I love this. My Grandson is making a decision to join one of these branches. I'm forwarding this to him. Dude...I'm a 20 year retired Air Force veteran. I have work around Cherry Point Marines when they flew in during an exercise mission. The had to come over to our tool crib and scrounge parts from us to fix their planes, because of poor funding. Air Force is where the money is. My Air Force drill instructor was an Ex-Marine. He told us, 'When I was in Vietnam in a muddy foxhole and saw the Zoomies living in air conditioned barrack, I said to my self. What the heck am I doing?' Nuff said.

To be fair the quality of life hes referring to is unique to Japan which is arguably the worst in the Marine Corps as far as freedom goes. For the most part, stateside as a fleet Marine is a lot better, there are no restrictions for the most part, as long as you're at your appointed place of duty, you're free to do what you want during your time off. Great interview and solid info! The only thing I didn't like was that Gott kept interrupting Nava when he was trying to explain specific answers... hahaha. Just let the man talk.
this is so unfair. Why do they treat hard working marines like cadets on a camp but the Airmen get a good home salary and dont even have to shave that often. Whats the point of joining the marines anyway for hardcore fun?
***** exactly! im not saying no one should join the marines but its not for everyone. My cousin joined the marines in 2013 and after basic training he already wanted to come home because he keeps complaining about how hard and physically challenging it is. I believe the Airforce is the best choice for me. I have my last year in ROTC and i believe the Airforce is the right choice for me and could of been a great career for my cousin because he loves Air-crafts and wanted to become a pilot but sadly he didnt research about the different careers and ops in the military and how it could affect his life
+B.C.H.SBanger The Marines do what the whole point of the military is. To physically defend this nation that people are currently attempting infiltrate and attack our people on the streets. When most Airmen get out. Will they be able to believe they made a difference defending this nation against foreign and or domestic enemies. I don't believe so. Painting airplanes and welding sheet metal is really bad ass.
+caltek2006 The way I see it is the Marines is much more selfless career and the Air Force is a selfish career. Those looking to get an easy ride for the military's great benefits.
"If we had everything we needed we wouldn't be pissed off and ready kill someone all the time. See, the Marine Corp is like Americas little pitbull. They beat us, mistreat us, and occasionally let us out to attack someone."
My dad is a Navy officer that was stationed in Kadena I remember going to japan every summer to visit him. It will be my turn to serve in a few years when I finish ROTC and Kadena would be dope. That is one good thing about marines is that the base location are absolutely beautiful, maybe that has something to do with them being a sea force.

how is the pride and brotherhood you see in each branch, like obviously the marines has the whole "once a marine always a marine" and like the "brothers in arms" but what about the air force?
My dad always told me to join the Air Force for the better quality but I’ve always liked camping and hiking so bunking with guys isn’t a problem for me. And the discipline drilled into you by the marines is good for character
I think it's funny how Kyle is all proud of how the Air Force is so chill and laid back but yet all Kyle can do is 40 push ups before he gives up and I'm sure others that are in the Air Force can't do much better than Kyle. It all comes down to if we went to war who would save us. Marines or Air Force. It's sad that each branch has to out do each other when you guys all work for the same government.
Sabrina Conklin Same Oath, Same Government, Same Mission. No need for any separation outside of in a joking manner. I am in the process of enlisting in the Air Fore now & am proud to say that but i have huge respect for any other branch
It just shows marines put their life for the person next to them that's why they are so close I'd rather be having a room buddy then barely knowing people in the Air Force & stick in my room That's why they are elite
+NavaTheBeast that's right brother I plan on enlisting in August just doing everything I can to get physically fit before but mentally is the challenge I'm willing to take
@kylegott, I binge watched a bunch of your videos last night 6/14 and I had wanted to join the Marine corps since I was ten. I knew exactly what I was getting myself into with joining the Marines. While watching last night, I definitely saw the major differences. And because of watching your videos I have made the change to join the Air Force. Sounds super bad on my part because I made TONS of jokes about the "chair force" and much more, yet I still am hyped to join. You may not think it, but you inspired me to want to join. Your videos on the tattoo policy, BMT, ect, and it made me seriously change my thought process.
