to it carefully on the headphones. It is an extremely clean recording, and you can imagine where every instrument is placed in the recording studio. ruclips.net/video/IHFWNMFyRBY/видео.html
MTV used to have a show called "Unplugged" in which artists would perform all-acoustic versions of their music. Clapton's unplugged version of Layla became a big hit on the radio. Ever since then, the world can be divided into 2 groups: those who prefer the original by Derek & the Dominoes, and those who prefer the MTV unplugged version. Me? I much prefer the original for its fire and emotion and passion. This live performance is closer to the original record. (I still think you should listen to the original studio version.)
Brilliant guitarist. Acclaimed... this song is about his falling in love with his best friend ( George Harrison) wife, Patti Boyd. He's begging her" you got me on knees". They did marry ... he was a King. We all bow to clapton, including every musician . Stay safe young man Thanks
Yes, and let's not forget his band Cream
Like Clapton said when asked what does it feel like 2b the greatest guitarist of our time he said " i don't know ask Prince " mutual respect amongst legends. Much 💜#STAYWILD
I mean, he also abused and cheated on her, so not the greatest love story of all time. But as an artist... SUPERB!
You are right. Once again confusing the art with the man. And now that he and Van Morrison another artist I loved is sending out that dangerous message. How sad and disappointing and terrible. Irresponsible self serving. The art is not the artist. I'm 65 yrs old and still learning that.
@@NekkidBacon ..and Patti cheated on her first husband, so call 1-800- CRY-BABY.
From the great album Derek and the Dominoes. Eric Clapton is a living legend.
Eric Clapton is a rock, blues, Ragae and just all-around iconic guitarist
Tears in heaven, writting for his son💜💔
How he died absolutely destroyed me! I have a three year old myself 😭
The main guitar riff for this song was written with and for Eric, by Duane Allman. RIP. (1971)
Perfect first Eric Clapton song for you .one of my favorites of his. He is Rock but also known as a top top guitarist. Still prrforning...,go down the rabbit hole with his stuff
Listen to your elders
We might be getting old but we got to see all the good bands !
We were loaded ! LOL
The Eric Clayton unplugged (MTV) version of this song is awesome. He also sings one of my top two songs, Cocaine. You should check both of those out.
That unplugged album is killer!
Clapton is, in my book, one of the top 5 guitarists.
Really? He didn't even make my top ten.
rubbersole
You’re reading the wrong book 😉😉.
Clapton invented blues rock guitar. Sets him apart from the others. No guitarist influenced rock music more than him besides Chuck Berry and Jimmy Hendrix. Deserves respect.
I totally agree, actually top 3 in my book...........1, Jimmy Hendrix, 2, Jimmy Page, 3, Eric Clapton, 4, Stevie ray Vaughan, 5, Eddie Van Halen!!!
Only person to be inducted into Rock and Roll hall of fame 3 times!!! What does that tell you.............
Eric Clapton is known to be in the top ten of greatest R&R guitarists. He began his career in the 1960’s. This song, Layla, is from the 1970’s. He did another, much slower, rendition of this song a few years later.

Pretending
It’s in the Way That You Use It
I Can’t Stand It
After Midnight
Change the World
Forever Man
Riding With the King (that he sang with BB King)
Sleeping In the Ground
These are just a very few of his hits.
R+B since when
I consider Eric Blues/Rock. He toured together with the legendary Muddy Waters in 1979 on a cross country 20+ city tour. One of those things I regret never getting to see.
Clapton's guitar technique is what 50 years of playing gets ya. Bend them strings until they cry for ya!
Gosh, I’d give anything if you guys had been around when we had all these amazing groups. All I can say is, it was rocking all the time.
Extended version of Wonderful Tonight! Clapton was and is an amazing guitarist
"Cocaine" by Eric Clapton 👍
Try some Band Cream. Three piece band from the late 60s with Eric on guitar, Jack Bruce on Bass, and Ginger Baker on drums. Three masters at work. I’d start with Sunshine if Your Love or White Room. Hang on tight.

Tragic Deyz no, but I will make sure to check it out. Sounds so sweet.
Fantastic reaction!! As good as this live version is, this song is one of the few instances where the original studio version is the best version...Him and Dwayne Allman worked magic together on that version and it has never been equaled...
Another legend who was also friends with Bob Marley, Eric recorded one of Bob's songs I Shot The Sheriff, check that out
Eric Clapton is a musical genius. He’s been voted into the rock and roll hall of fame numerous times. This song is about George Harrison’s wife. (The Beatles) Eric fell in love with her back in the day. They ended up together for a while..
One of the best guitar riffs ever. Clapton has a tone like no other.
You will like it . Its just pure bliss. Nickname god or slowhand .
One of the greatest musicians ever.
LOVE this song! I used to play it all the way up for hours!!
Greatest living guitarist today.

