I am torn between the Air Force & the Navy. But for me the lever is tilting toward Navy just a slight because of the travel. The Air Force because the lifestyle and its more family oriented. Hhhhhhhhh hard choice
Walk’nSuccess I’m the same right now I’m stuck between Air Force and Navy. I am leaning more towards air force because they had better housing better food and travel is similar to the navy
I’m from Orange County and I’ve been looking into all the branches you have no idea how much I appreciate you guys doing this, it’s helping me get some good info
So, to preface this, I just left MEPS a week ago and entered DEP for the Navy. When I went to MEPS, I still had a high score on my ASVAB from high school, and was able to skip that portion of MEPS. I scored a 90, so technically, I could qualify for just about every job in the Navy. However, one thing I learned is the Navy has switched to a classification system for all candidates, which puts them in one of 3 different classes; C1, C2, or C3. High scorers on the ASVAB are put in C1 and can ONLY pick from the 'best jobs' if they're available. 'Best jobs' being the most technical jobs like FC, ET, Nuke, AC, etc. Basically, you can only pick from your classification level as long as it has open jobs. A C1 candidate can only go down to C2 jobs if there are no C1 jobs. C2 can only pick a C3 job if there are no C2 jobs, and if there are no C3 jobs, a C3 is SOL.(Though its not at all likely) The only way to get out of this is by getting a highly competitive PRT score and picking up a NSO or NSW contract from a NSW/NSO Mentor and picking one of those 'jobs'.(and obviously passing the cut in training) If you're a C1 like me, and don't want a desk job,(like one I had to pick) take the ASVAB again at MEPS and try not to score as high. Which is kinda hard to say, because obviously you don't want to do bad, but I lost out on the jobs I would have liked much more because I scored too high. I'm only putting this in the comments because I have never found information about this on the web, and I would really have loved to know this before swearing in. (I was made aware of this after the fact, I'm now seeking a NSW contract before my ship date.) That being said, good luck guys. Get the job you want if you can.
This is my son he scored 90 as well on ASVAB so he qualified for everything also, he is in boot camp right now, he is graduating Navy boot camp August 9th 2019, I'm so proud of him 🙂👍
My goal, regardless if i end up joining the airforce or not, is to buy a property. At the end of the day when you rent, you're just paying off someoen else's mortgage. decide you don't want to live there anymore? rent it out, have someone pay off the mortgage for you, and sell it when its paid off. plus rent is usually higher than a monthly mortgage rate so you'll be making some money off them, and once you have a renter you can refinance to get a loan for another property to live in. my parents are doing this, they have 2 rental properties at the moment and will be getting more after selling one off (its a large home, we made an addition to it so the mortgage on it is for a smaller home and when its sold it'll be enough money to buy 2 properties)
+Secret Weapon Yeah, there are definitely pros and cons to buying vs renting. I think in the end it depends on how long you plan on staying in one place.
Dude, my MEPS could not have gone any better. I'm Navy. I had exactly the rate I wanted in mind on my way to MEPS. Medical went perfect and when I got to my liaison and counselor, they gave me the rate (AV) with a pretty good ship date where I wanted it and I locked it down. The $10k enlistment bonus for source rate was just the cherry on top.
12:48 They talk about how the job selection in each branch works. Thanks to Kyle it was very detailed only because JT kinda vague 24:00 Pros and cons of joining the NAVY. Kyle Legally cannot say anything negative about the navy 32:19 Transitioning OUT of the NAVY AND AIR FORCE and the financial aspects of it.
My son joined the Navy because he loves water swimming he wants to be like a lifeguard on the ship he is not afraid of heights, he is in boot camp right now, he is graduating boot camp August 9th, 2019 can't hardly wait to go to Great Lakes from Northern California to see him graduate, so proud of him 🙂👍
Today is my 30 day mark before I leave for basic. And at work I played this video and just listened to it and not only was it very informative, but it also sparked some of my own question to ask my recruiter earlier today. Thank you for all of the help!
I hope my Grandsons turn out to be wonderful men like you two. PLUS..the fact that you both love animals says a lot about your character. I foresee great things ahead for Kyle and JT and hope to be around long enough to see it happen. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Side note with the jobs question, the jobs that have the highest percentage of getting it are Special Operation jobs in the AF (Pararescue, CCT, TACP, SOWT, SERE) as those jobs require guaranteed contracts.
Sometimes going undesignated is an advantage because you can look at the actual jobs and speak to the people doing them. So you get a better picture also you have more opportunities at picking the right job for you.