Kyle I talked to my recruiter Yesterday and it didn't go so good :(. He said I need to gain weight first, that it'd be easier to gain weight through muscle. So my questions to you is, will you please make a video on your supplements, what they do, and how to use them. Also, how to gain weight please!
I have consistent training, good sleep, and I'm trying to figure this out diet thing out. I don't understand how I can eat (a lot) lift and keep the weight or vice versa.
+Optimistic WonTon this is what my coach told me to do. Take a glass of whole milk, and pour two packets of instant non fat dry milk into that. Then put in two tablespoons of nesquick in there. Boom. 800 calories. Then he had me eat fig newtons all the time. Like a box every week.....just an example of some things to do.
When lol? This is disappointing I've been waiting 3 years to join and already got somewhat disqualified :(. I drink 20 oz of milk with a pound of protein.
All he is doing is trying to get Nava to disrespect the Marine Corps... I really respect Nava for staying professional and never once taking shots at any other branch. The Air Force guy on the other hand is constantly, secretly bashing the Marine Corps. That's a great representation of Airmen and Nava is the perfect representation of professionals and respectable Marine.
I had my own room during C School in Pensacola. Now I'm in Iwakuni, Japan and I still have my own room, I just share a common area with another Marine but just wanted to put that out there. Not all bases are that bad about having your privacy, just depends on your assigned Unit.
the more i listen to this, the more i feel for the Marines. the Marines seem to have a much TOUGHER life. seriously, way way tougher than the others. this is so unfair.
Hey Kyle would you do a Q&A with a Special Missions Aviator? I've been really interested in the job and would like hearing tips from a person who's currently doing that job.
Special Mission Aviator afsc:1A9X1 are crew members on HH60s, AC130s etc. Basically, they're spec ops flyers. They're loadmaster, flight engineer, and door gunner combined. So all aircrew go through tech training at lack land, last time I checked they're washout rate was over 75 percent, as if getting a flying afsc was hard enough lol. They're pretty undermanned so I'd say you'd have a decent shot a getting it, although getting a 1A job is diffivult enough (less than 2%) Good luck!! -C130 loadmaster
I'm enlisting in the air force pretty soon and my buddy who just left for boot camp asked me before he left why I won't enlist in the marines, wish I could show him this video about the quality of life
For the record, this Marine is stationed in Japan so the policies are a little more strict than usual. In the states pretty much the same policies. Quality of life in the Marines is just fine
I recently enlisted into the Army Reserve and completed Basic Training at Fort Jackson back in August and am now in AIT at Fort Gordon and I too thought about the same two. Even though I don't know much about Air Force life, I choose the Army because it is the largest branch and your MOS is guaranteed since its large. In the Air Force, I learned since its the third largest the branch might not have openings for your job and would have to look for another. I hope that helps but there is probably are a few good reasons to join the Air Force too.
Have you ever visited Yambal(northern side of Okinawa main land)? It is one of very super natural forest in Japan. If not yet, you should go and check it out. peace
In terms of lifestyle, the army is similar to the marines. I lived in the barracks my entire career. As an NCO, I had my own room, but not until then. As Finance soldiers (basically Payroll), we went to the rifle range once a year, gas chamber, PT 3X a week, and sometimes a road march and/or the field. In the army, you're a soldier first, your MOS second. I loved it!
I've been through Marine Corps Boot Camp, and I've looked at videos of Air Force Basic Training. I was wondering about the Air Force Basic Training. Were you able to order room service while being there? LOL!
Yup USAF got it the best when it comes to quality of life. Served USMC for 4 years and decided to go USAF, loving it now.
You were able to do that?
Yup, but for limited jobs
Shean Sager hey, could you please share your experience in the usmc and now your experience in the Airforce? Why’d you change branches? Thank you

+Keith Hugo Lmao calm down Senior it was a joke sheesh.
Great interview and solid info!
The only thing I didn't like was that Gott kept interrupting Nava when he was trying to explain specific answers... hahaha. Just let the man talk.
Kyle can you do a video about Security Forces or with somebody that has the job?
Kyle you should definitely do this idea
I want to find out more about Security Forces too! Looking at the TRF.
i was a 97B (CI Agent) in the Army, I used to live in the officers barracks (korea) as a E-3.
this is so unfair. Why do they treat hard working marines like cadets on a camp but the Airmen get a good home salary and dont even have to shave that often. Whats the point of joining the marines anyway for hardcore fun?