This man is guitar royalty, he is in every top 5 guitarists I have ever seen

Eric "Slowhand" Clapton. Only musician inducted into hall of fame 3 times: Yardbirds; Cream; solo.

Saw him twice, solo.
Try After Midnight; Cocaine; White Room.

"Old Love" amazing live version. It is a killer.
Never pause in the middle of a guitar solo. Never.
Sunshine of your love
Eric Clapton, only 3X inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, so far

Clapton is a rock god. Yardbird, cream, Derek and the domino's. Blind faith. Fucking amazing
You are dealing with world’s best guitarists... he is always brilliant 3- 8 minutes
1972 crawling on my hands and knees to the bathroom and Layla came on the radio, stopped me in my tracks, got me on my feet, I must say!
"In 1969, Clapton fell in love with Pattie Boyd, the wife of one of his best friends, Beatles' George Harrison. ... With the help of
percussionist Jim Gordon, Clapton wrote a song based on his reaction to the story and called it, Layla "." Clapton hoped its message would convince Boyd to leave her husband for him." It worked.
Thanks for your reaction, Antoine. Enjoyed it greatly. Take care and be well. Peace.
Yeah. It’s definitely about the guitar bro. I’m with grandma on this. She probably my age. He’s the guitar God.
Clapton also led the bad Cream. Their: Sunshine of Your Love, White Room and Spoonful are good listening material.
In case anyone don't recognize the bassist, that's Nathan East, who has played on 'Bad' and 'Thriller' with MJ, founding member of jazz quartet 'Fourplay', played with Daft Punk and too many other people to list.
1 of top 5 greatest guitarist
The second half of the song plays over the closing scene of the movie Goodfellas, works really well too 👍
If you haven't already, I suggest you listen to "Hey Joe" by Jimi Hendrix (live from Monterey in 1967) and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood, Prince, etc. The sheer talent on both songs is mind blowing.
They are doing “call and response” singing. The Singers call “Layla” and Eric responds with “..Got Me on my knees”.
Clapton, Beck, Page, and Hendrix are the guitar gods of the past who influenced pretty much everyone on the instrument. Also might throw in George Harrison and Hank Marvin of the Shadows, and Hank influenced all the others. Check out his beautiful playing.
He’s one of the best guitarist of all time..... Facts.... Look it up.... I think he’s a two time rock in roll of hall of framer.....
Wonderful Tonight!!!!!!!
He is one of the best! ❤️
Some fun info for you about Mr Eric Clapton. His been inducted into the Hall of Rock n Roll Fame 3 times. Yardbirds not Derek & the Dominos
A master of the instrument !!
Cool that you found Eric Clapton!!! That's not the best song to hear for the first time. In fact, the studio version is 10 to 20 times better. Also, Eric Clapton is famous for a lot of hits.
Most definitely
Always my fav.
Clapton has many wonderful songs, not only as a solo artist but also as a member of Cream. Try "Badge" or "White Room".
Check out one of the bands he played with, Cream.. great trio right there..
Bell Bottom Blues is a great song. 💖💖
A good mid 80s clapton tune to react to is Behind the Mask which was a hit, i think it featured on the Tom Cruise pool film Color of Money in 1986.
Dude had ties with BB king. Both legends
Would love to see your reaction to "Turn The Page" by Bob Seeger
YESSS

Check out the original when he was front man for Derek and The Dominoes...1970. Duane Allman (Allman Brothers) on slide guitar. Worth the effort to find and listen. ✌

Try Wonderful Tonight... Old Slow Hand at his best I think.
Time for The Beatles, Across The Universe ☮️
Eric Clapton is the only artist to be inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame 3 times...
•The Yardbirds (1992)
•Cream (1993)

Eric Clapton is considered one of the greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll guitarist of all times.
Eric got mad respect from B B King back in the day

The Unplugged version is a completely different song.
The original Derek and the Dominos with Duane Allman is the best
Crossroads, Sunshine of You Love, Wonderful Tonight, Tears in Heaven, Cocaine.
"Tears in heaven" wrote for Conor his dead son
#NoLimitNation 💯✊ What up Twon.
If you want a great live performance to react to, look on RUclips for his performance of a song called Badge, from 1985 in Hartford, Connecticut.