Huge toss-up for me - met with Air Force recruiter this morning - he said I would come in as an E-4. Navy recruiter yesterday thinks becoming a CT is a good fit for me, and they have great enlistment bonuses. My cons of the Navy are: I'm 6ft5.5 according to the recruiter today, and you're out at sea with no wifi for 6 months in a rack with three other roommates.
Just... yeah, man, I'm scared of heights, but I'm gonna start getting over it before I enlist. I'm headin' for the Navy! And I'm fine with water.. but it's more the creatures underwater, and the danger. -I'm doing it anyways though.
Recruitment in the Aus navy lets you pick any job you qualify for with the aptitude test. Its just that some jobs take longer to get in if they're full. You can wait a few month to a yr or more until recruit school. But you still have full say in what job you want.
Kyle suits This was an extremely informative video. I really appreciate you all taking the time to film this. Kyle made a great point of investing your bah out of your g.i. bill into a house instead of wasting the money on rent.
Love these guys. My recruiter gave me aircraft fuel systems.... Featured on dirtiest jobs season 1 episode 29.. Claustraphobic bath in jet fuel... Thanks airforce recruiter lol. Just happy to be going honestly.
“ Kylesuits “ .... thanks guys, I’m trying to go into the Navy by 2019 maybe a little later but I want to get in shape first thank you for your help , thankz fam
When you have lived in the private sector like I have for many years...aged 52....I do look back and wished I had stayed in for that retirement security. I have planned....but nothing compares to what the military pays, especially officers.
I'd say that when it comes to boot camp regardless of service, you don't want to show up out of shape. Find out the physical standards before you go (how many sit ups per minute, run times, etc) and be able to meet or exceed the standards from day one. You do that, and you have half the battle one.
I joined the Air Force a couple years ago and I filled out the dream sheet, but my recruiter called me and offered me a few jobs at a time until there was one that I wanted and it was guaranteed
Just seeing this. Love both of you guys. I always watch your videos while I'm working out. I'm torn between the navy and airforce. I love both, the recuiter for the airforce wont talk to me unless I lose the weight I need first. But the navy has sent emails lol. Both of you give great advice! I have 6 month till I hopefully hit goal weight. Thinking about going in for 4 years maybe more if I like it. 🏋️♀️🏋️♀️🏋️♀️
Kyle Suits Excellent Video and Im going to Navy boot camp in 6 days.. HM (Hospital Corpsman)..and actually when I was younger I wanted to join the Air Force. However the Navy is the best thing for me right now...especially since I’m single, 20 and wish to help/assist/serve other or fight /stand up for them...also the Traveling in the Navy is ridiculous so wish me luck..once again excellent video keeping doing what your doing, thanks for the service, it’s my turn now, and I honestly appreciate this video big time....ps and yes I’ll be here two years from now to watch this pros and cons of the Air Force 🤣🤣🤣
Cons, yeah, the non military folks just will not understand it. Our ship was in the yards, all the equipment was turned off, yet, they still wanted a CSMC watch. CSMC was baking hot, there was a portable AC unit blowing right in there and it barely felt like it made a difference. The watchstander was there to monitor the equipment....but, in the yards, it is turned off. There is just a huge bureaucracy in the military. There is this mindset of "this is how it was done, and so it is how it will be done." The military is also great on the "paper" training. You will watch a video or a powerpoint, you got trained. I have to agree 100% with Kyle, have a plan. It is a bit of a shame, however, for the junior enlisted. As a reservist, most of those in the reserves are older. We deployed to the U.A.E., and heard this story from a junior enlisted about how they did a tour there and had nothing to show for it, no money. It is mind boggling. You do not have go boozing it out every night.
My dad taught the swimming portion of naval bootcamp, and I got to jump off the same platform recruits did, except we did it for fun. It's only 15 feet.
My husband is in the army but I'm 36 now and to they stopped age waiver couple days ago...now I consider joining the Air Force reserve cause theyre bases are most of the time close to the army ones and in the reserve I don't have issues moving. But when our kids get older I want to switch to active duty as well. But if it wouldn't be for that I woulda joined the Navy, just for the simple fact that I love the ocean, swimming, diving and of corse the traveling.
kyle first off thank you for all the videos and the great information you have provided for me. i booked open general and i was wondering if you could do a video of really explaining it and what the process is. me and all of my friends that have booked it are kinda nervous about it and there is not really any videos on it. PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ON OPEN GENERAL! THANKS BRO