*****
exactly! im not saying no one should join the marines but its not for everyone. My cousin joined the marines in 2013 and after basic training he already wanted to come home because he keeps complaining about how hard and physically challenging it is. I believe the Airforce is the best choice for me. I have my last year in ROTC and i believe the Airforce is the right choice for me and could of been a great career for my cousin because he loves Air-crafts and wanted to become a pilot but sadly he didnt research about the different careers and ops in the military and how it could affect his life
Because it's the real military. Kyle wouldn't understand.
+caltek2006 Thank you.
I started in the Marines as a 0351. 2007-11. since then i've been in the air force in aircraft maintenance
"If we had everything we needed we wouldn't be pissed off and ready kill someone all the time. See, the Marine Corp is like Americas little pitbull. They beat us, mistreat us, and occasionally let us out to attack someone."
I’m Air Force agr and it’s amazing ha. Although I really want to be stationed in Japan, but I have no clue on how to go about doing it.
i needed this im stuck like glue idk which one🤦🏾♀️
Same
@@MrBigChops i chose the corps!im currently on nrotc scholarship to be an officer lol🙂
I'm considering the Marines or Air Force. I'm at an impasse though.
which one did you pick
Interim Champs [Aldo's Kryptonite] go air force, don't even look at the other branches XD
If you are tough join the marines if you want a comfy lifestyle join the Air Force there is a major difference.
Conor MxGregor's Dolly I'm having the same dilemma
Conor McGregor's Dolly personally im doing marines. I need something tough to help build myself to what i want myself to be. But thats just me.
I lived on Cherry point marine base for 5 years and I used to have tons of fun with the kids there, it was a very friendly lively base.
lol You were kind of harsh about the poor guy's office job.
yeah man i thaught the same i was like god damn he is ragging on him. but its just eazy to i guess but he did say playing on his key board. lol im joining the af though got the papers sighned. made the right choice lmao
Best of luck to you!
+Emily S thanks man!
im joining to be a grunt 0311
+QuickSilver SnD Good for you man. Stop the extremist terror cells and help make people lives better in these harsh areas of the world.
That’s what I like about being admin we see all the best spots for those courses first
Lol sounds like Air Force is good for me then. I grow facial hair fast. One day I'll shave it off, the next it's back.
My buddy was like that. Had to shave in the morning and all get yelled at during tech school
I just wanted to come back to this video and say this gives me hella nostalgia lol
"Your a grown marine" 😂😂😂
and you cant drive a car.... lmfao i feel so bad for laughng at that
¿????????
+NavaTheBeast hey man hope things are great for you! i went over and subbed. i have a work our rutine kinda but I'll check out how i can implement your stuff too it looks really cool!!
Great video guys nice to see a marine and airmen sharing info together
how is the pride and brotherhood you see in each branch, like obviously the marines has the whole "once a marine always a marine" and like the "brothers in arms" but what about the air force?
Got to my first duty station as a first term airmen, single asf, E2. Moved off base within the first three months.
Read those contracts closer boys..... That's an 8 yr contract hahahahahahahhaha!!!!!!
My cousin Is stationed on Okinawa Japan in the marines, she is in the 1st MAW and is an E-4 And her boyfriend is an E-5 as and osprey crew chief.
Is it true about the 90 sec shower?
I loved this video! It was fun to see the comparison of the two branches....
I can't wait for the PT test video 😂
i love Kyle Gott videos man always entertaining
Marine vs Air Force uniforms would be sweet
Im AF in Germany, we have no curfew over here. Im POL and my shop does organized PT between 1-3 times per week.
It just shows marines put their life for the person next to them that's why they are so close I'd rather be having a room buddy then barely knowing people in the Air Force & stick in my room That's why they are elite
+NavaTheBeast that's right brother I plan on enlisting in August just doing everything I can to get physically fit before but mentally is the challenge I'm willing to take
Patrick Bernal so you need to be in the military to have brotherhood and close life-long friends? okay then
@kylegott, I binge watched a bunch of your videos last night 6/14 and I had wanted to join the Marine corps since I was ten.
I’m debating between the two. What do you think about your decision?
Kyle I talked to my recruiter Yesterday and it didn't go so good :(. He said I need to gain weight first, that it'd be easier to gain weight through muscle. So my questions to you is, will you please make a video on your supplements, what they do, and how to use them. Also, how to gain weight please!
Eat. Make eating your job. Eat until you feel like you have to vomit at every meal, and then eat some more. And then lift.
+TheMarmot24 supplements don't count for anything unless you have diet, adequate sleep, and consistent training.
Omg Nava is so handsome. I love how he is so humble with what he has to deal with being a Marine 🤤
25:57 - Was that a fly or an orb?
That's the old saying. Everyone wants to be a grunt until it's time to do grunt shit. Like living in a barracks forever.
24 Years in the U.S. Air Force. Retired Master Sgt. It was a good life.
Do Airmen vs Coast Guard
I had my own room during C School in Pensacola. Now I'm in Iwakuni, Japan and I still have my own room, I just share a common area with another Marine but just wanted to put that out there. Not all bases are that bad about having your privacy, just depends on your assigned Unit.
the more i listen to this, the more i feel for the Marines. the Marines seem to have a much TOUGHER life. seriously, way way tougher than the others. this is so unfair.
Live tough be tough
I like the activity level of the USMC be ause of how sharp it makes you but the quality of life in the USAF seems like a win for me.
Seems like he got Nava on here to troll him and steal recruits
So excited to be joining the air Force next year
Hey Kyle would you do a Q&A with a Special Missions Aviator?
Alright thanks for the info!
I'm enlisting in the air force pretty soon and my buddy who just left for boot camp asked me before he left why I won't enlist in the marines, wish I could show him this video about the quality of life
Basically, Marines is like living in poverty vs Air Force is high middle class 😂
"Rifleman before anything". Navathepogue cracks me up!
Airforce doesn't sound as exciting; not enough discipline for me
Yeah it's apparent when he kept interrupting Nava
For the record, this Marine is stationed in Japan so the policies are a little more strict than usual. In the states pretty much the same policies. Quality of life in the Marines is just fine
@4:24
I'm thinking about joining the Air Force or the U.S Army ? I can't decide but is there a difference in the two groups ?
I recently enlisted into the Army Reserve and completed Basic Training at Fort Jackson back in August and am now in AIT at Fort Gordon and I too thought about the same two. Even though I don't know much about Air Force life, I choose the Army because it is the largest branch and your MOS is guaranteed since its large. In the Air Force, I learned since its the third largest the branch might not have openings for your job and would have to look for another. I hope that helps but there is probably are a few good reasons to join the Air Force too.
lol my dad is in the air force and we've been in north dakota for around 12 years now
Do officers stay In barracks?
Andrew Van Lare no dumass
Wayne Fletcher calm down I just had a question dang
Andrew Van Lare officers have option of living in their own place on base or off base
Which branch? That's the question I had for the Marines. E-4 according to a recruiter is the level Officers normally start at.
Good question though!
Ours did. Different barracks though.
That for the video man! working on joining an air guard medical unit right now this really helped!
yes! that's exactly what I'm in now!
Air Force barracks don't have roommates? That sounds lonely. You make the *best* friends in the barracks.
Toby I never made a friend in the barracks. Most people were trash
God help you if you hate your roommate
@Lonnie lol that shouldn't be happening in Air Force
I rather have a room by my self
You have roommates just not in the same room for your own space I’m guessing
Have you ever visited Yambal(northern side of Okinawa main land)? It is one of very super natural forest in Japan. If not yet, you should go and check it out. peace
Navathebeast kinda talks like Dave Franco lol
In terms of lifestyle, the army is similar to the marines. I lived in the barracks my entire career. As an NCO, I had my own room, but not until then. As Finance soldiers (basically Payroll), we went to the rifle range once a year, gas chamber, PT 3X a week, and sometimes a road march and/or the field. In the army, you're a soldier first, your MOS second. I loved it!
Marine over Air Force all day
i want you guys just to live in okinawa with no war happened. Thank you very much!!!
I've been through Marine Corps Boot Camp, and I've looked at videos of Air Force Basic Training. I was wondering about the Air Force Basic Training. Were you able to order room service while being there? LOL!
Good video. Interesting contrast to the old brown-boot army - no comparison by either to my experience, back in the day.