I’m from Orange County and I’ve been looking into all the branches you have no idea how much I appreciate you guys doing this, it’s helping me get some good info
Duuuuuude the last bit is GOLD. That’s one thing I think all branches need to work on. Improving the financial literacy of their enlisted members.
So, to preface this, I just left MEPS a week ago and entered DEP for the Navy.

There are a lot of negatives to buying a house. It can be a good financial decision but it can also be a bad one.
+Secret Weapon Yeah, there are definitely pros and cons to buying vs renting. I think in the end it depends on how long you plan on staying in one place.
Tatiana Tch. I like your goals
Schoolie. Check it out
Just dont us a VA loan as you can not ever rent it out in that case
Saved for my viewing pleasure later. Still at work😆 merry Christmas bros

ha! only time I swam was in boot camp for the "test". Did all I needed to do to barely pass.
Meanwhile I'm thinking about joining the navy partly because of the water XD
My son joined the Navy because he loves water swimming he wants to be like a lifeguard on the ship he is not afraid of heights, he is in boot camp right now, he is graduating boot camp August 9th, 2019 can't hardly wait to go to Great Lakes from Northern California to see him graduate, so proud of him 🙂👍

Matt Burdewick glad we could help !
The last 12 minutes of this video is gold! I'm leaving march 7th for basic and this has been my mindset since the beginning. Thanks for voicing it!
Can't wait for that cons video in two years!
The best advice I received:The best way to make change is to make rank and you learn more from a bad leader than a good one.
I hope my Grandsons turn out to be wonderful men like you two. PLUS..the fact that you both love animals says a lot about your character. I foresee great things ahead for Kyle and JT and hope to be around long enough to see it happen. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Kyle: IN THE AIR FORCE WE-

Kyle Suits.
This definitely was an informative video. I'm enlisting in April, and trying to get all the knowledge I can on it.
Kyle Suits! Binge watching these videos because I leave for basic in two weeks!
Sometimes going undesignated is an advantage because you can look at the actual jobs and speak to the people doing them. So you get a better picture also you have more opportunities at picking the right job for you.

When did Pete Wentz enlist in the navy?
My thoughts exactly! HAHA!
He looks more like Elvis imo
That’s who he looks like! I knew it was someone!
I literally just posted about it before I read the comments!! He looks a lot like him!!
Kyle Suits. Nice video guys. Big respect for advising new guys to buy property. 👍
Crazy the view difference in these videos! Keep grinding guys love the new and old vids!
Just... yeah, man, I'm scared of heights, but I'm gonna start getting over it before I enlist. I'm headin' for the Navy!
And I'm fine with water.. but it's more the creatures underwater, and the danger. -I'm doing it anyways though.
Kyle...Why are you in the Air Force if your scared of hights xD
iTacticalRaccoon just because you're in Air Force means you fly in planes
What? Do you mind rephrasing that please?
Sorry lol
I meant just because he is in the air force.
That doesn't mean he's always in planes or helicopters. He works on them.
iTacticalRaccoon a lot of airmen never even touch a military plane...
I know that I was just stating the irony.
KyleSuits! thanks guys I always appreciate the insight you give and help educate me to make a better decision for my future
kylesuits Q&A bruh! Loving you guys' channel collaborations!
